i choose resource or artifact if i play easy difficulty(which i haven't done lately). the resources can help you speed up the building process by 1 or 2 days while 500-1000 gold is nothing significant. even artifact is better

When playin on Impossible difficulty i never pick an artifact. Usually the artifact is useless so its not worth it. When i play with an castle which has an resource silo who supplies wood and ore i take the resources, wood and ore are good starters. If i play with any of the other castles i'll pick the gold.. better to start u castle of than 5 diamonds...

One master gremlin costs 40 gold. This means that 500-1000 gives you 12-25 additional master gremlins. On impossible, you can't say that's not helpful in the first days.

Dwelling upgrade is about 1000. Grab some loose piles of gold and voila.

I was curious, but on Impossible-Random-Strong, once you hit 2500 gold, do you go Town Hall or buy another hero???
How much of the map do you need to see to determine this?

If the map is small, naturally town hall, if big, iŽd pick a new hero to collect gold and other nice resources...

not a bad question. and the answer is : everything depends upon the map to be played. If random map ( not a specific known random template, but original templates) I usually go for the gold too,but as I said, it depends 99% on the map to be played.

Hmm
Artifact ofcourse, you get a advantage for all time against your opoments. Thoe if your planing to atack fast and kill all in your way I would choose gold

such a pitty how on earth could you choose artifact? lol think of what arties you could get, what advantage? lol artifact picking is not good. if we should put advatnage it comes : gold or resources on 1st place, and 2nd is artifact ( on the last place)

I always pick rescources, since it's harder to accumulate those than gold. In the early game, at least...

It's either gold or resources.
but when i play fortress, stronghold or rampart i always take resources, cuz some extra wood ore and crystal won't hurt

For me, when I play Fortress, Stronghold, Necropolis, Castle, I will use resources. This is due to the fact that for resources, u will be taken 5-10 wood and ore for these towns but however for the other towns, u will be given only 3-6 of crystals or gems or mercury or sulphur. Besides, towns like Fortress need lots of wood. It needs a total of 155 wood to build all its structures in the town. For the other towns that I have not mentioned, I will use gold. For artifacts, the computer will randomly choose a Treasure Artifact. However, for me, I feel that having lots of resources at the start of the game is crucial so that one can develop his town quickly. Therefore, I normally don't choose artifacts.
