Check out Igor Yamikov's sambo vids, awesomeness. He also has a whole buncha Russian style Judo vids which is pretty much my style in a nutshell.

This is the idea behind the whole kata system. Learn the katas and you have all the knowledge of the art in a compressed form. It's finding the uses for that knowledge that makes the practice.
As to what comes to similarities between karate/judo/aikido, D'uh, the human body is the same in all.

I fricking love this guy.
When he punches he really puts his whole body into it, can really feel the power behind those overheads.
Favourite one that I couldn't find is when before the match he just says "It'll be over in one punch" and then he DELIVERS.

Ju-Jutsu use a sword! Because Ju-Jutsu is Karate, Kung-fu, Aikido, Judo, boxing and wresting. Example my ex-coach asked why I want learn in Kung-Fu, when Ju-Jutsu is all. Where I was trying learn karate, and later taekwondo, and kung-fu or judo then found karate so. Now I know best is Tae-Jutsu, I could be first in world, but I don't feel and my knee problem.

Well jujutsu is an old samurai art  (Though your coach likely incorporated some kenjutsu in it) But while the roots for aikido and judo can be found there, I wouldn't be so sure of the rest. Kicks and punches can be applied all the same but they are not so much part of it which only makes me think that your coach was trying to get you on his side.
So.. did you get an arrow in the knee?

The video title promises something and it doesn't deliver.
People who press related videos when looking for self defense vids end up with a quite charming joke video, but get mad cuz it's wasting their time.
