Edited my original post- my guess is template name and its folder should be exactly same,let me know if that fixed your problem. As to your first question - some pendants alongside with treasure eagle eye arties are completely useless except when they belong to seer huts and i believe banning minor one is enough because usually players get upset when they receive the unwanted art from banks since it literally does nothing. I mean in mirror getting stoic watchman or bird of perception is not a big deal since opp will receive them as well but in non-mirror it might be annoying.And no,banning diplo arts is a mistake,especially in mirror. Won't go into details as i want YOU to figure it/them out for yourself.

Ah I see.. quests huts, I keep forgetting about them. I don't even include them in any of my templates I feel like they are just taking valuable space. I would rather it be a resource or something. And it's also quite random whether you find the artifact you need or not. While your opponent might get it just like that around the corner. When I played default templates before I rarely if ever did those quests, or even looked at them actually.. seemed like too much hassle. But yeah now I get your reasoning. Speaking of those huts, I noticed on mt_Rocket your starting area is full of them, is that intentional?

Well I guess Diplo arts are also used for Quests then.

Well I guess Diplo arts are also used for Quests then.

You probably haven't seen professional mt_jebus matches where players exploit the crap out of seers. One example: lets say 1st week you find a quest art guarded by hydras and turns out that seer gives you tier 6 units or 15k exp in exchange, think how much ahead you would be compared to opponent.
Starting area being full of huts is normal imo and no, it wasn't intentional. I make my templates with " create the illusion of ability to control randomness" philosophy which might sound a bit complicated.
Diplo arts can't belong to huts because there is no treasure class among them. You probably have never made a combo out of them it seems..

Yeah I don't play mirrors myself and rarely watch them. If only there was a way to make a mirror template where you can select different towns...

I don't know, it's an advantage but it's too random to be a fair kind of advantage. Besides there's Pandora boxes with the same type rewards so I just use them instead. Probably one of my favorite parts of this game - when I find an upgraded stack of units in a Pandora. Quest rewards is similar in that regard but it's not as streamlined as I'd like it to be.

So you mostly work with treasure ranges then? To achieve this kind of illusion of control.

You mean Diplomat's Cloak relic? But first you need to assemble it for it to be useful. And even then the bonuses it gives are quite situational I'd say.

Yes, it is no secret that i play with treasure ranges which is definitely better than setting special rules for either zone itself or entire map.
The use of diplo combo ( even disassembled)  is quite situational. I'm sure any skilled player could easily guess what benefits it would give, just don't want to make them public.

And why is it better exactly?
I love the fact that you can control what goes into each zone, to kind of create the kind of experience you want to play. Personally I find myself I can no longer enjoy any default templates after I had the taste of what can be done with rmg editor. I hope hota devs will continue improving RMG editor so there's even more control over generator and maybe even the game itself. Yeah it would be cool if you could just tune everything within hota without the need for separate mods and stuff like that.

I'm not sure what you mean actually. If tournament rules are on, then Diplomacy is not working. Unless you get all 3 items they are useless by themselves.
Why you don't want to make those benefits public? Seems like it would be quite useful info for people here.

Oh now I see.. it reduces the cost of ALL surrendering. For some reason I thought it's just on neutrals only. So it can be useful without assembling even. Yeah then I guess I better restore them.

On a second thought. Nevermind. Turns out they are Major type artifacts... I wouldn't want a Major spawn as one of those for sure.

 Because the fun/challenge lies in what map might contain, not what it will. I've been there and after a considerable amount of time realized that object settings no longer make it better, this is why any template should have minimum amount of extras or better - none.

 Agree, ive even asked team several times to add custom creature bank feature so that we could change reward from banks ( be it creature or artifact) to create diversity, like final battle with black dragon powerstack instead of archangels. But it is up to them to decide how free users can get on modifying.

Do you have any templates left with modified object settings? I'd like to check them out.
I guess it's a personal preference. Some people love RNG some people don't. I mean gambling is quite addictive for a reason. And with Heroes you get this kind of slots feeling all around.

As for the challenge aspect of it. Well if it's a pvp template then I'd like as little RNG as possible, because main challenge is the player and his skills here. And the game itself is already random enough so.. If it's a single player template, then if you want a real challenge you gotta control what AI gets in their starting zone. And give em a lot of advantages over the player. Otherwise it will always be lackluster in terms of challenge.. regardless of RNG. For example in my Survival HC template AI only gets what it needs, and a lot of it. And I would say it's the most challenging single player template there is. Not sure about custom maps.. because they can only be challenging the first time you play them.

No, i deleted them all. Tbh i dont care about AI but your survival map is great for single player,i guess. Again not a fan of single play unless it is for testing purposes.

The 1.5.4 version is out.

As previously announced, it is predominantly aimed at solving issues pertinent to the original game and HotA. The new release does not feature any significant new content, and players should not expect anything major to be out around New Year. However, like two years ago, some kind of announcement regarding the features to be introduced in the further versions might happen.

The HotA reference section at h3hota.com continues developing:

- The FAQ section has been expanded and translated into English.
- An article featuring detailed descriptions of HotA random map templates with their charts and nuances has been published (currently only available in Russian). You can expect it to be further expanded with gameplay specifics for each template.

Many thanks for the new release! I think it's great to put out the new patch now, even as it doesn't bring much new content. Bug fixing and some quality of life changes are always welcome. And hey, there's yet again a new map for us to play! The Hota audience is used to receive something at the end of each year, and this is how you keep your audience hooked and expecting for even more.

This caught my attention:

Oh yes, that would be great! I wish we could have some information how the team is going to deal with the spell and secondary skill balance. I can understand you're not willing to say anything too spesific, but some kind of guidelines would be much appreciated (like what secondary skills might see changes in the future)

Any time I install v1.5.x over Homm3 Complete, all HoTA artifacts cause a crash. This doesn't happen with v1.4.x of HoTA. Same installation folder, same files.

is it just me?

Judging from the screenshot, you are installing over WoG, not Complete.  This is most likely the source of your problems, since WoG replaces some of the original game's files.  Try installing HotA in a separate folder over a clean copy of Complete/SoD.
