Deimos: Good idea, I'll go look for Dervol. I'll find where she is.
Dean: How?
Deimos: A quality Inferno magic mirror.
Deimos took out a mirror.
Deimos:
Mirror, Mirror,
in my hand,
show me where Dervol is
in this land.
The mirror sparked, and then the mirror showed Dervol's scared face.
Deimos: Poor girl...
The mirror's view expanded. It showed Illyria pointing a dagger at Dervol. Then it showed the abandoned castle.
Deimos: Illyria. Who's good at fighting against assasins will go with me to rescue her.

*picking myself up off the ground of a cavern floor, I dust the dirt off my clothes. I flap my wings and a cloud of dirt and dust fall all over the place. I hear the steady dripping of water from somewhere in the cavern. Looking around I slowly remember the place as the one that RSF and I entered to unleash the Forsaken Ones. I don't remember much after that except for electricity coursing it's way through my body. I slowly start walking towards the sunlight coming in from the cave. After stepping outside I look around, obviously nobody's around after such a long period of time. I still notice footprints in the soft, sandy entrence of the cave. The same sets of footprints that go in have also gone out. Mine now included. Not having the slightest clue where to head to or which direction to go, I try to think of where some adventurer's might head off to. After thinking, I'd reckon that the Mausoleum where I found the Unholy One would be the best bet. But then again, I may get an even worse reputation since I already practically stabbed my old accomplices in the back by suddenly leaving with out an explanation. I'm sure if I tried to reason with them they'd welcome me back. Deciding to find them I slowly spread my wings and fly low over the treetops, hoping that if I see them they'll let me know, even if that means being hit by another bolt of lightning!*

Vadskye: But we need the weapons-
Deimos: Correction. MightyMage, Dean, and Kay need the weapons. You do not.
Vadskye: I am a guardian! I have just as much right to look for the weapons as they do! And more than Kay. She is not a guardian.
Deimos: That could be so. However, the Betrayer experience-
Vadskye: Is over and only taught us one thing: that Dervol wasn't with us, and that we need to look for her.
Deimos: For you, maybe. But not for me. You see, I suspected the Betrayer. Of course, I never unmasked her, however, that taught me that no one can be trusted. You, Vadskye, may not really be looking for the weapons. You may be just asking for an excuse to follow MM, Dean, and Kay, so maybe you could kill them!

*Hearing both point of views and after seeing the horid scene in the mirror, Mighty Mage felt he'd been silent long enough.  It was time for his input on the situation.*

Mighty Mage:  We now have two choices before us.  We can split up to better our chances or we can all search together for the weapons and my crystal.  Now, Dean stands some chance against one Forsaken One since he has his weapon and crystal combination.  Vadskye has his crystal and I have RSF's crystal.  Now, I suggest we go with Dean's plan but I believe Vadskye and I should switch crystals for the time being.  This way your group will have one attack crystal and one capture crystal.  When we find mine, my group will also have one attack crystal and one capture crystal.  Our group has recently been condenced so lets see who we have left.

Demios:  I'm here.

Mighty Mage:  We know you're here.

Dean:  I am still here

Vadskye:  Vadskye, here and accounted for.

Kaylianna:  I'm still with you guys.

Mighty Mage:  Alright, that's five.  I suggest Dean's group take three people since you're dealing with Forsaken Ones.

*Suddenly a voice rings down from above that sounds slightly familiar.*

Voice:  Arn't you guys forgetting someone?

Demios:  YOU!  YOU ROTTEN SON OF A *****!  HOW DARE YOU SHOW YOUR FACE!

Dean:  Gorman?  GORMAN!

Mighty Mage:  What the hell are you doing here?  I killed you.

Gorman:  Well I'm back.  Guys, look, I'm sorry.  I thought I had things under control.  I figured all RSF was going to do was absorb some power.  How was I supposed to know he was going to unlock that thing?

Mighty Mage:  Accident or not you betrayed us.  Give me one good reason why I shouldn't blast you out of the sky right now.

Gorman:  Because my god sent me back to undo what I have done.  I here to help.

Kaylianna:  He's an angel.  Don't you guys touch him.  I don't know what he may or may not have done but you heard it from his own mouth.  His god sent him.  You can come with me Mr. Angel.

Gorman:  Thank you...uh...

Kaylianna:  Kaylianna.  My name is Kaylianna.

Gorman:  Nice to meet you.  I am called Gorman.  By the way, Vadskye, Croock says the answer to your question is yes...though I don't know what it is.

Vadskye:  And you wont know.  Mighty Mage, the angel goes with you.  I can't stand to look at him right now.

Mighty Mage:  Fine.  Gorman, Kaylianna, I guess we should get going.  Dean, Demios, Vadskye...good luck.  I hope to hear from you guys soon.  Remember, two crystals alone will not bring you victory.  Approach with caution.  Goodbye.

*So the group split once more in hopes to bring and end to the madness.  Mighty Mage took Vadskye's orb in order to better his chances at finding the Zyphers Emerald.  This would be a key in battling the Forsaken One's and locking them away...this time for good.*

When I saw the angel my first instinct was to blast him to the ninth level of hell. My second instinct was to stand and gape - I saw him die!! I smelt the cooked flesh and burnt hair and feathers. But he was alive!
Then I returned to my first instinct and readied my self to blast him.
I didn't care what his explanation was, but Mighty Mage seemed to accept it, and was willing to let him travel with him once again.
Just before we parted I pulled MM aside and said 'I'm not sure whether I believe that story or not. But just remember, mission from the Crook or not. He's still the same person that betrayed us inside. Watch yourself, but more importantly. Watch him'.

With that I made my way to Deimos and Vadskye who were already arguing.
'Let's not go through that claw weilding scene again okay Deimos? Let's just keep on moving along. If we would betray each other, like some people did, *cough cough gorman cough cough* we would have done it before'.

Why didn't heroes in real life get along like the heroes in my storybooks when I was a child?

'So, Dean, where are we headed?' asked Deimos.
I thought about it. From the image in the magic mirror, Dervol was being held in a dungeon. Not many buildings in this land would have a dungeon unless it was a castle.
I dismissed the Order fort in my mind, since Vadskye had come from there.
I tried to remember my geography briefing before the Council sent me south, and from what I remembered there was a big old castle tucked away in a forest to the north. Just my luck, I remembered the forest was supposedly cursed.
A cursed forest and one of the Forsaken Ones.
A daunting thought for any man.

Speed was of the essence so I summoned Unicorns for us to ride and a griffin to scout the way to the forest for us.

Looking back I saw MM, Kaylianna and the angel walking south.

I hoped MM could trust the angel.......

If not, I just hoped he could manage to kill him again.

Dismounting, I sent the unicorns and the griffin away and stared at the forest.
Apart from the trees right at the edge, everything else was indistinguishable in the gloom.
Typical bloody cursed forest look to the place.
'Okay' I whispered. 'Lets make a few ground rules. Everybody keeps quiet. No sudden movements, no sudden noises, and keep sight of the person in front of you. The last thing we need is to get separated in this.'
I knew Vadskye could keep quiet, he was a thief. It was Deimos I was wooried about. He could creep when he wanted, but one careless swing of his tail, one claw out of place and we could find ourselves in a whole lot of trouble.
If the place was cursed that is. I was taking no chances.

Starting forward into the forest I glanced behind me. Deimos was trailing me and Vadskye was on rearguard.
Holding my hand aloft I created a little glo-bulb and sent it ahead of me. It's tiny light barely penetrated the gloom, but it allowed me to watch my step and not trip over tree roots.

A howl to my left froze me in my tracks and Deimos bumped into me.
'Sorry', he whispered. But I didn't notice.

There had been something about that howl.

Concentrating, trying to remember what it felt like I changed into wolf form and sniffed the air. There was an itch to the air, something displaced and purple (to my nose anyway). Sharp like a knife. I'd never smelt it before.
The other two were looking at me curiously.

'What is it Dean?' whispered Vadskye. 'Do you hear anything? Smell anything?'

'Quiet' I thought at them both. 'There's something strange....' It wasn’t just strange it was downright wrong. And dangerous……

'It was just a wolf!' hissed Deimos. 'If it bothers us Dean can talk to it and tell it to go away!'

Snarling I snapped the thought at them 'Quiet I said. Do you know how much danger we're in at the mom-

'This is just typical of you wizards!' blared Deimos through the forest. 'Every chance you get you're telling us what to do! And I'm sick of it. I should just-'

A howl rose through the forest. Then another, slightly off from the first. Then another. This one was closer.
The scent of the forest had changed too. The purple had turned a brassy orange. And I instinctively knew what that smell meant.

Something was hunting.....us!

'RUN!' I sent desperately. And took off through the forest. Hoping they would take the hint.

Loping through the forest I could hear them coming behind me. It didn't matter how much noise they made now. The dice were out of the cup.

Reaching a clearing I stopped and turned, and changed back into human form
to wait for the others. They weren't long in catching me up.

'What the hell is this about Dean', Deimos screamed. 'If you think it's some kind of excuse to get out of me frying you where you stand then you-'

'Shut up Deimos. We just don't have time! In less than two minutes we're going to have three werewolves leaping out of the forest at us! We need to get ready!'

That stopped him short. ‘Are you sure?’ he asked. All of a sudden not so sure of himself. Even Vadskye’s usual cool demeanour was momentarily shattered.

‘Yes I’m sure. I said.
And if it wasn’t for your fool stupidity we may have never been noticed by them I thought.

Moving to the centre of the clearing I motioned to Vadskye to take the right hand side. I noticed him slide his long daggers out of their scabbards.

'What good will they do?' I asked him. 'It's bloody werewolves we're up against! You’d be safer with magic’.

He just winked at me, 'Edged in silver my friend'. And stood in a waiting stance. Scanning the forest for any sign of the werewolves approach.

Deimos had taken the place to my right instinctively and I glanced at him to make sure he was alright.

'Got any tips?' he asked me. 'I've never fought a werewolf before'.
I smiled at the side-ways apology.
Then I remembered that I'd never fought a werewolf before.
'Well from what I know of them. Freezing them won't kill them, just slow them down. But burning them should do the job. The longer they stay in their animal form, the more animal instincts they'll have. So fire should maybe panic them as well. If they're dumb werewolves. They may not be.

Try not to get bitten either of you. I don't think it would affect you Deimos, but I don't want to take the chance of a demonic werewolf running about what with everything else we've got on our plate.
Get ready they should be here soon'.

Hefting the Ice Mace, an idea came to me.

Pointing the mace at the bushes and ferns at the edge of the clearing, I let fly with a freezing blast. The small leaves and branches froze instantly. Deimos caught on to the idea quickly, and we soon had the underbrush frozen solid.

*tinkle*
The frozen leaves were being disturbed to my right.

WHUMPH! Deimos shot a blast of scorching fire at the noise. When the flames subsided, there was a lot of burnt leaves, and twigs.......and a surprised and angry werewolf.
With a howl it leaped for Deimos.

As the first werewolf howled the other two broke through the underbrush. Damn! These were the clever sort of werewolves. That first one had howled to cover the other two's noise.
No time for thought.
As Vadskye tussled with the second werewolf, the third leaped for me with it’s claws outstretched. I had just enough time to see a mouthful of canines before I brought the Ice Mace up to knock it out of the way. The werewolf went flying past me, but my arm was jarred right to my shoulder.
I wasn't Mighty Mage, I couldn’t fight these things hand-to-hand. I needed an edge.

Tracing the symbol for fire in the air I pulled at the void with all my might and yanked out two fire elementals. Pointing at the werewolf who had gotten to it's feet and was shaking it's head I shouted 'Protect me!' and pointed at it.

Instantly the fire elementals leaped to my aid. Swarming onto the werewolf they held on to it in gripping bearhugs, with arms made of pure flame.
Howling in terror and pain the thing tried to throw them off. But they were insubstantial and under my control. They stayed where they were because I wanted them to stay there.

The smell of burning hair and flesh filled my nostrils as the werewolf sank to the ground. Feebly it thrashed against it's fiery captors as it died in pain and flame and terror.

Looking round I saw a massive body lying on it's back, one of Vadskye's long daggers planted in it's throat.
In the excitement I hadn't even noticed Vadskye slip past me to aid Deimos.
The two of them were panting hard and both were bleeding. A third werewolf lay dead at their feet. It's face a charred ruin and a slice had opened it's stomach, empting it's bowel contents onto the forest floor.

'Did either of you get bitten?' I asked quickly. 'If you have there isn't much time', I said staring up at the sun. It was low in the sky and would soon be night. If the moon rose before either of them got a cure there would be nothing I could do.

'No' they both mumbled, still panting. 'It was the claws' Vadskye said. Deimos nodded in agreement.

A noise behind me made me spin around and reach towards the void. But there was nothing moving behind me.

'Look!' said Deimos, pointing at the werewolf corpses. Only they weren't werewolves anymore. They were human. Or at least one was. The one I had done for had the pointed ears of an elf. The one Deimos had killed was all charred up and we couldn't even make out if it was male or female.

'Let's clear the bodies away and then make camp for the night' I said.

The other two just nodded in agreement.Even Deimos was too tired to argue.
That was another thing that never happened in the storybooks. After a gruelling hand to hand fight with evil forces the heroes were still ready to run for ten miles.

But this isn't a storybook I told myself.

OOC: For those that have read this once. I did some major editing to this. It's longer than it was before.

As the Forsaken Ones walk through the forest they heard the howls of werewolves.

Feraleena: “I love werewolves.”

Grathemel: “We know you’ve been saying that since the beginning of time.”

The demon master was not kidding either. Ever since Motherdark gave birth to her children, Feraleena had always loved the most foul, wretched beasts ever created. Her favorite was the werewolf and every time she had a reason to mention them, she did… ALWAYS. She was one of those beings that had a passion for one thing and no matter how much time passed, always wanted to talk about… ALWAYS.

Feraleena stopped and held her ear to the glowing fog.

Feraleena: “I hear a party of three moving in the distance. Shall we send them a nice invitation?”

Tytan: “Me bash their brains. Where are they?”

Feraleena: “They are in that direction.”

Feraleena points in the opposite direction of where the party is traveling.

Feraleena: “Go get them! Quick!”

The giant sprints off into the foggy unknown running over small trees and trampling underbrush. He still has a firm grip on Motherdark who has given up trying to free herself after nearly an hour of struggling.

Grathemel: “Why did you do that to Tytan?”

Feraleena: “He still has Mother, remember?”

The three of them all laugh, including Ba’alithnor.

Ba’alithnor: “Nice one, Feraleena.”

Ba’alithnor saves his act for Motherdark. He has as little concern for Motherdark as the rest of the Forsaken Ones, probably far less. He is the most narcissistic one of them all, even more than Motherdark, however he can outsmart and put up a believable act for anyone he wants. He no longer tries to do this on his siblings, because after eternities of dealing with him, they have learned not to trust a single thing he says. The two simply ignore his compliment as they always do with him.

Grathemel: “Oh yeah that’s right! Yeah let’s keep moving.”

Feraleena: “There really is a party off in the distance though. We should send them our greetings.”

Grathemel: “The usual?”

Feraleena: “The usual.”

Ba’alithnor became angry with his siblings for ignoring his compliment. A rare occasion that it may be, Ba’alithnor was truly sincere with his compliment. He has trained himself to never show emotions. He acts as though nothing had happened and begins pushing their buttons.

As Grathemel begins summoning demons, Feraleena concurring with werewolves and several other nearby beasts, Ba’alithnor decides to be a menace and zap most of them to death.

Grathemel: “What’s wrong with you?”

Feraleena: “MY WEREWOLVES! YOU WILL PAY!”

Ba’alithnor: “Relax there are still several werewolves and demons on their way although the remaining demons will need to thaw out before they go after that party.”

Ba’alithnor laughs arrogantly at his prank. Grathemel isn’t too bothered by his brother Ba’alithnor, he has learned to simply give not a single ounce of anger towards his brother. As a result, he tends to avoid most of his annoying mind games. However Feraleena has always been the emotional one. She is incapable of seeing her precious werewolves be harmed and sitting by doing nothing about it. Feraleena began chanting a spell, the words being repeated over and over. The ground began to move, the trees began to shake and several massive nearby trees suddenly uprooted themselves and attacked Ba’alithnor. Grathemel loves nothing more than to see these two bicker and squabble. He laughed at Ba’alithnor as he is continuously swatted by the giant trees being able to do nothing about it. The slime of the cursed forest is immune to fire. Part of the curse was to insure that the forest remain throughout all eternity untouched, unchanged. It could never be burnt to the ground. This didn’t stop Ba’alithnor from trying. His folly efforts of fire spells didn’t even phase the animated trees.

One of the smaller trees picked him up and threw him into the thick, slime-covered canopy. Feraleena looks up at him in satisfaction as he is thrown about like a rag doll getting mouthful after mouthful of slime-covered, rotten leaves.

Feraleena: “Okay now we can keep moving.”

Meanwhile…

Tytan: “Me can’t find anyone. ARRRG! THEY TRICK ME! MOTHER! MOTHER!

Tytan picks up RSF and shakes his body like a rag doll. The time mage remains unconscious, however Motherdark has had enough of her son’s stupidity.

Motherdark: “STOP SHAKING ME YOU IGNORANT RETARD! YOU’VE BEEN SUFFOCATING ME FOR HOURS! AHHHHHH!”

…Feraleena and Grathemel…

Feraleena: “I think Tytan finally let go of Motherdark.”

Grathemel: “Yeah. I heard that too. Anyone could have heard that scream.”

…Tytan and Motherdark…

Tytan: “Sorry, Mother. I love you, Mother. I was just trying to carry you like you asked and I thought you were happy.”

RSF regains his consciousness.

Motherdark: “Put me back on your shoulders the right way this time. I should be facing the other way.”

Tytan ignores Motherdark and grabs one of RSF’s legs and one of Motherdark’s arms; he pulls in opposite directions causing them both to cry in pain.

Motherdark: “What in Motherdark are you doing? How can you hurt your poor mother like that?”

Tytan: “Me separate you two. You walk on your own when not attached to man.”

Motherdark is speechless. She hadn’t thought of that idea. She takes her son’s advice growing further and further out of RSF until she is a full-sized humanoid shape. Finally, she detaches herself dropping the time mage to the ground.

Motherdark: “Thank you, Tytan. That was a good idea.”

Tytan: “YAY! I MADE MOTHER HAPPY! YAY!”

Motherdark pats her son lovingly on the arm for a job well done.

Motherdark: “Come Tytan. We need to get to the fort.”

Tytan: “Okay, Mother.”

The two walk off leaving RSF to die…

The time mage knows that he is going to die if something doesn’t happen soon. He could feel himself beginning to die just as he put on the pendant. He ignored it at first, thinking it was from the rush of his new power. But as Motherdark began to grow out of his body, he felt his life being sucked out of him.

Now, he had not the strength to move an inch. He began to think back on all that he had achieved. He had created a God. He had turned the tide of the Spam War. He freed the Forsaken Ones all on his own. That angered him the most, because it reminded him of his failures. He thought he would have total control over them with the pendant. But it was really the abomination that grew out of him that had control over the Forsaken Ones. And now he didn’t even have the pendant. SHE was wearing it.

The time mage vowed to himself that he will make it through this. He will endure. He will last. He will live on. If his old friend can do it, he knows that he can do it as well. He still did not understand how the shadow mage had survived for so long. He remembers talking with Dingo and apparently he had been lying in that closet for weeks nearly a month. But how? How could he possibly stay alive. And then it hit him.

He remembered the day he killed Wolfman and Shadowcaster. After killing Wolfman, he felt nothing. He considered Wolfman a casualty of war. But he still remembers that sudden chill that went through his body after he threw the dagger into his best friend’s chest. Deep down he had known that he was more than just a casualty of war to him. In the heat of the moment, he had denied that he had feelings for his old friend. But that did not keep him from casting a spell, a spell that saved Shadow’s life, a spell that he never remembered he had cast. It was such a quick action, a heat of the moment, almost primal instinct that took over his body, that he could never remember it until now, until he was in the midst of this face-off with death. It is amazing how one can draw up memories in the realization that you could die any second. He had always heard of people saying, “My life flashed before my eyes,” but he never realized how vivid and fine-tuned the details would be.

The time mage gathered all his strength and let out a primal cry for help, nearly sending him unconscious once more. Now all he could to was wait. Wait for what? Would he be found by the beasts of the forest or maybe someone would save him? He did not worry about this. He had faith that he would live on. And so he continued to reflect on his life, recalling all the good memories from his childhood, from his friends of the Order Party, all the memories of Sheila and Shadowcaster. But more importantly his conscience had returned and he was grateful that this fate had happened upon him. For it had revitalized his soul, his passion, the very thing that made him human. And he remembered all the mistakes he had made, all the times he had done wrong, all the times he had betrayed his friends and his allies. But he would not mourn his way into suicide the way he had that night back on the waterfall. No, he was determined with every ounce of his body, being, and soul that he would live on and fix those mistakes he had made in the past. He knew he had done it before in the Spam War. Unfortunately at the time, he had not lived up to his mistakes in betraying Shadowcaster. He was ready to set right all the wrongs he had done and then some more after that. He knew what he must do. He must not only trap the Forsaken Ones, but they must die forever. He must come to terms with Shadowcaster and heal the wounds he had dealt decades ago. And finally there is one certain God that he must bring back to his former glory.

The time mage is never going to give up, never going to stop fighting. He has something to live for. He set his time spell into place, the one he had used on his blood brother nearly a year ago.

Stupid, good for nothing hero people... Who do they think they are? Good thing they met me, or that beast would tear them apart... And what's that demon doing with two men? Well, time to go ho-WHAT? What was that? Not another bloody stupid human looking for their death! Well, why not show him what's good for him...

Woockardo walks in the direction he thought the cry came from. After a while of walking through grass and swamp and bush, he saw the trembling body of a dying man lying in a clearing.
'What the hell?' Woockardo said and turned the man to face upwards. 'You BASTARD!', Woockardo was about to crush the man's head with his fist, but he wakes up and whispers 'don't'.
Woockardo stopped himself, but roared 'How dare you show yourself here after what you did to this place?'
'I have no... idea what you're... talking about...' RSF whispered, every word an effort.
'That bloody fortress! It made creatures change! You have no idea how much torment you have caused! You deserve to die a horrible death, but no. I shall help you.'
Woockardo picked RSF up, threw him over his shoulder and marched to his hut.

But Vadskye's yell went unheeded.  Suddenly some primal scream ripped through the forest.  It sounded... almost human.

Dean: "I wonder if one of the animals did that?"

Vadskye: "I shudder to think if it was something else."

Deimos: "But what are we going to do about the mylmores?"

Vadskye: "Oh, so now that you need help, it's "we"?  Make up your mind!  Anyway, I think I could set up a proximity detector.  If anything got near us during the night we would all wake up."

Dean: "But what about during the day?"

Vadskye: "I'm not sure.  Can any of your beasties you summon see invisible things?"

Deimos: No matter. I can make an ice shield.
Vadskye: It can protect you, but what about us?
Deimos: Hadn't thought of that. Anyway, let's go get that undead thing.
Vadskye: It saved us!
Deimos: I mean talk to it.
Vadskye: Okay. WOOCKARDOO!
He heard the undead dwarf call back.
Deimos: It's coming from over there. Let's go.

Vadskye: "Not so fast.  First of all, it's not a "thing".  It appears to be as smart as any of us.  Secondly, did you hear what it said?"

Deimos: "Well no but..."

Vadskye: "I couldn't catch the exact words, but the gist of it was to get out of the forest!  I think he's through talking to us.  Anyway, what about your creatures Dean?"

Deimos: You thick-headed thief! Dervol is in this forest! That's why we are here, and no undead dwarf will tell me otherwise! Now, come on. I am not afraid of werewolves. If it comes to that, they should fear me.
