Isildur: Excellent, shopkeep i will take your long sword.
Shopkeep: Ah, glad your friends agreed.
Isildur: I must go now but i wil come to visit often.
With that Isildur left the smithy to track down his friends. He read Maximus' warning about the strange man but he had to return there to try and follow is companions tracks.

As Isildur passes through, he attracts the attention of cannibalistic Gibberlings. Although he never encounters them directly, they can smell some of the Gibberling's blood on him. The group of cannibals track Isildur through the scent of blood.

OOC: You need to create your character before you start in this thread. Also, Isildur is Dragon Slayer's character. Only he controls his character. Since I run the thread, I can also control all non-character beings.

Being the cautious type Isildur frequently puts his ear to the ground to listen for people following him. Isildur had just finished eating some bread and put his ear to the ground. He can hear a slight noise at a distance.
Isildur: It seems to be 4.. No 5 small creatures about 2 minutes behind me.
Unfortunatly Gibberlings have amazing sense of smell. They could sense that isildur had stopped for rest and began to run faster.
Isildur: Oh no, their pace quickens. I must hurry and meet my companions.

As Vadskye stood with his companions awaiting Isildur's return, he suddenly saw Isildur hurrying over the hill.
Vadskye: "Why are you going so fast? We don't miss you that much."
Isildur: "Har har. There are some gibberlings behind me (the gibberlings appear on the hill behind him) and I didn't feel confortable fighting them alone. Should be get rid of these pests?"
Mordikai: "Let's get 'em!"
Vadskye: "Let's go!"
OOC: RSF3, could you do the auto combat?

Maximus: Originally we heard of a mage in this forest. We haven't found any trace of this. Perhaps it was just a rumor.
I think we should head north to the origin of the river at Glade Falls. My brother, Mal, used to go there. He said it was the hub of the valley when it comes to adventuring. He said that you'd even find work there during the plague. All adventurers go there when they need to find work, or if they need high quality equipment. This is where we can acquire magical equipment. But if we go, be sure to not piss anyone off. Most of these people are dangerous. Some of them will try to kill you if you do nothing but look at them funny. Sephiroth, this means you need to keep your mouth shut. If you don't, it could cost our lives. I'm gonna keep mine shut for the most part too. There are lots of people just like that Smithy back there. You say one thing to them and they try to kill you. But just remember that this place is rich. We can earn a lot of money for the simplest of jobs.

"Don't worry about him, Sephiroth." Mordikai whispered to his friend. "I'll help you fight off anyone if you give them a funny look. We should be able to take anyone down if we work together." The cocky ranger had no idea where they were going, but he tried to sound confident, nonetheless, because to him, confidence earned money in any situation, if you knew where to look.

The party sets out for Glade Falls. The hike is slow going. Unfortunately, they have run into several bogs and have had to take several detours around. Fortunately, there hasn't been any encounters of enemies as of yet. After traveling for nearly two days straight without good rest, they reach a beautiful plain with a small village at it's center. The grass is dancing in the wind. Exhausted and hungry, they decide to rest.
Maximus: Never seen this place before. It sure looks nice.
As they get closer to the village, they walk by a cottage with a halfling standing outside smoking a pipe. RSF decides to approach the man to get some information.
Maximus: What is the name of this town?
Halfling: A bit small for a town, huh? Laughs and slaps his knee a couple times. You are in Whispering Meadow. It's a real eye sore isn't it? Laughs and chuckles again. My name is Garoule. What is yours?
Maximus introduces himself. Garoule stares silently for a second or two. Finally, Vadskye introduces himself and the rest of the party.
Vadskye: This is a nice place. But I don't see too many farms. How do you get your food? What is it you do here?
Garoule: Many of the people here work in the Crystal Mines just north of here. It sells really good. We get over half of our goods shipped in by merchants, which makes this place a rich little village. We also have one of the nicest Tavern/Inn's you'll find in the entire valley. Hops Pub be the name. It's not big, but it's a great place to have a pint and the rooms are affordable and very luxurious. The only bad thing is the the bartender can be really cranky every once in a while. Other than that, you'll love it. Just tell the bartender that Garoule sent ya and he'll treat ya good even if he has a hair across his ass. Chuckles again. He nods his head and offers us good luck on our travels.

On the way to the Tavern...
Maximus: You've been pretty quiet lately. I didn't want you to go completely silent. Besides this is a friendly town. I just didn't want you to pull out your weapons and stuff so quickly as what happened with that Smithy back in the woods. That won't work well when we get to Glade Falls. I'm going to let Mordikai, Vadskye, and Isildur put on the charm when we get there anyway. That's all I meant. Just let the more charismatic do more of the talking.
Sephiroth: Nods his head.
Maximus: Laughs. Very funny, Sephiroth.
OOC: Is my character being too charismatic here? I only have 11 charm. And should Sephiroth make a joke with only 8 charm?

Mordikai: Yeah, I can do the swindl--I mean, put on the charm. Let's just hope these people are as inattentive as that guy in the woods.
He held up a sizable ruby.
Maximus: You stole that from him? Why? Grrr...well, I would say that that you have to return it, but I don't want that guy to come after us. Let's just hope that he never notices, or he'll be on the lookout for us.
Mordikai: Relax, I put a fake one in its place. What we need to hope for is that he doesn't ever find out its fake. Then we're in trouble.
Mordikai began to put the ruby away.
Maximus (snatching the ruby): I'll take that. It's the party's now.
He ignored Mordikai's glare as they walked on.

Although Isildur was at the back of the group and wasnt paying much attention, he over heard the hobbit saying "crystal mines" and "Over half the income is from them". Once the little hobbit walks off Isildur talks to his companions about an idea.
Isildur: Me thinks we should visit this crystal mine before we head off. We could make a uhhh... profit.
Seriously! most of us have little to no money! What were you planning on paying our new magical weapons with, hopes and dreams??? I think we should stay at the inn. Once nightfall comes the more stealthy members of our party go out to the mine. The others stay back as scouts. I propose myself, Mordikai go to the mines as we are rangers. We are nimble, can find our way in the dark and can defend ourselves well. Erion and Maximus, you are elves and have excellent eye sight and speed. You two act as scouts. Sephiroth you are a stout strong dwarf. You come with Mordikai and i and guard the entrance to the mines. After that we leave the village much richer and nobody will ever know! So, any objections?

The five adventurers agreed to Isildur's plan, although with some convincing to Maximus. Because they were so short on cash, Maximus agreed to at least check out the mines. He agreed to be a lookout and warn the party, but refused to fight had they been caught. After being told that he would get no share of the crystal, he agreed to fight, because they were going to do it anyway, so he may as well enjoy the rewards.
After a day's rest at Hops Pub, they pay their tab and slip out unnoticed to rob the mines. No enemies are to be found. They reach the mines and find it to be quite small. It seems that the mines were designed to be mined by only halflings. The party stands there wondering what action to take next.
A voice comes from behind the party.
"You didn't think we were really THIS stupid, did you? Everyone who comes through here tries to rob the crystal mines. You think you're the first ones to think of that?"
The party is startled and turns around to see a halfling thief standing directly behind them.
Maximus: "You're not here to insult us. Get on with it and tell us why you're here."
The Halfling: "I would be willing to assist you in getting some of this crystal you so desire. However, I would want you to do something for me. I have a spider problem and I'm just one person, plus I'd get poisoned. I need you to go ahead and kill a giant spider for me. It's in my house. I'll have some crystal when you return. Oh and bring the body as proof that you killed it. I can give you an antidote for 40 gold to help you. If you don't use it I can take it back for the same price."
