Ashrah learn to make a difference between spiritual stories and childish stories.

Just as you make a difference between the actual 'words' from a company when it sells a product and the truth about the product. Yes they usually lie if they can and manipulate the press if they have enough money. You wouldn't tell me you believed them each time right? that would be naive.

there is no difference

No, and it's not a joke.

You're missing out.

and yea how did she get this movie?

Quote:
Why is it a sin?

It's written in the Bible and the Coran and Yes I believe in "old dusty books".

So it says in a book that gay is a sin so you're like 'RIGHT OK SO GAYS A SIN'
...?

edit:
and that if you allow one you allow them all is ridiculous.

if one person that i hate really wants to go jump off a cliff, then go ahead. but if EVERY PERSON IN THE WORLD does it, then NO its not ok!
and if one babe wants to have sex with me, then fine, but if every single person in the world, then no!!

we're not in danger of every person turning gay. it's a psychological trait.
theres the same amount of gays around today as there was 2000 years ago, just now they can be more open with more laws etc.

and if it were a hereditary trait then you don't have to worry about the gene going far, now do you?

This has been brought up many times in this thread before, but I'll say it again... Where exactly in the bible does it say that gayness is a sin? And do you believe every single thing in the bible? Isn't that just the slightest tad naive?

See? Do you now admit that we were right?

Spectrum I wasn't talking only about the Bible but also about the Coran (which I know best).
In the Coran it is clearly said that homosexuality is a sin.
Let me sum up the story for you.

There was a village were everybody was homosexual (bisexual when there was needs of reproduction), except one called Lut along with his family.
So God called upon him to reason with the tribesmen to ambandon this madness. Lut tried for 10 years but it was all in vain.
So God told him to leave the village at dawn and not to wacth behind them.
He and his family left....the sky turned black, there was a rain of fire that purged the entire village.
However God knew that Lut's wife was actually a homosexual so He made her look and what she saw made her turn into ashes.
It concludes: "they recieved a rain of fire, look at the punishment of these criminals."

So naturally, being a Muslim, I believe every single word in the Coran because it was written by a prophet who recieved the words of God.

Oh sorry. I thought you mentioned the bible somewhere

Anyways, I'm not anyone to say anything about the Coran, since I know nothing about it. Still, don't you think it's possible that some stories got exaggerated a bit over the years?

I know the bible did, and I admit it, although I am Christian.

The main thing in religion is not to believe what it says in the book but to believe in your God, right?

You see, it's very possible that somebody took the liberty of making the stories and words of Mohammed (or other prophets in your religion) a bit more... impressive. You know, to make you fear and respect your God even more.

I'm not trying to insult the Coran, I hope you see my point

No offense taken.
I see your point, I too have doubted but u see it is forbidden to alter a single word in the Coran.
And yes one should believe in God not the books but the books are a ..support to help you understand more.

Hm...Oh well. Who am I to question a whole religion?
You believe as you have to.

One more thing though...does the Coran say that it is forbidden for muslims to be homosexual or for...anybody? Because I don't think that if the Coran says that it's not allowed, non-islamic people would have to obey it...just seems silly.

In Islam, homosexuality is forbidden to all people.
I get your point thought but Islam is a religion that is aimed to all humans since it doesn't only tell you to believe in God but gives a sort of wisdom.
Don't get me wrong, Islam was never made to be imposed on everybody and does not seek to replace Christianity or Judaism.
In fact, despite some minor differences, Islam encourages both religions and have a lot in common.

If u want to learn more u can read the Coran. (I am not telling u to believe in it just read if you have time)

Meh could be interesting to read it

Anyhow. Does the Coran provide any explanation as for why it's such a bad thing, gayness. I mean, I would never want to have sex with another man, but if other people like it, then, I don't really mind. It's their business. Their personal preferition.

no, seriously, it was originally written as a record of what people percived at that time. of course, stuff gets edited when it is told, word from mouth, but if you look closely, it could all have happened.

"turned water into wine" one of the ingredients of wine back then was water.

"walking on water" this could be interpretied as swimming.

Are you suggesting that people back then didn't know how to swim? Because otherwise it wouldn't really be a miracle.
"And then Jesus went swimming" See? Not as impressive at all...

no, thats not what i'm saying.

have you ever played chinese whispers? you whisper something so someone, only once, they pass it on to someone else, and someone else, all whispering, saying it only once. soon you end up with something completely different. "man without fear" can become "spam in and out of here" and "i love you" could change to "guy above moo"

of course, i'm not suggesting that people play chinese whispers in order to get stories told, but it changes as people go along telling and re-telling the story

my gods, Ashrah, you really are an idiot!

mohammad never said that, but its peoples interpretation of it. in fact, Mohammad was a peace loving man, a medience man, who healed everyone, be they rich, poor, male, female, old, young, obese, anerixic, gay, lesiban, straight, alcholic, chain-smoking or whatever. he would help people in times of trouble, and opposed wars. he is the same as jesus in the message that he preaches.

and like jesus, some people have used that message to discriminate and perscue minorities.

Penalty applied for direct insult.

I thought I made it very clear that you should only post on topic, and stop this insulting banter.  I understand that topics may overlap, but I really would like to be able to know which thread I'm reading from it's content rather than having to scroll up to the title.

Ashrah, watch what you say too please, alot of you are pushing the boundaries here.  The same old argument is getting a bit old too, maybe you can find something else to talk about somewhere else in here

listen, Ashrah. who helps people in time of need, who gives most of their money to the poor, who is fighting at this very moment to stop wars and protect the vulnerable.

religion

ok, may be not a few people, but alot of people who are religious are trying to do some good in the world. alot of them are good, kind people who do all they can to help people in distress.

before you continue this "Crusade" any longer, get out, see the world. experience the suffering that people have to go through, and look at people who help them. 4/10 organisations who help people have religious standing. these are people who understand the religious texts' message

"help your fellow human being, whatever they may be"

It is amazing how you can make a massacre ok by reading a few quotes from the bible or the coran. stuff like this goes on every day, people die in the name of religion and atheism.

but more importantly, we can stop this from happening, we can stop lives being lost if we leave out the true meaning of our creed.

btw Ashrah, atheism was created to counteract the religious conviction that people were facing. and now people here are facing the same conviction from person who believes in nothing.
