Strongest Town & Weakest Town in HOMM3

Ever since I started playing HOMM I tried to figure out which town is the strongest and which is the weakest, only to realise that once you master the game, you will manage to make the best of each town's special traits. Anyway, since I'm new to the community, i'd like to view your opinion on this subject.

I`ll think that Inferno is the weakest....

But not much weaker than any other town... (only because Inferno units cost so much)
Strongest is, of course, Conflux (That`s the reason why I dislike playing it.)
Also Sir Mullich should be banned....

Strongest: Flux and necro on big maps, flux on all other maps also.
Weakest: Fortress

Hehe...

For those who don't know :
There is now weakest town in HOMM3m,...but every castle has it's advantage or disadvantage...maybe the Tower is or the Fortress but the creators of the game thought well before they released it...it was a topic by GoldenDragon that disscused the same problem...

P.S. BoogieMan that's my avatar that you are posting with...please stay away from it

I belive that if you don't have many resources , the weakest town is Inferno , but if you have plenty of resources i belive the weakest town is fortress .
The most powerful town is a more delicate problem. It is in my belief that the towns competing for this position are Castle,Rampart,Tower,Dungeon and Conflux.
This is , at least my opinion.

For the weakest, Fortress is the winner. But that depends on the map. For example if it's a small map and you are with Fortress you can pick Bron and you can get yourself with sevral basilisks:you can win the game; Tower:a very cool town but if the map is poor you can't get to Titans and you can easily loose the battle;that's the same with Inferno; See the point?!
For the strongest I thik it's Dungeon,Rampart or Conflux.

That's my opinion!

Weakest town is clearly Conflux, they only get twice the number of level 7 creatures as any of the other town

Which town is the strongest depends on which map and arties are showing up. Not many can withstand the wrath of ancients if they are shielded by red orb, the same can be said of Mighy Muus.
But then again 2000 skels can also make the difference, aswell as Efreet Sultans with a good arma, and well the list goes on ;P

Since I started this topic I think I should state my opinion too. I consider Infreno and Fortress to be weakest. I have a very poor opinion on Necropolis too (beside Vampires and Dread Knites, they suck).
For the title of strongest town, the are 5 competitors from where I stand Castle and Conflux have a head start, but Rampart, Dungeon an Tower are not very far behind

Weakest and Strongest Town

This is my first post and i hope that it is a post
Hmmm i think the question about the strongest and weakest town cant be answered cause its decided by the map. Most people think that fortress is the weakest town but have u ever seen fortress on bfh And its often decided by the spells i mean if u have inferno and no offensive spell ur lost but if u have armageddon My favourite town is castle cause i think castle is a very good allround town on everymap each creature is good but i only think that the zealots have too less health and castle has good heroes and can also spell very good.My favourite town is castle at the moment but i think ill change it and try some games with rampart cause the resist of them is very good.

i say it would be, for fully maxed out castle with everything, best would be tower, dungeon, or necro...
the worst would be inferno... or perhaps fortress, even though i like it...

I think fortress is the best. If u know how to play it, Fortress kicks ass. Castle and Dungeon are too expensive. But worst of all towns is Conflux. Even with +4 phoenix growth.

There is no best or worst town in hmm3. If you train yourself with all the towns you will find that all the towns are great. A necro can beat a castle easy, if you know what to do, and a fortress can even be a efective offensive force.

'to all you fortress ignorants'

the swamp will suck you so deep , you'll need 3 hastes and a dispel to get out...anyway some disputes are too theoritical to turn out to a conclusion(like weak-strong thing)...BUT i would still like to see someone win having stronghold or inferno(=ok..having 80000dmg implosion makes your castle great)

You don't know how wrong U R, Insatiable!

I for one have won plenty of times, playing with Stronghold. Especially with Crag Hack, if U manage to  develop his attack skill, and with Terek: a mass Haste would give the upper-hand to your rampaging Behemoths. Not to mention that Goblins and Wolf-Raiders will be able to strike before they are hit, wich is very imporetant, considering their low Defense skill.

Fortress

Everyone knows about Mighty Gorgons as Fortress strength, but I still think many people don't use them correctly at the real place they matter. Mighty Gorgons allow you to challenge 6th and 7th level units with very low losses, and also way ahead of other towns. I have taken Utopia very often in week 2, and I even got it week 1 twice with Fortress(luck I admit for week 1, but still only possible with Fortress-Jeddite Expert Earth and 2 mighty in camp along with the 7 came with and dragons taking out gnolls and dragon fly taking retaliation)anyway, the secret to strength with fortress isn't going around the map gaining strength to take out the 7th levels, but go directly for them grab a couple artifacts and then attack early. If you can't siege- that isn't bad because before your opponent gets upgraded units they will be scared to leave town with theri 7th levels. The worst problem of Fortress will be fighting off H&R, but then with witches good skills and Dragon Flies, you can make interceptor heroes very well.  no town is totally weak, some just need different strategies. The frequent thing I've noticed is that the so called weaker towns have to be played more aggressively not less. Fortress and I think also Necro have unique units and Necro spells of Animate Dead to take advantage of things like Utopias. Inferno is maybe the most difficult to play aggressively and still have enough HP if they don't get good spells, but with 5th level guild and strong hero it's still possible in most situations to prevail if you keep in mind what you need to do, defeat not just the map. What does your enemy need the most? Time, resources, access to artifacts etc, then deny them that while getting what you must need.

Strong and weak towns...

What I personally mean with strong and weak towns that you can play with them easily.
You don't have to come up with strange strategies to keep hold your place in the battle with castle, dungeon or tower. These are in my opinion strongest towns in overall.
I play with Necropolis and Fortress almost all the time now and I play pretty defensively. Both in combat and in the overal game I don't rush but I don't hesitate to attack either.
Thing is that you need certain things with these weaker towns like fortress or inferno to cope with situation. You can much more relax with stronger towns. I never have learned to play really with inferno but it seems you have to make the ground units do the wet jobs. I believe demons and pit lords and their upgrades should be stronger if they could compete always against stronger towns. With Inferno you have to be offensive because troops are quick and have only one ranged unit.
With Fortress I usually wait and then take down the highest level troops with compined strikes of Gorgons, basilisks and Wyvers. Dragonflies die too soon and I usually try to use them to block ranged units not to use their ranged attacks. I use often more than one troop of dragonflies so enemy have to divide their forces. Lizard warriors are far too weak. Hydras I use often with teleport to help dragonflies and they can hold their own if high level units won't attack them. Bless and counterstrike spell have devastating effect when used to Hydras.

I believe you can learn to succesfully play with all the towns but I think there are some towns that really should be pretty much powered up to keep up in the competition with the stronger towns.

Let's see how the towns are in HoMM IV. Maybe 3do have now really succesfully balanced them and made "easier" to play and succeed with them all.
