Vlaad's 111th Birthday
Dear Friends,
I haven't been with you for a long time, although I'd been reading this forum every day for two years and got to know most of you well (some not half as well as I'd like, and some half as well as they deserve... or something like that).
I've posted about one hundred times, mostly in this section. This might be one of my lasts posts so I allow me to be melodramatic today.
On December, 1st I'm going to start serving the army (all men have to, since my country has no professional troops). Pretty soon, I'll learn Basic Archery, Logistics, Tactics, Scouting, Offense... and have a full backpack of useless artifacts. Unfortunately, I'm afraid Town Portal will be disabled. Hopefully, I won't have to pursue and engage anybody!
After that, in a year, I'm probably getting married to my highschool sweetheart and getting a full-time job. I'll do my best to find some time for the best game ever (gee, I hope those geeks from the AoW forums won't read this!)... but it's more likely I'll be playing Heroes VIII with my kids one fine day. I hope I'm wrong because I envy all of you who'll enjoy 3.58 this Christmas...
Oh, before moderators move this thread to some other section of the forum, I'll stick to the topic.
I've finally finished or updated my maps so they can be downloaded and played by those who might like them.
-----------------------
Europe B.C. (XL, WoG 3.57f, best for multiplayer, 8/8 human)
Description: The greatest heroes of Erathia sailed away to explore and conquer
a new continent called... Europe.
Additional Info: By "the greatest heroes" I mean the heroes from campaigns:
Gelu, Dracon, Xeron, Mutare (why isn't she called "Drake" meaning "Dragon"?
She "mutares" later...) etc.
This is obviously a powerplay and potentially unbalanced map... but it should
be fun! :-)
A note about copyright: There have been several "Europe" maps so far, one of
them on the official CD. However, this map is completely original.
Finally, this was supposed to be a wogify_map, but the game keeps on crashing
if ERM is removed. If someone can help me, please e-mail me!
Gelu's Legacy(UPDATED, XL, WoG 3.57, singleplayer)
I've always loved the introduction at WoG's official site: Do you really believe that two
pieces of iron could destroy a world? Thanks to the WoG team, Erathia's heroes are
more alive than ever! But what happened to all of them...?
Description: After the battle with barbarian hero Kilgor,
Gelu managed to escape through a portal
and found himself in a strange new world.
IMPORTANT: Unpack .pcx files to your Heroes/Data folder!!!
CREDITS: I have no idea who created the Arena script and its .pcx file, but I want to thank him/her publicly for this masterpiece!!!
Gelu's Legacy 2: The Rise of Nagash(XL, WoG 3.57, singleplayer)
Description: Having defeated Kilgor, Gelu continued to explore the new lands...
but his demons were not far behind.
Additional Info: This scenario comes after Gelu's Legacy (part one). It's not a campaign
because of those 1,000 people who have already downloaded and finish part one.
Note: These maps have no fantasy missives, Tolkien rip-offs etc. There is some story,
but they're basically simple adventure games with tiny bits of role playing.
CREDITS: Thanks to Rasputin, who not only tested this map zillion times but also
came up with some neat ideas. And thanks to Fnord for his patience! :-)
War in Middle-earth(UPDATED, XL, WoG 3.57, singleplayer)
Description: Without the help of the Elves, Men face Sauron on their own.
Saruman betrays Gandalf and creates a powerful army of Uruk-hai.
Take the One Ring to Mordor and destroy it in the fire of Mt. Doom,
but do not lose Gandalf - he would die, not dye! :-)
Additional Info: The first version of this map called "War of the Ring" has been on WoG's
official site for a looong time and it SUCKS! Version 2.0 also sucks! It
even had "the" in the title ("War in the Middle-earth" - please delete this
file from your Maps folder because it will not be simply overwritten!). The
final version is not great either, but it should be bug-free. Sadly, the promising
"Napalm Thrower" script seems to be too bugged. Finally, I had planned to
make a really detailed scenario (v. 3.0?) but the WoG team promised us a
"Rings" campaign, so...
------------------------
In spite of testing and re-testing, I'm aware these maps might have some unexpected bugs.
You can send your notes, suggestions, critics and credit card numbers to me or share them with others in this thread.
If you've read the whole post now, you must be rather tired so I'll let you go.
Thanks for listening!
Best wishes,
Vlaad

I see no reason to move this thread so it will stay for all WoG fans that know you to read.

I Wish You Well
Vlad:
I wish you well on both of your new endeavors. Both the military and marriage are challenges. I'm sure you're up for both.
Keep in touch.
