Shadowcaster ate ravenously and asked for seconds before Gorm had even turned away. The archangel was surprised to see the food consumed so quickly, and instead offered the shadow mage a drink while he began to prepare another serving. Seven servings later, Shadowcaster called it quits and finally put his plate down. The archangel was growing on him.

But Shadowcaster could not ally with him, it was impossible. Any archangel, while Gorm was a special case, was aligned with good, with the side of light. Such a clash would not bode well for the shadow mage, for light always tended to drown out the darkness. He had to be careful around this one. Hopefully, the archangel's light would not affect his shadow, but the notion of a loophole in the shadow mage's plan was unnacceptable and very unsettling. He would have remain on good terms with Gorm until his darkness was impenetrable, something which may or may not be possible for the shadow mage. Everyone has their limits, and hopefully, Shadowcaster had not reached his.

The archangel spoke up, "You sure can eat. How long had you been laying there?" But Shadowcaster had already fallen asleep. Or so it seemed.

With his eyes closed, Shadowcaster was alone again. He craved this solitude, but obtaining such was impossible at the moment. He could not ask for it, because that isolation would kill him at the moment. The shadow mage would need his health back first. He was, however, growing stronger each day. Shadowcaster would be fully recovered soon, and then he could set his plan into motion. He began to plot.

Deception was by far his most powerful tool. With it, he could control others, he could manipulate and twist their loyalties from the shadows with no risk to himself. He would turn the sides of Order and Chaos against not only one another, but against themselves as well. He did not know that both parties were slowly dissolving, but that detail would not affect his plans. But he wouldn't be able to do it alone. Some kind of partnership would be needed. Shadowcaster began cycling through the candidates.

First was Gorm, the archangel who had saved his life. While seeming nice enough, Gorm seemed to lack the malintention necessary for such deception as his plan called for. Besides, archangels weren't exactly the lightest treaders. No, he would stay with Gorm only as long as was necessary, no longer.

Wolfman would make a good partner, but he had always seemed to follow the rulebook a bit too strictly, even when times had called for drastic measures. While powerful, Wolfman was by no means like Shadowcaster. In fact, the two had fairly opposite personalities. While opposites could form good friendships, they only served to weaken the effectiveness of alliances. Wolfman would not do either.

RSF...hah! His rival thought that he was dead. The element of surprise was with the shadow mage, and he wasn't about to give that up. Besides, the time mage still likely hated him.

Shadowcaster began to think harder. Deimos was too independent, too wild. Such vivacity could not be controlled, only directed, and Shadowcaster did not feel like babysitting. Deimos would, however, prove a powerful tool. Vadskye was too devoted to RSF and to Woock, he would never join a member of the other side, and Woock was essential to his plans. Dingo...hmmm. The shadow mage began to think. Dingo was usually pretty reserved, a definite plus. However, he would be in constant danger of hypnosis, a risk that the cautious shadow mage was not about to take. Then finally, it hit him.

Silver! The little gnome's loyalties lied within the same sphere as Shadowcaster's, and he never seemed averse to deceiving others or spreading mischief. The shadow mage's head still ached from his run in with those invisible walls. Yes, the gnome would be the perfect partner, he was decpetive, he was crafty. But so little was still known about him, Silver was still a mystery to Shadowcaster. And his breath...

Despite his injuries, Shadowcaster sprung up and shouted, startling Gorm. "We must hurry! To the Chaos fort!" The shadow mage stood and began running, but soon found himself lost and exhausted. He turned back to Gorm, who was still only ten feet away, and pleaded with him to take him to the Chaos fort.

"I'll tell you where to go once I know where we are, but please, we must hurry. I have some...um, important business there and I would like you to come along and help me find what I am looking for."

All the while, Shadowcaster's mind was racing. Things fell into place, his plan congealed, and for the first time since his "death", he smiled as he waited for Gorm's answer. He had to find that gnome.

Deimos headed back to the Chaos Fort, in which he found Romana.
Deimos: Come with me.
Deimos started walking to the Order Fort, but on the way he met Shadow and Gorman.
Deimos: Shadow! Good to see you up!
Shadow: Get out of my way.
Deimos: What's with the rudeness, huh? Anyway, I need your help. You see... where should I begin... Ah. Well, while you were asleep, we, that is Vadskye, MM, and I, carried you over to the Order Fort.
Shadow: Why to the Order Fort?
Deimos: I don't know. It was convenient for Vadskye. BTW, there's a truce. Anyway, we left and went, rather flew, into a cave. We were following RSF, who was acting strangely.
Shadow: Strangely? Strangely how?
Deimos: He ran from his own party members. As I was saying, we flew into the cave, in which we found RSF. He ran from us. This was suspicious. We couldn't follow him, because he is a time mage. Vadskye contacted Woock and Silver. Woock came, Silver didn't. Anyway, Vadskye and Woock went off to find RSF. Then I ran after them. Soon, I heard yells. MM was hypnotised by Dingo. He let him escape. We followed Dingo, who created a hand to carry him and RSF away. He sacrificed Mvass and the diamond to... become the God of Dark Spam.

*Elsewhere we find Mighty Mage dozing next to his campfire.  He was in need of a rest considering the previous nights "activities".  Finally falling into a deep sleep, Mighty Mage cannot help but think of everything that has happened.  It all seemed so nice, a party to celebrate the end of a long war, the joining of two conflicting sides, and the news pertaining to his friend, the lord of spam's rising from the dead.  This was nice and all but as the saying goes "you can only have so much of a good thing".  This applied to Mighty Mage, oh did it ever.  After finding the startling news that an old friend had in fact gone completely mad shifted the night's joy into a sudden search for the Time Mage.  This lead Mighty Mage to what seemed to be a specially designed cave, twisting and turning with traps at every corner.  After wandering around the caverns for hours on end, Mighty Mage discoverd the insane RSF who immeadiatly saw a threat in the mage and captured him.  Having Dingo hypnotise him, RSF used Mighty Mage's power to take him to a special cavern which contained the powerful Fire Wizard, Mvassilev's corpse.  It wasn't long before the spell had been cast and Dingo gained his new powers.  He now controled the ever mysterious DARK SPAM.  Leaving Mighty Mage for the dead, Dingo and RSF took off to claim the throne of the Spam King.  Now Mighty Mage is after them to stop the evil that has been done and once again make the world safe.

Mighty Mage:  Huh?  What was that?

*rustle Rustle*

Mighty Mage:  There it is again.

* The thief that had been sent to "retrieve" Mighty Mage had also dozed off*

Mighty Mage:  What's this now?

*Having discoverd the thief, Mighty Mage knew now what was at stake.  He had seen this man before with the group that ambushed him some weeks ago.*

Mighty Mage:  Who are you and what do you want?

Thief:  I will never tell.

Mighty Mage:  I am NOT in a life sparing mood.

Thief:  You are in no place to make threats my friend.

Mighty Mage:  You were sent by RSF wern't you.  TELL ME!

Thief:  The time wizard?  Please.  He is of no concern to us.  A minor obsticle to remove, that is all.  Now unhand me.

Mighty Mage:  I will do no such thing.

Thief:  Then I will have to remove myself...

*In a sudden flash of light and smoke the Thief disapears.*

Mighty Mage:  Great, two people after me.  I can't stay here then.  I must go.  If I can't stop RSF than...I don't even want to think of what could happen.

*So Mighty Mage sets off to continue his search of Dingo and RSF.  It won't be long til the two unleash their ultimate plan.  But what if what the Thief said is true?  Is there really somone more powreful than Dingo and RSF?*

Gorman: Hold onto your horses Shadowcastor...I have an easier way to your fort if you will just wait, and listen to my tale on the way. First, please turn around while I get my goods. I will not just leave...useful pots and pans laying about!

*Shadowcastor sighs and turns around. Meanwhile I keep my eyes locked on him and grab all of my stolen loot from their hidden hide-aways*

Gorman: All right, I'm ready. Now come over here and...please, don't throw up on my armor. I just washed it!

*Shadowcastor looks confused but comes closer anyway. I pick him up and start taking off w/my great wings from the groove. Shadowcastor gasps at how high he is.*

Gorman: Now for the second part of my story. When I died, the gods had a meeting for which of them was to take me for their divine paladin. All the gods already had their own paladin's, except for the god of Thieves and the common criminals. He was a god of quick wits and even quicker judgements. His name is unpronouncable, as he rather prefers to be known simply as the Crook, which suits him well. He chose me for his Archangel because I was slain by some of his favored servents. As I journeyed to this land I was often giving the misinterpretation that I was a "good" angel. And yet, when I robbed innkeepers blind they would alway blame someone else, with the added fact that I would hide a belonging or two of the inkeepers into there bag or cloak with out them knowing. As I saw you lying in that room, I felt a pity towards you. Perhaps it was my god knowing something about you that I have yet to find out... hmm?
Shadowcastor: That....seems very believable. *not knowing quite what to make of it*
Gorman: I do not intend to make it believable, it is the truth whether you care to admit it or not. We are nearly there, which side of the fort do you wish to land on?

The shadow mage hated heights, but this was a necessary evil on the way to finding the gnome. One thing puzzled him, though, this story of Gorm's past related him to the archangel, for they worshipped the same deity. Strange as it sounded, Gorm was, at the moment, Shadowcaster's guardian angel.

"Which side of the fort do you want to land on?"

They were already there! Glad the ride was over, the shadow mage asserted that it didn't matter to him, so he and Gorm touched down at the front gate. Deimos was waiting there, for what eluded the shadow mage. He looked up at the sun and squinted, due partly to the brightness and partly out of spite for his weakness. He turned to Gorm and said, "Wait here, I wouldn't want Deimos to attack you. He tends to fly off the handle around people he suspects of being evil." Gorm had no problem staying, but Shadowcaster didn't know why.

The shadow mage exited the brush the pair had landed in and began to limp toward the fort. As the magog recognized him, he approached Shadowcaster and tried to tell him of what had been going on, but to no avail. The mage just walked by Deimos, not listening to a word he said. He only wanted to find Silver. Deimos' voice rose in volume and he began following him. Shadowcaster couldn't block his words out any longer and he heard Deimos say.

"Stop ignoring me, Shadow. What do you think you're doing?!"

Shadowcaster turned, and harshly said, "I will rob the Order fort," in an attempt to shake Deimos off. It didn't work, and the magog kept talking.

"Don't, there's a truce."

The shadow mage sighed and asked if Silver was in the fort. The magog replied that he hadn't seen him, then asked why Shadowcaster was so interested in finding the little gnome. No reply was given, and instead, the shadow mage hobbled quickly toward the brush in an attempt to get to Gorman and escape, but he wouldn't get away. Deimos easily caught up and stood in his way.

"Tell me what you're up to Shadow."

Knowing that Gorm was watching from the bushes, Shadowcaster fell as if he had been attacked and then yelled for help. As expected, Gorm dashed out of the bushes, knocked Deimos aside, and flew off with Shadowcaster in tow before the magog even knew what was happening. Deimos looked up and shouted:

"You won't get away with this!"

Safely in flight again, Gorm looked down at the shadow mage, who had gone limp, and asked if he was alright. Shadowcaster immediately tensed to show the archangel that he was alright and asserted that it was just his fear of heights that was troubling him. He then asked Gorm if they could fly to the Order fort.

"Do you know where it is?"

"Uh...yeah. I visited there once," the archangel said slyly. He then quickly changed the subject.

"By the way, who's Silver?"

*"So who's Silver anyway?"  That voice sounded strangely familier but no one was to be seen.  Looking up, Mighty Mage sees what appears to be an angel.  What's odd though is the fact that he is carrying someone with him.  Odd.  As Mighty Mage approaches the Order Fort, a gaurd jumps out at him scraeming*

Gaurd:  AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Mighty Mage:  Holy SHI...

*Mighty Mage blasted the gaurd back with an Ice Blast leaving him frozen solid on the ground.*

Mighty Mage:  What the.....a gaurd?  Why was he acting so crazy?  What the hell was he do...DINGO.  Dingo must have hypnotized him.

*Leaving the gaurd to thaw, Mighty Mage enters the Order Fort to look for RSF and Dingo.  Seeing what looks to have been a battle, Mighty Mage concludes that Woock must have been killed.  Spam is everywhere, not to mention the blood.  Poor Woock must have gotten the SPAM beaten out of him.  Looking around even more, Mighty Mage sees no one is nearby.  They must have all ran.*

Mighty Mage:  DINGO!  RSF!  GET OVER HERE!

*No sound.  It's as if they have left.  But why?  Mighty Mage tries to call them again.*

Mighty Mage:  I SWEAR I'LL BURN THIS PLACE DOWN UNTIL I FIND YOU ROTTEN SONS OF...What's this now?

*Mighty Mage finds a note nailed to the wall where Woock's throne once sat.*

Mighty Mage:  "Dear stupid Order freaks.  We killed your leader and took his throne.  Your slavery under the new world order is imminent.  Resistance is FUTILE.  Please move to the nearest Factory Camp we have set up so you can be assimilated.  Have a nice day.
RedSoxFan and Dingo (Your new leaders)"

*Seeing this note just fueled Mighty Mage's anger even more making him burn the note quickly to ashes.*

Mighty Mage:  So, the cowards left.  No matter, I'll find them eventually.  They always get caught.  ALWAYS.

Shadowcastor: Silver is a gnome, a friend of mine. He's highly skilled in illusionary magic.

"Stealing? No no no, I'm here to find an old friend of mine."

"Silver?"

"Yeah, though I doubt he's going to be here. We have to tread softly--"

Gorm was no longer there, and upon inspection of the area, Shadowcaster spotted him high above. There was no brush to hide in, but, for some reason, the archangel insisted on remaining unseen. Shadowcaster sighed, but soon found it to be easier without an accomplice with a seven foot wingspan. He crept into the fort through the door he had entered so long ago with Mvass. Lucky for him, those days were long gone.

The boulder had already been moved and the fort was not as well hidden or as heavily guarded as it had been when he had last set foot in this place. The shadow mage assumed it was due to the truce, but he was still unaware that his rival and Dingo had torn the Order party apart forever. That chapter of the war had ended, and the next was about to be sparked off.

Creeping silently through the well lit fort, Shadowcaster fell upon a trail of blood that began near the entrance and disappeared down a nearby hallway. Curiously, he followed it through several corridors and down two flights of stairs, a very different path than the one he had intended on taking. He finally traced it back to a bedchamber.

The room was rather large and was stripped clean of any memorabilia, aside from one crumpled picture which was apparently of little value to the thief. As he approached where it lay, he could see that the photograph had taken much wear. It must have been very old. The shadow mage stooped to pick it up and cradled the photo gently in his hand. He was surprised to see himself, along with his friend, standing in front of a large statue of the God of Spam, a memory of happier times for him and his friend. He dropped the photo as he realized what room he was in, and had there been anything left, he would have taken it for himself. But there wasn't, so he left.

The shadow mage decided that the place had been abandoned in light of the truce, and he began to follow the trail of blood back. He now looked at the caked blood instead of where it led, and saw fingerprints on a wall. Whoever this thief was had also murdered someone and dragged him outside, and Shadowcaster only hoped that his friend was alive. He longed to see the look of surprise on the time mage's face as he balanced the wrongs that had been done to him. He no longer thought only about revenge, but the thought still pleased the shadow mage. If his friend had been murdered, then Shadowcaster would kill the thief in his place. Either way, he would be satisfied in his superiority to his friend.

He began to carefully chip off the stone that held the prints and placed them carefully in his pocket. Shadowcaster loved a good mystery, but he still had to find the gnome, and that was more important. The shadow mage quickly followed the trail back to the entrance when he heard footsteps ahead and saw a figure round the bend.

God In A Tavern?

The gnome sat quietly staring at the oddly dressed man with wings like an eagle. He reached into his carry pouch and pulled out his pipe. Silver took his time to light it with a small ember he had carried over from the bar when he entered. The air sat filled with tiny clouds that depicted images of people, places, and things. The two eyed the puffs carefully in amazement for a short while before returning to the untrusting gaze from the gnome. Many a minute passed through an uncomfortable silence before the little gnome answered.

"Aye, that's me. State your business with me eagle-man. Who are ye and why have ye come?"

God of Dark SPAM

Dingo realized that being the God of Dark SPAM gave him many enemies.  He needed to have Fortress.  Caves would be nice, especially if there were many passages.  Only problem was that in Caves, it would be difficult to see the landscape.  Dingo thought about how the Fortress would be set up.  It should only be entered though caves, and then the Fort itself would rest on top of mountains.

Dingo:  RSF where are the nearest mountains?  I think a ridge of mountains with caves would be a nice Fort.

RSF:  Let’s have a look.

They both cautiously exit the Chaos Fort.  No one was around, the coast was clear.  They both searched the skies.

RSF:  Over there, I see some mountains.  They are far away.  Plus at the bottom I see a village.

Dingo:  How can you see that far?  I don’t see a village.

RSF:  I remember there is a small village below the mountains.

Dingo:  Have you been there?  Maybe if you people know you, they can help us?

RSF:  When I was recruiting people for Order, I went there.  Those people listen to their little miniature King.  They wouldn’t help us.

Dingo then realized even if there were caverns in the mountains, it would still be difficult to build a Fortress.  The Fortress also had to have been built fast and even with RSF’s help it would take a while.  Unless the village helped somehow.

Dingo:  I got an Idea.

Dingo and RSF started traveling towards the village.  As they were walking, RSF grabbed Dingo and pulled him under some trees.

RSF:  There is something flying in the sky.

RSF pointed at an object in the sky, which seemed to be an Angel.

Dingo:  If that thing is against us, that’s not good.  Now we have to avoid a flying creature.  We better hurry up and get to the village.

A Friend In Need Could Be A Friend Indeed

They observed as the plumes rose threw the stale air of the tavern. Silver took a few more puffs and asked,

"Shadowcaster? Aye, I know him. We've fought together in the past. I like his style, though a bit dark in nature. Reminds me of home. I'll need proof of something first. I need to know the true animal if you get my meaning. This man knows the shadows too well. Can you find out if he be man or if he be drow?"

They sat there a few more minutes both realizing the nature of the question. It wasn't often that a person was asked of his past. It usually meant information at a costly level.

Silver prodded some more, "There be a hefty reward in it for ye bird-man. What say you?"

Gorman: How about this Silver, you ask him yourself if he's a man or a drow when we reach him? And my reward? I need none, but how about this, if you just agree and come with me, I'll spare your life. If you attempt any spells I'll run you through right here and now. I'm in a hurry and am in no mood for games. I have work to do and my god needs the work done. Now, kindly set all of your magic components for the crafting of spells and any weapons u have on the table top.

*I withdraw my hand from his shoulder and keep my sword firmly against his throat*

Gorman: Any sudden actions will result in the barroom to become a terribly messy place. Understood?

*swivels around so that I can see what Silver will be getting from under the table. "in other words I'm sitting in a chair right next to him" I keep my eyes on him and while he is thinking about it, I take a quick glance around the tavern. It's almost empty except for a couple of customers on the other end laughing drunkinly and the barman serving more ale*

The two walk side by side as they pace through the brush.

Dingo: "Isn't that damn, Angel gonna leave?"

RSF: "Patience, Dingo, patience."

As the two walk along RSF begins to recall some more information he learned on his visit to the village long ago.

RSF: "I remembered some more stuff about the village. In those mountains there is a cursed forest. It was cursed by a God long before Lord_Woock was even born. The God who cursed the forest was the God of the Sky. A civilization of elves that once lived there, kidnapped the daughter of the God and as punishment he banished them from there lands and made it infertile. The forest was forever covered in thick clouds as well as fog, blocking out all sun. The land is always dark during the day. The trees have all but died. The leaves have turned black and the bark is covered in scum and mold. The underbrush is fairly thick. And the trees are dense together. Oddly enough the forest is as bright during the day as it is at night. At night the scum on the trees give off a faint, eerie glow. There's no burning down this forest. The land is covered in a damp slime much like a swamp. No the God of the Sky would not see his cursed forest to simply be burnt down and rebuilt. It would forever be as he wishes, a cursed forest. Nothing less and nothing more."

Dingo: "Cool. That Angel finally left."

RSF: "Were you even listening?"

Dingo: "Of course, you talked about the cursed forest. It sounds like a great place for our Dark Spamlings to regenerate."

RSF: "Exactly."

After half an hour or so, the two reach the waterfall.

RSF: "Remember this place?"

RSF smiles at Dingo.

Dingo: "No. I don't remember this place at all."

Dingo smiles back at RSF. The two climb the hill to the top of the waterfall and follow the river from there. According to RSF's memory, following the river will take you straight to the village. After another hour or so RSF has brainstormed some good ideas for defenses and decides to share them with Dingo.

RSF: "We could booby-trap the entire forest, and hide spamlings around every corner waiting to strike. I can make some gopher holes that can hold several spamlings. They are perfect for an ambush on the unsuspecting enemy. First we dig a big hole in the ground and cover it up with brush. Then when the enemy gets close the spamlings charge out and attack. I also plan to use Dark Spam's wonderful properties slickness here as well. Around our central fort or our inner base, we will have a long slope that will be covered in dark spam. Anyone who walks on it will slip and fall down the entire slope. At the bottom will be rows of spikes. The enemies will slip and fall into the spikes. Pretty effective huh? Kinda like a moat you might say. In that area would should make sure all the trees are covered in Dark Spam as well. That way no one can just climb over our traps."

Dingo: "Sounds like we're gonna need a lot of help."

RSF: "Be more positive, Dingo. This will be a perfect place for our fortress."

Hrmf...

Silver doesn't move a muscle. He slowly puts his hands in the air. Gorman motions for him to empty his pockets of gadgets and trinkets. The little gnome does exactly that. He takes the tiny bags belted to his waist and his napsack. He slowly and cautiously empties the contents onto the table. Gorman asks him if that's all he's got. Silver responds by saying, "Aye, that be all of it outlander." Silver winks his eye and there are suddenly 5 of him standing with their hands up facing Gorman. The little gnomes laugh as they all start dancing on the tabletops.

"Which of me can it be! Which of me can it be! Which of me can it be!"

The gnomes taunted as they all danced and paraded on the tables. The tavern folk were beginning to become very entertained by the dancing and singing gnomes. The gnomes all proceeded to dance around Gorman while holding hands then suddenly, disappeared. The tavern became very quiet as everyone saw the enraged Gorman getting more and more angry.

Gorman looked over at where the gnome's personal affects had been placed on the table. He went to grab one and it disappeared. He touched the others and they too disappeared. At this point he was in such a rage as to cause everyone to leave the tavern.

Gorman: Blast that gnome!

*As I storm out the door I toss a few gold coins at the bartender. I leap up into the air and flap my powerful wings, looking around at the ground for anybody that may be hiding or trying to follow me, I start flying around in circles growing into larger and larger circles. I eventually fly over what appears to be a forest that seems...unnatural in a way. Clouds cover over it and no sunlight appears to reach the tree's underneath them. A thick fog seems to cut through the trees, being able to see into the forest is near impossible. However, the sound of voices from far below can be heard. What is being said is another matter. There appears to be two voices....yet what they are saying...undescribable. Remembering the location on the forest, I fly in a direction far less traveled. I head towards the home of gnomes. As I approach the mountain, I see many small figures walking around on the ground, I see the entrance from far above, in case someone plans on some illusions. I land and enter the caves, the many gnomes look at me in awe, obviously thinking that I'm an Angel sent from one of their god's. Many crowd around me and start jibbering away with all sort's of nonsense that hold's no interest to me.*

Gorman: I'm looking for a gnome friend of mine, his name is Silver! Do any of you happen to know him?

*A young female gnome steps up waving her hand*

Camilla: Oh oh! I know him best! Pick me! Pick me!
Gorman: Ah! Young lady! May I have your name?
Camilla: My name's Camilla!
Gorman: May I speak with you on the surface? This crowd is making me terribly uncomfortable! *I yell to her over the many shrill voices who still cannot believe that an Archangel is in their presence*
Camilla: I would if I could GET there! *She yells back pushing her way through many other gnomes*
Gorman: Will you all please let Camilla through! I need to talk to her!

*Most of the gnomes leave grumbling a little, some saying how unfortunate that the Archangel is leaving already and some saying how Camilla seems to have all the fun. As Camilla and I exit the tunnels, we sit on a nearby boulder and talk about Silver. She tells me many things, how he recently visited and how touching their last conversation was. A thought strikes me and a broad smile crosses my face.*

Gorman: Dear Camilla, I must thank you for telling me your tale of your friend. However, I am trying to find the poor soul. He is being....difficult to say the least. I need him to accompany me to a friend that has the urgency to talk to him. If you would accompany me to find him, I would be MOST grateful!

*Camilla appears to consider this a moment before agreeing. Apparently I have found a better use for being an Archangel than I thought! I pick her up and set out towards the tavern where I last saw him. I inform Camilla that while at the tavern, several occupants had reported seeing the wandering gnome. I unsheath my sword in case of any tricks or surprises. When Camilla sees it she gasps but I reassure her that it's just for our protection. She smiles and gives me a knowing nod. I stay close to her and put a hand calmly, reassuringly onto her shoulder. She looks up at me and smiles. I smile too, for I know, that if Silver ever wants to see his loved one again, he shall listen....or forsake her*

Shadowcaster quickly glanced down at the stranger's shadow, then, as if he had been reminded of his own powers, threw his hands into the air and cast his shadow through the halls of the Order fort. He approached the now blind figure and saw a new face, a seemingly powerful mage that carried a weapon at his side. It struck him as strange to see such a mighty mage.

He limped quickly through the fort, stopping only to dispatch a few Order guards along the way. All the less to deal with later, he thought. At this breakneck speed, or so it seemed in his condition, Shadowcaster would tire out easily. He decided to stop and rest, and entered a large room that was covered in goo. He recognized the spam and bent down to taste some, gagging as he labelled it old spam. But there was more.

Another substance also lined the floor, walls and ceiling of this room, a dark, slippery slime that the shadow mage couldn't even hold for long before it slipped from his grasp. This was the opposite of spam that the Chaos party had been searching for, and this rendered new spam obsolete. He wondered how this had come to be.

How long had he really been out? So many new faces, a new type of spam, and this truce that now seemed to be dissolving. He had not been gone a short time, that was for sure. The shadow mage carefully cradled some dark spam in his hand and cautiously let it fall into his mouth. It tasted delicious, much better than new spam, and it was of the darkness too! Such a substance could benefit one as himself. He had to find it's maker.

Suddenly, a small, black creature awoke from the corner and looked warily over at Shadowcaster. The shadow mage began to approach it, but he did not get far before the creature lept to its feet and charged at him. Shadowcaster was in no condition to fight, and this creature could see, even in the dark. As his mind raced, Shadowcaster funbled to get out a dagger and slipped in the dark substance. He cursed as the spamling approached and pounced on top of him. The weakened shadow mage stood no chance, and his shadow was, unknown to him, strengthening the beast. He held it above him with all his might as he struggled to get his dagger ready to kill this creature.

Then, Shadowcaster watched in despair as the writhing creature knocked the knife from his hand and sent it flying just out of his reach. Now all he could do was defend. The shadow mage wouldn't hold out much longer. Then, an idea hit him.

He spotted some spam nearby and struggled to roll onto his side. The spamling would not allow it, and broke through the shadow mage's grip. Shadowcaster quickly dropped his shadow from the room, and the creature recoiled for an instant at the presence of the new light in the room just before he tore into Shadowcaster's throat. The shadow mage crawled to his dagger and stood, turning to face the spamling as it regained its composure. The spamling charged again.

"You're a single-minded little beast, aren't you?"

This time, the creature was much slower and Shadowcaster now had the advantage, time allowing him to dodge and trip up the weakened creature. The spamling slid into some spam and found itself stuck in the goop. Shadowcaster chuckled as he realized that Woock had unknowingly saved his life and approached the mired beast, running it straight through and spitting on the corpse that was now akin to the rest of the slick dark spam in the room.

Shadowcaster had, before this battle, thought he was nearly ready to jump back into the fray, but was now discouraged from that notion. He had almost been killed by a lowly servant creature, and he now knew he would need some help. Shadowcaster looked around him at the dark spam and smiled. He cast his shadow again and began to feast, stopping only when the room had been stripped clean of dark spam.

For the first time in a long time, Shadowcaster felt himself again. In fact, he felt better than ever. He glanced down at his wounds and removed the bandages that the archangel had adorned them with. He no longer needed those wrappings, he was free again. Now his plans could be fulfilled. Shadowcaster smiled maliciously as he set off to find his partner gnome, and if he was lucky, the creator of that which gave him strength would appear as well. Yes, this was a glorious day.
