Assumptions about countries
I thought people could post here all-kinds of assumptions about countries and their people and atleast I would be interested in hearing them.
So anyone who knows/has of overall/personal assumptions,stereotypes etc. about countries or their people post here.
These posts here are not supposed to hurt anyone or to be taken seriously so please do not be offended or start offending people
As a creator of this thread I will start.
France:
-No one speaks English only French(I know atleast one person speaks English in France)
-They can't stand fast food or bad coffee
British:
-They don't drink coffee only tea
Germany:
-No one is ever late
Japan:
-Everyone is a work-a-holic(not sure about the spelling)
There are few ones.
As a finish person I would especially like those from FInland.

-People use their arms to talk(not for fighting though)
United States:
-No one knows anything about geography
Scottland:
-Everyone is very mingy(right word?)
Ireland:
-All wear swetters
-Hang in the pubs and drink beer

Hell yeah. Why do you think MapQuest was invented?
Canada: (My fav country to rag on) They are all too friendly for their own good. They say abut instead of about. All of them are born with the in-bred love of all things related to hockey and beer.
Germany: The skinny Germans yell when they talk and the fat Germans always wear lederhosens...always. Beer is the only drink they know of. It comes even before water.
Ireland: These people couldn't give two ***** about health. They are the only people able to mix alcoholism and religion together. They drink on Saturday, feel bad on Sunday, then drink again later that night. Even when sober their blood still has enough alcohol running through it to declare them legally drunk.
England: They have several scheduled Tea Times throughout the day at which time they stop what they are doing to drink Tea. They secretly hate America (I wonder why ).
Sweeden: They all talk like the Sweedish Chef from The Muppits. All of their women are incrediblly beautiful but are unaware of it.

Well, IMHO most of those are true if you replace "everyone" with "the most". For example:
Germany:
-No one is ever late
So, if you say "Germans are the most punctual", you'd be right.
The buses, trains, etc run on time, if you have a meeting scheduled at 1:00, everyone will be there at 1:00, etc. We even had a joke in Russia about it:
Germany. WW2. A man asks a railway station attendant:
"When will the train come?"
"12:03:56!"
"Why such presision?"
"The war!"
Russia. WW2. A man asks a railway station attendant:
"When will the train come?"
"Maybe today, maybe tomorrow, maybe next week..."
"Why such precision?"
"The war!"
Japan:
-Everyone is a work-a-holic(not sure about the spelling)
If you say that "Japanese are the most hardworking", you'd be right.
An AVERAGE Japanese works 2000+ hours/year! The second place is only like 1600 hours/year!

Yes and no. Depends on how you look at it. They don't follow traffic rules, but they can maneuver themselves around anything.

This does not describe Germany, but "Bavaria" (south-county of germany, where the famous "Oktoberfest" takes place....
And about that "most punctual"....I think that could be true. I know how I react myself when I see i would be 3 minutes late....starting to curse...sweat...thinking about a good excuse...lol
