You can compare it to rome, and things like that if you want to, if it was the writers intention to do this he would've made it with older ppl, and the movie would be alot longer than 3, 4 days.. Cuz before 20 year old cival ppl start killing eachother, it takes alot more than peer pressure to 7&8 year olds.
Did anyone ever ask the writer what he meant? It could be he just wrote a story about kids getting stranded without sane adults.

You know what? You could be right. Truth is that some of the classics were, in fact, written with no intention for hidden meanings. The reason they appear may be because when an author puts his soul into a book, all of his views and ideas get into the book, even if he doesn't mean to include them. This could be the case here.

The Lord of the Flies is a (pretty bad imho) translation of the name of a biblical character named beelzebub (kinda like the devil) who appears in the novel (and movie?) as a pig's head.
