Inferno strategies.

Arguably the least popular town in HoMM3, with only one shooter (second level), and the two flyers are of the highest levels. Combine that with relatively unimpressive midlevel creatures (except the revive demon specialty), and you've got yourself a doozy to try to win with.

How do you guys do it?

my Inferno Strategy

3 words: Demons, Demons, Demons

take every creature you can get (2nd town, ref camps, joiners; doesn't work with necro/golems), get Pit Lords (the more, the better). Make one sacrifice stack when attacking wandering monsters and let them slaughter this stack. Ressurect demons with Pit Lords and kill the monsters with your Efreet & Devils (put them on wait). If you have enough "material", you should harvest 100+ demons per week on the right map.

Other strengths of Inferno: you get Efreet early = fast and strong unit; a decent armageddon chance; good specials

it works!!!

the "demonic horde" approach works fine with low level, low HP creatures... I've just tried it with some villagers... hehe...

yeah, it does..

But if u plan to sacrifice low level units, keep in mind that the ressurection is hit-point wise.. so you need 7 Halbediers (10 HP each) to ressurect 2 demons (35 HP each).. I usually run out of fluff units after some days

And better units (>35 HP) won't help too, since u cannot ressurect more demons than original troops.

So it's best to have some low level dwellings and a diplo hero around

My recommendation... stay as far away from Inferno as possible.

Agreed

I'm with you there, Gootch. But if you feel some irrational compulsion to play Inferno, here are my tips:

1) Expert Berserk is a must, because if they can attack you then you're toast. It also groups them nicely for Magog attacks.
2) Make liberal use of the wait button. Don't get anyone in combat before your Magogs fire if you can avoid it.
3) On second thought, don't upgrade Gogs at all. Their special becomes a vulnerability pretty quickly.

i also agree that better to stay off Inferno..best creatures IMHO are demons and efreets
its also useful sometimes to take that hero with this fire magic Inferno speciality..but its not easy to play with inferno against dungeon or castle caus they are tha best..

especially on high difficulty or resourse poor maps. You need just wood/ore + 2 mercury and 2 sulfur to get upto your level 6 unit. The only special resource that you need (mercury) you can produce yourself. No other town is so resouce independant as Inferno. On impossible or expert difficulty I will chose Inferno over any other town.

Inferno has some of the fastest units, and the late game AD/ES combo is arguably the best of all towns. Devils' specialty is awesome - a single devil can beat legions of slow wandering creatures like dendroids, zombies, etc. If you use Pit Lords correctly you can make up for the low HP that you have. Considering might alone Inferno will beat any other town, except Castle.

With expert fire magic you have a good chance to get spells that can win almost any battle - armageddon, berserk, frenzy, and sacrifice. The last two are custom made for your devils due to their speed and low HP. Also force field is very usefull for them.

Don't underestimate those hellhounds either.
They can realy save the day!

But its still sucks to play inferno.
Only Necropolis sucks even more.

I disagree

Inferno is among the best towns.

I wonder why no one mentioned the castle gate. This is what makes Inferno so powerful. You can build the towns and upgrade only one and voila! You can have your main hero goig round while only one can guard all the rest of the infernos and move when the enemy approaches.

Every one of them will give you +1 power. Boys and girls, Efreeti and Armageddon. SHould I say more?

Inferno tactics....

3 things:

1.  Get diplo on one of your heroes, (good when using any castle, but especially important when using inferno)

2.  Find yourself a rampart and get as many dwarfs as you can, they are the best creature for making demons.

3.  Get that 4th level mage guild as soon as possible.  You have a good chance at getting arma, it you do get it, pretty much game is over.  You can clear the entire map with nothing but efleets.

As I have said before, most of this is probably common knowledge, so call me stupid.

demon herding

why dont you use demons for demon herding? They have high HP (35). U can raise 1 vs 1 demons from them.

and this way you will never run out of creatures to be sacrificed as demons

If you find yourself a Bless spell, go for the Cerberi. They're quite sensitive due to their stretched damage range. With their speed and multi-hex attack, use the common tactics for taking out the enemies.
