I liked SoD campaigns the most because they are the easiest

Hmmm... Serious? I didn't play them much but I heard that they are the hardest, even more difficult than AB ones. As far as I remember, I have had big troubles beating the Yog campaign even on 80% (yes I was a n00b then and I'm still a n00b in this game). I think RoE is the easiest, only a few tricky moments, like that Kendell (solved easily 8)) and beating the demons down in the 4th campaign (also not too difficult). The last campaign is very interesting, btw

To KingofMinotaurs
SoD only adds several new artifacts, additional ground covers (like magic ground... i.e. 'carpets', hehe), and of course new campaigns and maps. And a few new hero portraits which are used in the campaigns.

Doesn't RoE have magic ground already such as magic plains, cursed ground, etc.?

That's what I mean... additional grounds like those that already exist in RoE.

There are quite a lot of changes in SOD.

First of all, the stats of some units have been changed (angels and archangels cost now gems too, lizardwarrior-stats have been upgraded and there were some more changes i donŽt remind in the moment....)

Second, there are some new grounds, like odvin mentioned. There are 4 differnet new grounds (earth, air, water, fire) which allow you to cast any spell of THAT magic type on EXPERT level (the magic plains in RoE allows to cast ALL spells of ALL magic types on expert level). Then there is a light green ground, which raises the luck of your hero. At last, there are clouds on the sea, which raise the movement points of your ship.

Third, and most impresiv imho, there are new artifacts, so called "combined artifacts). This means, if your hero carrys all artifacts, that will be needed to make that superartifact, he will gain more bonuses than the particular artifacts will give.
For example:

"cloak of the undead king"
For this superartifact, youŽll need the 3 necro-artifacts, that raise your necromancy-skill (the boots, the vampire-cloak and the amulet) If you wear them all, you can make the superartifact. The bonus will be great. If you have expert necromancy, now there will raise LICHS instead of skeletons from the dead units after battle!!

"wizardŽs well"
For this, youŽll need the 3 artifacts, which help you to regain manapoints per day (charm of mana, orb of mana, forget about the name of the third...). If you have them all in miscellanous and made the superartifact, your spellpoints will be on maximum on EVERY new turn!!

...and there are some more of these artifacts....
So Shadow of death is a MUST in my eyes....

AFAIK, all these changes are reflected in the 1.4 patch for RoE. At least when I played RoE 1.4, Archangels did cost gems also. So this is not too much of SoD's feature - 1.4 is the most popular RoE version today.
By the way, you online players who have SoD... In Russian version from Buka there is such a bug (?) - when a combined artifact or Armageddon's Blade appears on a random artifact's place in an RoE map, its look on the map is not what it actually should be... For example Armageddon's Blade looks like Pandora's Box... Is there such a bug in English SoD?

Normally, you can play AND finish nearly EVERY single scenario of the SoD campaigns on 200%....iŽm sure, that every veteran here agrees with me....

And, WoG requires SoD.

AB campaings are good. But I'd advise SoD ones.

Wow all of this sounds really great. I am amazed at how well they have made the expansion. It seems like SoD is the way to go.

It's pretty simple.
If u are gonna buy a homm edition .., GET HOMM COMPLETE!@
That's ROR, AB and SOD in one and it doens;t need any patches.

And if there is no store left that sells it try ebay or any other auction site (or email a member and ehh ask real nice).

Perhaps i donŽt get your point, but normaly, the heroes are the same like in RoE. There are some new heroes, which are playing a role in the history of the campaigns. Those you canŽt choose in the campaigns, they will be given automatically at the start of each scenario.
If you play a random map or a given scenario, you canŽt choose the new heroes (like Gelu or Dracon...).

The only way to get these heroes in a random map is, when you make a map in the editor and enable these heroes in the list. You still canŽt choose them as starting hero, but if youŽre lucky, youŽll see them in  a tavern or in a jail....

Angelito you are wrong you CAN choose them as your starting hero if you enable them in map specifications
