Problems with making a map

I feel really dumb asking this, especially because of my vast Heores map making history. But, why is it when I make a map, that I can't see it in the list of scenarios? I know in Heroes 3, I had to validate the map to make sure there were no problems, but I can't find that in Heroes 4. What do I have to do?

There is no 'validating' in HOMMIV, more's the pity.  I wish there was a test option, so you could run a hero around the map to get a feel for how it played while still in edit mode.
Is your map file being saved in the same folder with the other maps?  When I save with the others, it shows up in my scenario list.  That's as far as my technical knowledge goes.  :\

Well, I changed some stuff around, but now when I try to play the map it says "file [mapname] is bad." and doesn't open it. Anyone know what could be wrong?

That's usually caused by the Emerald Longbow/Nomad Blackbow bug which was fixed in version 3.0.  It happens when you have those artifacts enabled in customize artifacts, and I think when there is also a random artifact in the map.  If you want them available, just place them on the ground, but disable them in custom artifacts.

HELP!

And there I was, thinking it always happens to somebody else...

My game crashes whenever I try to start this map. It is an XL WoG scenario with random creatures and resources. The problem is I made the map myself, so I cannot simply forget it

The only unusual thing I've done during the mapmaking was deleting the whole underground in the "general menu" in the map properties. (I put it back, but the game still crashes before it even loads the map).

All other maps, from SoD to scripted WoG to wogify_maps work well and the game doesn't crashes.

P.S. I'm sorry if you've already seen this topic somewhere else. I'm really upset and would appreciate all the help I can get. Thanks!
