HC Awards 2005
I read back some pages in the tavern and found 2 threads called "HC awards". One in 2004 and one in 2003. So why donīt we make one for 2005?
I also read some comments/complaints about the categories mentioned in these threads. So we wonīt "award" best/worst Homm3/Homm4 players this time, but probably some other, new stuff.
You can all make your suggestions about possible categories and we will finally make a list about the rewards (i would say not more than 10 - 15 categories), when "enough" suggestions are made.
My suggestions would be (some taken from the older award-threads, some suggestions are from members in those older threads, some are my own ideas...)
1. Funniest Poster
2. Biggest Spammer
3. Poster who made you think
4. Best Heroes V ideas
5. Best Newbie
6. Who wrote the most interesting story?
7. Who had the best idea for board improvement?
8. The most positive surprising Member?
9. The greatest disappointment?
....now itīs your time for suggestions...

I think we should keep this experience positive!
So, my 1st suggestion would be not to give someone a reward for "Biggest Disappointment". That would be the equivalent of giving a movie or an actor a Razzie. Which is usually not well received by those nominated or especially by those who win.
My 2nd suggestion would be to have a "Most Improved Poster" award. This would replace Angelito's "The most positive surprising Member" because it would not only be open to new members that improved quickly, but also for "old dogs" that made a comeback in their Posting quality, eh Bort?!
The "Best Newbie" award is a good idea, but it should specify that it is strictly a "Rookie" award. It would be reserved for people who joined HC in the last calendar year, because we all know that people can still be nOObs even though they have been around for years, right Woock?!
My next suggestion would be to have someone rewarded for "Most +QPs earned in the Year" or to have a "Highest +QP-per-Posts % of the Year" award.
My final suggestions would be to have a "Best Word-game of the Year" award & a "Best Thread of the Year" award.

Not a bad idea. How 'bout best thread for proposing
awards...I can think of a few people I would recommend,
so I'm all for it as long as the acceptance speeches
are kept under 30 seconds

I would recommend that there be a Sexiest Poster category...

Oh, oh, oh! I have another idea...
We could have a "People's Choice Award"!
Everyone would vote on who they consider to be their "Favorite Poster of the Year" and that person would get rewarded as such. This award would obviously be separate from the "Best Poster of the Year" award because this one would have objective requirements & judgement elements...whereas the "Favorite Poster of the Year" award we be strictly subjective and open to voting by all members.
