I don't think there's anything at all to the thought that "only the good die young".
When the "good" die young, they are lamented, and their loss is spoken of as a great tragedy. So it's brought to our attention in the news, and through word of mouth.
When the "bad" die young, their deaths often go unnoticed, and they are not spoken of.
So its not a matter of who dies when, but a matter of someone deciding who is good and who is bad - and then choosing for us whose life is important enough to remember.
