I'm talking about PC

My first computer was 286 Golf, 2 Mb HDD, 112 Kb RAM and monitor that could display only black and white.
It was in 1989. I was born in 1984 (i've got early my first one, havent i? )

How long is it?

Good thread Viper!
I already posted this in another place but it belongs here also.

Things were cheaper in the "Olden" days but not Computers!
My dad paid $2400. for an Apple II!! The salesman said it comes with 16k or 32k but he didnt think anyone would ever use 32k  I was almost 7 years old then and I kind of took it over from dad and upgraded the 32k to 64k and then I had an Apple II+ !!!!!!!!
No disk drive at all then, programs were input from a Radio Shack cassette tape player. My first floppy disk drive was a major investment and a major improvement. LATER I got a 300 baud modem to connect to the world. Needless to say there were no graphics to download anywhere anyway.

I remember playing one of Ken Williams' first games. Think about this... His home phone number was on the zip-lock baggie that the game came in!!! I called him to get a hint about the game because everytime I looked under a rock a rattlesnake bit me and I died. Ken said "Look under ALL the rocks". Sure enough I had missed one and the game continued.

Ken later founded "Sierra Software" married Roberta and became a multi-millionaire. While I wasted my life looking under ALL the rocks

Ahhhhh...... Good Times!

Commodore 64.  I was 3 years old at the time, and much more interested in the boxes it came in.  The monitor was late to arrive, so we hooked it up to Dad's Heathkit TV set and played Frogger and some other classics...

my one was modified bulgarian version of Apple ][/c - Pravetz 8C (this is the town where our long-lived communist president was born (now dead;()- he ruled us for more than 20 years - and made great things in his town).

It was with 128kb memory, having hires mode - lots of cracked software - and cool games. It was 1989 i think - i was 13 years then.

I've started learning BASIC from it, then gone to 6502 assembler - but really was not so good (in Apple ][/c there was monitor program and it was easier to code in asm).

I've made my text editor, and simple star wars game, wanted to make a game like AZTEC - but never succeeded.

Then ma mom&pop bought me from my cousin (he was leaving for USA) a 286 with Hercules - and i was really snowed up - very small amount of games were possible to run. Hercules was not supported by many of them. It was 1992 or 1993 i think. I've made simple emulator for VGA only games (with 256 colors in 320x200) - i've cracked Star Control to draw not in video memory but in buffer of mine - and was converting it real-time (yeaaah - i was very proud of that)... The other game i've succeed in running/emulating on my Herculas was TROLLS - very cool game.
Later i changed my CPU to 386, but i didn't have enough money so I have to sell my 2mb for and get only 1 to get 386 bought - hum.. yeah - but i've started with protected mode and stuff...

So my fav. Apple ][ games - Mario Bross, Moon Patrol, Aztec, Hard Hat Mack, Space Raiders (COOOOOL!!!), Montezuma's Revenge, Outpost, Sky Fox (wow!), Black Magic, Captain Power and lots of others (can't remmember their names).... oh... KARATEKA - this was the first game i saw/started playing and there was one more - a side scroller shooter (one of the levels everythin' was reversed) - but can't remmember the name.

PC games (most of them i was playing in local computer club) - ARCHON!!! (that was the first great PC game to play). FLIGHT, CAT, BARBARIAN, PARATROOPERS, Star Control I&II, Zeliard (groovy!) and of course Sierra-On-Line and Lucasfilms's quests - they were many - and it's sad to see not so much quest games these days.

I've started really heroes later - about 4-5 years ago. I was not interrested in strategy games before that (probably only Ancient Art Of War was one i was playing and Battle Isle). Actually all the period in the army (15 months) i and the other guys spent playing heroes - we were playing till late nearly everyday - and when at 7:00 we were on the platz waiting to go to eat - we were thinking with how many turns we can go to the eating place (gee - don't know the english word for it). The platz was made of hexagonal pieces - like combat in heroes.... So it started like this - after playing Heroes1 - a friend of mine gave me King's bounty - and i was very impressed by the poor graphics - but understanable ones and cool game...

sweet memories

Okay, my first computer (not PC) was a Sinclair ZX 81.. (must have been 1982). While my classmates got an Atari console, my daddy thought it would be much cooler to program games. Well, that computer was crap, cause you could save your programs on tape, but you couldn't reload them - which means, once the ZX 81 was turned off, all the games (typed the source code from some magazine) were gone and I had to type the source code (several pages) again. Even better: something was wrong with the comp, every vibration lead to a reset... so when a big lorry passed our house, whooops... typing of several hours was in vain.. well, thanks, Dad!

Got a C64 then (1985)... I don't want to remember how many hours of my youth I've wasted with that one

My first PC.. 486 DX 33 (Intel Inside).. in 1992.. was sorta cool. First time I've experienced things like mouse, hard disk, bugs (Mircrosoft )
