The best Diff to play? Why?
I have this question for long time. And i have to say i can say 130%.
I wanted to play the higher diff possible but it's obvious that some towns are unplayable on 200% (Dungeon, Tower) or at least very hard to play.
Rampart, the most played town, loss a lot of power on 100% but that Diff not only favors might heroes to much....Ai don't work properly. so it goes for 130% or 160$ and even i liked more 160 because it favors more magic heroes and slow game. I get to the conclusion that 130% reduce the luck factor, since with some towns you don't have to pray for acces for that crystal to get pegasis, or 1 of each resource to get Mages. And helps a little to overcome the bad starts of on random maps bad zones. So 130% is my number, right now, what do you people think and why?

130 works for me. 130, medium random map with or without underground, random town, random hero, 2/4 min. turns, 1 on 1, and let the game begin. The best way to play if you ask me!

ATM I like playing on 200%. I'm playing score-games against AI only.

My choice is usually 160.
200 would be best but most of my friends don't like to fight for resources too hardly with, like you pointed out, Dungeon, Rampart or Tower.
130 is barely playable (ImO) because the game loses most of resources challenge.
100 or less are, as you said, simply unplayable for AI terible play and lack of challenge (of course I know the better player would win more often than not ... but ImO with harder difficulties the gap would be greater).
Anyhow with 160 a good player has a good chance to overcome any difficulties in getting what he needs.
All of this is for randoms or open ... in most of ToH closed maps I play resources are SO rich that the game really cry out for 200 :-)

I like to play either 130% or 160% on Med randoms. I don't like to play 200% impossible because it's only based on the town you get then mostly.

I usually play 130 with Toh players. However, I like 100% or lower. This games end fast. I have only 4 hours to play so its better for me to play fast 2 or 3 game than one long game.

Hmm... I usually play on 100 or 130. Sometimes even 80. That's when I'm lazy and don't want to bother with tactics and other boring stuff.

At 4th month, week 1 and later if I start a battle, Heroes crush and get me to Windows Desktop. Tried everything, from save\load to reinstallation., but nothing. My friend has the same problem. So I must play on 100% untill I buy Heroes IV

I thing that only a player that never played online vs other people could play less than 200%.
It would be really embarasing for me to play anything else than 200%. Aswell as talking about diplomacy
