Formulas

Ok, I read several contradicting statements on this, so I want to ask the experts around:

1) Another secondary skill is increasing the effectiveness of the artillery skill. Few days ago somewhere I read, it'd be the offense skill. But I'd consider the archery skill a top candidate for it, since this skill improves ranged attacks which a shoot by a catapult definately is.
So what is the formula for the artillery skill?

2) Heroes' specials improve secondary skills or creatures' values. Good to know! But does anyone have the exact formulas, how skills and creatures are improved over the time? Concerning creatures I read a lot of bullsnow like second level creatures' attack and defence rating would be improved +1 every second experience level. I wonder, why my skellies just improve +3 when recruited by a lvl 20 Galthran, though. And to be honest, a 100% improvement of destructive spells like implosion due to a well levelled 'sorcery-heroe' has been never observed by myself.

Thanks for clarifying.

Balista is like a Creature with 250 health.
It's attack is [Basic_attack] + [Heroe's attack primary skill]

And damage is multiplied by heroes attack primary skill.

Thanks for replying, pig.
An (at least to me) open question about damage calculation of a ballista-attack persists: Does the offence-skill or the archery-skill increase the damage on an enemy stack?
I'd put my bet on the latter, but I've read the contrary too often.

Not exactly. It's multiplied in H4; in H3, it's +5% of damage per each point of attack exceeding the enemy's defense.

As for the specialist's formulas: I had them somewhere... some long time ago... but AFAIR you can calculate the overall percentage for a skill using my Heroic Calculator.

Do you have ported it to Linux in the meantime?

No. You really need it? Get yourself Wine - I'm almost 100% sure such a program will have no problems under Wine.
I'm still a total n00b in C++... So don't wait for any ports to Linux yet!
