Are you keeping the isometric view introduced in HoMM4, going back to the old "flatness" of 1/2/3 or making something new?

are you planing on keeping the H4 skills system? or reverting to either H2/H3 or maybe planning on trying something like the WOG team did?

Which creature levels system will you use?

HoMM1 - one of each level per town, no upgrades
HoMM2 - one of each level per town, some creatures upgradable
HoMM3 - one of each level per town, all creatures upgradable
HoMM4 - two of each level per town, no upgrades

Here a few answers, but please dont feel frustrated when I say its too early to tell.

New features : there are a few major new features we are discussing at this point, but as these would be the reason why we make Heroes 5, I cant disclose them just right now.

Views : it will also be improved a lot, however trying to keep it simple to use.

Skill/spell system, creature levels : being discussed, we will not use H4/H3 system but make up something new, starting from them.

Heroes on/off battlefield : just a few people left to kill and we should reach an agreement... But I think I have a good solution

Storyline : I'd like to return the question and have your opinion about it (in a different thread I think). Open question at this stage.

Towns : going to be improved a lot, yes they will look different.

please excuse me for being so rude, but i am tempted to ask how you know that views and towns will be improved a lot beforehand? i.e. how do you know that the change is really an improvement? lol, imho the sucessful features of homm are often beyond any common sense (i mean computer game business stereotypical common sense) comprehension.

imho e.g. warcraft3 interface turned out less comfortable and clear than starcraft and i wouldn't say it was really an improvement over starcraft, although a lot more work must have been put into it.

warcraft3 had a lot of publicity and as far as i know it probably also sells good. i doubt the same is very likely in this scope with a homm type game. homm has some imho very strong concepts but they are often not the stereotypically most popular ones.

at the same time, some rather primitive card games with primitive interface (compared to warcraft3) enjoy great popularity (they are mostly free, though). i havn't played them much myself, i guess one of them is called solitaire.

so, to put it short:

1) what could be the strategy (or whatever you call it) of generating the homm5 ideas that makes you so confident that the changes will turn out as a big improvement?

2) what are in your opinion the main reasons for sucess of a homm type game in general? i.e. what is it that attracts people in a homm type game?

Will any Heroes present in previous iterations of the series be present? (e.g., Heroes that were not present in Heroes IV) Like, perhaps, Mutare of Heroes III: Armageddon's Blade fame?

When is Ubisoft planning to announce Heroes 5?

Are you planning for more interaction with the map? (Like interactive landscape, weather, spells that affect only the adventure map or similar)

Are you planning for increased interaction between players? (Diplomacy system or similar)

Sandro : we'll see.

Market we're aiming at : that's the good question We want to improve the game a lot and appeal to much more people. Sounds like a common marketing tradeline doesnt it ? But we also want to appeal to the fans, otherwise I wouldnt be here.

Multiplayer : a large part of discussions of course, everything is considered.

RPG / strategy balance : I think HoMM is mostly a strategy game.

Patching : we will if needed, but a patched game also means an unbalanced game at the release.

Engine : as former NWC material, starting anew.

Team/employees : cant disclose yet, for NWC employees I said we are considering this.

Music : the music will be like in Heroes 5.

Demo : Of course.

New features : along with our vision of the game, they are basically the reason why we make Heroes 5. However I cant disclose this now.

Sfx : forget what you've seen elsewhere.

To Gerdash : How do I know it will turn out better ? Hey, I'm paid to know ! More precisely, I want to make all interfaces and mostly choices a lot clearer. It will be better visually, but also easier to use. This is critical in order for any player to be able to enter any game.

About the reasons for the success of the HoMM series, I'd like to return the question to you fans. What is it that attracs people, and what differentiate it from other strategy games ?

MP : I said at the RT that we are working on this, it is a large part of the game. I'd like to make open betatest, but there is an incredible number of obstacles, like code dispersion, leak of ideas and assets, confidentiality... We'll see.

Random map generator : I'd like to have that. I'll keep you posted.

Previous heroes / story : this is also a point I answered, we are discussing this and any opinion is welcomed.

More interaction with the map / between players : being discussed, however this is not critical.

3D : for the whole game !
