I've seen several Homms for Mac on Ebay. I can't remember for sure if HOMM3 was one of them.

Yep, I'm playing Heroes Complete on a Mac.
Should be compatible with current OS X software.
My old Mac runs 9.2 and Heroes III runs fine.
As to where to find a copy, just search the internet.
I'm sure it is out there.

Ebay. I bought my copy there. However, I don't think it runs on OSX, except using OS9 classic environment.

I looked at Heroes for mac a while back myself and from memory it doesn't have the map/campaign editors packaged with them. You can still download additional maps though just beware of that missing feature.
Can any of the Mac owners confirm this for me, I just read it online myself.

Yes, sadly there is no editor.

I was wondering if anyone could address the issue of playing random maps on a Mac???
I tried downloading the random maps, and put them in the data folder as rmg.txt and it didn't work. I then renamed the file rmg (as extensions are hidden) and no success. I"m pretty sure I had all the settings (players, size, etc.) correct.
Could any Mac users running random maps out there offer some advice?
I'm running Heroes Complete on system 9.2 for an iMac DV/SE.
Also, can a Mac user face off against a PC user on the Zone???
Thanks.

Im not sure about the Zone, but I read somewhere (im looking for the link now but cant find it yet) that saved games werent compatible. I.e. If you direct connected with a PC, you would be able to play but not save the game and come back at a later date. This didnt make sense to me but I dont have any mac friends to test with.
I want to buy a mac but my mate who i regularly play H3 with wont so im loathe to buy one in case we cant play heroes anymore.
Do you know if the Direct Connect/ saved games is an issue or is it just the Zone that wont work?
cheers

Mac's are better than windows like linux is but are way more expensive and arn't simple and worst of all not alot of programs are supported by them but yeah I like Macs and Linuxes better but I can't afford them so I only use them when I visit friends houses but yeah they have it on their computers and are better playing some how like less laggy and glitchy

I run Homm 3 on my macbook, there is a working torrent for homm3 ( complete) for mac at piratebay.
if you search : Heroes 3 multiplayer
you will end up with one result and that's the homm 3 with working mulitiplayer and map editor .
just download the torrent, open the folder that contains 2 apps. Heroes 3 complete& heroes 3 complete mapeditor, drag these 2 objects to the macintosh harddrive and so you can play this wonderfull game.

Hey, do these work only on Intel Macs? Because my Mac in OSX is not accepting this download: it says it has the wrong system.
