This is taken from the CoC. I have no problem with a bit of spam once in a while but when people go and advertise it with various Games in the Tavern, sigs or statuses it seems a bit excessive. A members sig was once "TODAYS SPAM IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY ...." in bold letters. What kind of example does this set for newer members? I know that this has been discussed in Stivens Spam thread but we never raised the issue of "advertising" spam.

Look Stiven any judgement call can lead to favoritism. Bad mods lead to more favoritism than the system, and I think that the moderators including myself are some of the fairest people in HC, so I don't that there will be problems. One of the main reasons all of us were chosen by Val is the ability to remain neutral and to be fair.

Then why is for example tossdeal getting warnings for stuff that few others gets for?
Id say its up to you mods to work out a concept for this "word police" thingy. Because as long as you dont discussions like the "boring" one here now will appear.
So to save you the trouble to have this discussion another time it might be for the better to put up a set standard.
On a side note for the favoritsm thingy, in my what.. 3 years here im yet to see a QP given out for good arguments/reasoning if the person isnt on the moderators side of the issue.
Worth thinking about.

I'd still like an explanation as to why DTT is in the Wastelands. It's a great thread! I'm sure some ppl might have things they don't like about it but some other ppl happen to enjoy it. If there is any reason as to why it was put there I'd like to know. Thanks

Well Sox looks like you have some explaining to do  ?
For yrs when I been here, Mods fought tossers left & right & banned alot of them also but we were able to have our own TT?
Now the spammers wanted thier own boards to conversate where they are welcomed & you take it away from them.
WHY?
So it has nothing but spam in it, WHat do you think the tavern is for in that thread?
If there can be a TT then why cant there be a Spammers tavern as well for them?
This thread is for fun right?
What are you doing to this place man?

No...he's explained and I can see why. I'm sorry if I may have overreacted RSF...but Dingo's little note could probably get anyone who posts in that thread upset. If we can make some type of improvement to the thread....could you mod's possibly move it out of VW?
Or could ya even do it now just to spite Dingo? j/k

If the thread improves then by all means it could definitely move back. My issue was that I saw many posts that looked like things in the Wastelands. I simply couldn't comprehend the meaning of numerous posts. That and the fact that the view to replies was so low. So it wasn't being read either. That's what I'm trying to say. If people start reading it and it improves than bring it back.
I just think that a line must be drawn somewhere.

to RealDeal re: Dingo's signature - i think at Heroes Community we are dealing with a lot of fantasy, and in fantasy there are often gods and dieties without it being any intended blasphemy against the Christian God.
to DDTers : i think there's an understanding now? If not lets keep discussing it.
the boring issue: The whole issue here was not in the wording, but in Redsox's belief that a direct insult was made at another member. because Dingo was insulted and reacted, Redsox issued a warning.
I do understand the point people have been making that Dingo's comments can also be insulting too. Redsox giving RealDeal a warning was not a show of favortism but a response to a member's complaint that they had been insulted.
to Oldtimer: I'll deal with you later
to Stefan: thats an excellent point about QP's not being awarded for arguements that oppose the moderators opinions. One problem I have with this thread so far is that there has been a lot of spam, and a lot of garbled whining but not enough clear arguements or opinions. It would be much easier to address and deal with member's concerns if they were clear enough that I fully understood a) what the problem is and b) what solution they would like to see. On my part i will certainly look to those posts as being QP worthy as they appear - it would be a great help to the community if they did.

For Yrs deserved QP were never given over favortism but when someone quite popular makes thier 5th post about somethang similar, they are rewarded in haste .

When i "insulted" Dingo, he wrote "direct insult! -qp!" Hmm, yeah, that boy was hurt. And he posted that the DTT FINALLY got into the VW. Well that's the same as calling it boring, but nothing happens to him? I'm confused, because that was a direct insult to everyone who posts there. And i agree, why can there be a TT? They insult eachother all the time, but with sarcasm which makes it more laughable, in DTT we just do it in other ways, example: the rap thingie, Ruby posting as ghetto queen, i call myself the waf3x master, all things that we know isn't really true but we can get a nice kick out of it.
(This wasn't to attack any TT'ers, i just thought that it was a good point made)

problem: No set directions of what should be concidered insults and not when it comes to words such as boring, n00b etc.
solution: Get together the mod squad and work out an incommon agenda how to treat these things. IMO there is no need for a word police. One should look at the nature of the post instead of particular discussable words in it.
problem: favoritism
solution: first moderators needs to acknowledge its there. Then they need to look at the reasoning and arguements in the post rather than if they agree with the conclusion or not.
problem: commercial for other threads/boards.
solution: if the sole purpose is to promote another thread it is not ontopic and should be treated as gibberish or spam... a CoC violation.
problem: DDT
solution: I think RSF was right on cue, the thread isnt interesting to most members and wont be as long as the material in it stays that way. Im quality improves let them back to tavern.
problem: SPAM
solution: Still needs harsher treatment and some set examples IMO. Moving DTT to VW was a step in the right direction, please try and follow that up by restraining individual spam posts in different threads aswell. Not the occational ones, but the systematic ones which seems to be put in by some members.
these are just my opinions, but IMO all of these matters still needs to be adressed.

Okay Sir_Stiven.
Problem: Word Police.
Solution: There is no problem. For the billionth time. I will again say that there is no word police and that people are not being punished for words such as boring, n00b, etc. It was a whim as a solution a couple months ago. WOW this is getting annoying. I only once proposed the idea and it was obviously rejected. What matters is the insult, not which words you use to do it. Okay anyways, can we all stop crying about the word police, because it's not gonna happen.
Problem: Favoritism
Solution: I already gave Dingo a warning for that or Pandora did, since she moderates Wastelands. Basically I talked with Pandora and she explained why it may look like I am playing favorites, however I don't believe I am and I explained why. First of all can we go back to where there were attacks on the people of the Down Town Tavern. I defended them and issued warnings. When Celfius was upset about you insulting him in some thread. I gave a quick warning to you. However I had left for a couple days and came back to read all this nonsense about favoritism because I didn't give Celfius a warning. The point is I am usually quick to give a warning and am seldom to give penalties. So I wouldn't be complaining about favoritism.
Problem: Commercials
I disagree with this being a problem somewhat. Although I think excessive commercials is a bad thing however I don't think that telling people of other good threads is in anyway a bad thing. If anything it will be getting the recognition it deserves.
Solution: Have an up to date Table of Contents. No need to advertize anything if all the good ones are right there in one thread.
Problem: DTT

Solution: If you feel the need to get specific about not liking how a member posts. Then by all means, you may do so. Just explain why. I hear you say systematic, then you should be able to point out these posts.

Actually I wasn't hurt, I just pointed out that you were violating the CoC.
