Troglodyte error in Heroes 3

Did you know that the troglodyte in heroes 3 is immune to blindness but can be hypnotised.

How can that be if the creature has no eyes?

Is this a mistake or a error on the program?

Can anyone shed any light on the subject please.

just a guess...

...I don't think you should think "hypnotize" as a normal hypnosis... it is aspell, therefore, it directly affects the mind  of the target... I somehow don't think the caster would cross the battlefield, find his target and start moving a candle (or a clock, or something) in front of his eyes

Hehe... yes.. I think the pendulum for the spell-casting effect is just to familiarize people with the hypnotize idea and not just random energy.

"Stupid troglodyte... look at the candle! OW!"

Damn good point tho...

I always thought hypnosis required sight, ie. blind people cannot be hypnotized.

Great pick up there

On RL hypnosis...

Hypnosis is the focusing of one sense to a single sensation excluding all others.  Forget that talk show crap where you can be convinced you are a Marine drill seargant whenever "blue" is said.  Hypnosis is listening to your favorite song and just listening.  Not moving, not speaking.  Becoming one with a sensation, be it a picture, a photo of a mountaintop, a fingertip's touch (you happy couples should know more about that!), or even your own thoughts.

That, to me, is hypnosis.  And if you've never been hypnotized like that...I feel sorry for you.

It doesn't says "immune to mind magic". Just they don't have eyes but they have a mind to be hypotized.

I see sense.

about trogs, weren't they supposed to have bad morale? However, whenever I fight them, their morale is the same as everybody else. What happened there? Cheers.

I thought that Trogs had it, but Infernal Trogs didn't.  I dunno, I'm not a big dungeon fan, but all my friends are, and the Infernal Trogs they use don't seem to have any morale penalty.

it's gaming logic. lith is right. hypnotise only affects the mind. doesnt need the trog to stare at a yo-yo or anything similar.
as for morale, trogs are not golems, not elementals, not war machines, and not undead. therefore they shouldnt get morale penalty

The creature description of the troglodytes (in the CD manual) said that because they were forced into combat by the dungeon overlords, they had bad morale. I thought that they would have bad morale in combat like how he minotaur/minotaur kings always had good morale. That would make sense as then they would kinda balance each other out. However, this seems to be not implemented in the game. I've lost too many extra troops because the bloody trogs had good morale instead of bad and took another go. Anyway, since i'm getting heroes 4 on monday, i won't be worrying about this as much anymore. Cheers.
