Should Gods exist in Heroes4

In another topic I had a small missunderstanding with Mystery, so I decided to post a separate topic (look Egypt).
The question is: should god-like creatures exist in homm4? I think yes. I'd like to have more creatures and more powerful units.
Creatures like Amon Ra (Sun God, look Egypt topic) or Zeus would be fun to play. I would be a shame not to see these kind of units in homm4 just because they are to powerful and just because they are gods. Titans, Archangels, Archdevils, they are all god-like creatures. Should they be removed, of course NO!!!
I would like to hear everybody's else opinion.

well that line was offencive....

it is offencive for you to say "we all believe only one GOD exists" because we don't... i'm bhuddist, i have pagan friends, but back on topic...

HELL YEAH!!!! make the actual gods the heroes, (because that is what gods are right? the realy powerful heroes?) they shouldn't start any better than other heros, just have a hero named nubis, n such, and have creatures that resemble the gods also, like the titans did,

U misunderstand.

I think u misunderstand, Razor_X says that gods should be allowed because titans and archangels/devils are, well think about it, even that titans were godly creatures, there were many of them, but u cant make a Sun god or Zeus as a unit because in the Egyptian mythology there was only one Sun god, and in the Greek mythology there was only one Zeus. Got it?

i say no gods

I like the idea of god like creatures, but no give them names like zeus. Cause it would seem gay to have a stack of 20 zeuses. see even the plural of zeus looks gay. i never liked the title of devils too, call them something else like greater demons. well thats my opinion, i would be fine with gods, if it was only possible to have only one of god creature in each game. Plus i think there should be more strict rulez around them. Like having no way 2 gods of different alignments could fight for the same hero.

Well, the Zeus or Amon Ra was just an example of god like creatures. I did not say that they should be called like that. We could try to diferenciate more these units.
How about this, having one superior god like unit per castle, which requires different things to do (not just built their temple and...here they are).
This can be solved in this way: finding pieces of special artifact, which together form a symbol which opens the gate to god. Of course this idea only applies if god like creatures are very special and unique.
Wacha think.....

they are already in the game

I posted a similar comment on another thread about gods in the game.  Archangels, archdevils, titans are all considered gods already and even most ancient dragons are considered as such so that would cover the rust, fairy, azure and crystal drags.  The stature of Titans is that they have and do fight with the god in numerous mythical legends.  Archangels and devils even in today's society are still coveted as gods.  so to say that they are not there already is very short sighted

weird

but if this is the case, then you are equating archangels or archdevils to gods then i find it amusing that a hero can kill a god-like being with a lightning bolt.

My personal opinion as an avid role player is that these creatures of the highest order should be equated to personal minions of some greater beings. If there are gods surely there should only be 1 such being and if he is dead, he is gone.

I think gods should be left out of homm4, altogether.

Firstly, the focus should be on the heroes, hero development and town development rather than racing to see whether we can get a god to manifest himself.

Secondly, how are you going to bring a god into the game without totally throwing the game out of balance or retaining the features which make heroes such a hit

Think about the logic, Mystery

Whoa Whoa Whoa! In Greek Mythology there were only like 20 Titans, and I have had and fought much more than 20 Titans. Think about it. By the way, it's just a game. They can bend the rules. Just a thought Mystery.

Hello guys...
I think u missunderstood me. I was not saying that there should exist 20 Zeus units (just an example). But for one caslte should exist one superior unit, god, or something similar. I explained in my last post how this god unit should be gained, and there should be only one. I'm not saying that 3do should focus only in these gods, but it could be fun to have pieces of superior artifacts, or some sort of structure (like obelisks, and when you visit some of then the gate opens), or collecting pieces to form the symbol of proper god.
I say again, not a stack of 20,25,30 gods, but only one god per castle.
And gravgragon is right, there was a war between gods and titans. Among the titans there was a powerful creature called Kraken (very big creature, with six hands, an underwater creature). As I read Medusa is a titan too.
Anyway I think that the idea of one superion god like unit is cool....

Got an idea!

I think I've thought about something about gods, instead of making them special units, they could be special heroes that would be only in campaigns or could be bought only with a special building or artifact, as we know, there is a chance that heroes could fight during a battle in HOMM4, so the gods could be heroes with very big damage and powerful abilities, also there could be a special artifact that with it, a god (each god has its artifact) could appear randomly in the battle and cast a powerful spell or attack an enemy stack. What do u think?

Oh, I forgot....

I forgot to mention another idea:
In order to have a god in the army a player should build temples for the god in 5 castles and that would make the god available, then he would have to sacrifice units in the temples once in a while in order to please the god, the gods satisfaction would be measured by % in each hero, and special artifacts could raise the god's satisfaction with the hero that has the artifact, the more the god is satisfied with a hero, the more he will help him in ways like: giving resources, making armies join the hero, casting a spell in battle, attacking the enemy in battle, resurrecting the player's troops and more...
What do u think?

how about just a chance "gods" could help?

this reminds me of my old D&D days, but how aboutif U built a temple to the god of your castle (assuming one god for each castle type) that he could intervene in a fight and assist, mebe not an actual figure but example (Zeus kills 50% of opponents archangels, or say protects your side from spells, small say 10-15% chance) mebe much like resistance, and then is this whereevery your hero is or mebe just on castle attacks. just a thought

Gods shouldn't fight

Gods are supposed to be immortal and "all powerful" aren't they? So, if you had a god in your garrison, you would win instantly. I think that the God should stay at the temple/place of worship. He could give you a "gift" of attack power or more of a resource if you sacrificed something to him.

Example: One day, you give the God at a Conflux a sacrafice of 3 Magic Elementals. The next day, you find yourself blessed with 10 crystal, when you don't have a crystal mine.

It is just a thought.

oh boy we are really reachin here folks instead of might and magic we need to call the game god and godless. give me a break..  And then next step you all will say fashion it like Age Of Empires or D&D.. or have it on a distant planet of kucamunga.  Some ideas have there place, and this is not one of them.  If gods are actually going to be added in this fashion then the superior one must be in it and then how you do manage to gain his favor. or do any of you really know?

A heroes speciality is a turn based game, so why changing the "horse" that wins the game. This one goes to kreszantas the pesimist (no offence pls.). This is not a topic to lead heroes 4 to copy another game. Far from that. We have some nice ideas here... so why loosing them, or simply letting them go away... why not develope them further... I'm sure we can come up with something.

And back to topic then...
I really like some of the ideas here. Zud and Mystery came up with good idea.
So the gods satisfaction that is measured in percentage, actually is the posibility of god to assist in battle, or in week changes. But the point is: what if the god in not satisfied with you (should he start singing...I can get no satisfaction...just joking). Negative effects of gods shouldn't be present if god is not satisfied.
For the moment I dont like the idea of gods existing like heroes, unless we diferenciate more. I think it could be too complicated.

my thoughts on additions of gods

I too think that gods should not just be hired willy-nilly from any old tavern or temple. I for one would see no point in developing my hero if i know i can hire a god later, and if there were no development of heroes, half the fun of heroes is gone.

I would rather no gods be added to the game though. Looking back at the M&M series and HOMM series i dont recall any mention of Gods, just lots of legendary people, like sir kilburn and sandro, and things have still run smoothly so far.

If we were to add gods, i would hope they would be just onlookers, preferring not to interfere much with the affairs of mortal men. Just imagine I were playing against another player and suddenly in week 2, he gets some advantage bestowed upon him by a god.

Most TOH players would already we would be complaining at such things as serpent fly population doubles or +5 to bone dragon growth when their opponents are playing the respective towns and thats not really fun is it?

I don't mind the assistance of gods in HOMM4, but would prefer the assistance of Gods to be kept to the minimum. Who knows, maybe thats where all those serpent flies and bone dragons are coming from.

Structures/shrines/altars to Gods are another matter...I think this would still keep in the direction for the homm series, at the same time add to the flavour which some of you like. and there could be area for further development here. Maybe they could provide an additional spell unique to that town type, or boost a secondary skill by another 5% like that necromancy amplifier.... the ideas are only bounded by imagination, and as long as the structures show no bias, most of us would not complain. (Remember the limits to the mage guild in stronghord and fortress.)

Nice

Not bad at all. Some legendary creatures would be welcome me thinks. Would these creatures be unique? Like only one Zeus could exist at a time. I think that this could be an excellent add to homm series. Like more quests and tasks could be added if these "gods" would be in play. Also new thrills and adventures, yes?

BACK THE TRUCK UP!!!!!!!!!

to me, Sandro is a god, he so as far as i'm concerned GODS ARE ALREADY IN THE GAME, do you guys know how gods are born? they kill every one who says they are not a god, if they live long enough to succeed, than they become gods, or "the one who killed every one else and rewrote the history books to say he did it with a lightning bolt instead of a 100 arch devils... ooops i mean angels... right I USED ANGELS!!! LOTS OF THEM, BECAUSE I'M A GOD NOW HAHAHAHAHA"   "history is writen by the victor" and heroes is about gaining power, becoming a god, not already haveing power, and being a god,
um... again, Sandro and Isra are in the game, so gods are in the game!!!!!!!!!!!

HEROES THAT SUCCEED ARE GODS!!!!!

P.S. doesn't Sandro kick @$$ he has been down with necro since day one in heroes, fighting with the worlocks because necroes weren't in that game,
