U.S.A.?
Hey Everyone,
This here is a message board to post what you really think about the USA.
Let me start by saying that... THE WORLD DOESN'T REVOLVE AROUND YOU! The American empire is bound to fall sooner or later. It has happened to the greatest empires in the world, the Roman, the Egyptian, the Chinese, the Huns, the Alexandrian, the Babylonian. The list goes on and on and on.
Another thing. You guys think your so macho, well think again. Half of all of American marriges end in divorce, and 75% of the remaining marriges are unhappy ones. Plus more then half of your population doesn't even have their high school diploma, and thats excluding the Southern States, which brings up a whole different story.
You know nothing about other countries. For all you know, Canada could have a secret army that is ready to invade your country. I bet you couldn't tell me the capital of Canada, or the national bird, or the currency, or what our national plant is without looking it up on the internet.

For your information I don't watch Jerry Springer. And what does it matter if I am a Canadian. I am who I am. I dislike those who brag about themselves, and Americans just seemed to be the biggest braggers in the world. There are people bigger then you.

You're generalising, which is never a good thing. Not all Americans are like that, just like not all Japanese are hard working, not all French are romantic and not all Russians are drunkies. In many cases those stereotypes are only true with a small part of the people in question and offends the others. That's because people should avoid doing what you did a lot in that post.
Also, PH is British and I am Polish. You're not opposing a purely youesayan group here.

A very good quote I heard from Val, "73.2% of all statistics are bad up on the spot." I bet you made up those facts, if you didn't give me some proof.

Well I dislike people who think they can judge every last American based on their ignorant, biased view. I've not met many americans, 5 to my knowledge in person, and many online. And whilst it's true many are arrogant, and many are even ignorant of other cultures and people, the same can be said of British people, or French people. I'm willing to bet the vast majority of people in my country couldn't name all 50 US states, does that make the British stupid too?
Please, if you're going to insult the yanks, at least do it in a proper, inventive and amusing fashion, you give us "midly anti-yankee" types a bad name

Theres a thread similar like this one, "Is america stupid".
Read that one and then decide to post smth.
Anyway if you don't like USA, don't blame the people, blame their leaders.
btw, I bet you watched that Michael Moor film when Americans wanted to invade Canada (dont remember the title).
It's a great movie, and "Bowling for Columbine" too. I love this American guy. And the scene he did at the Oscar ceremony. Hail Michael!!!

I had the same problem a long time ago, but I understood one thing: it is not a country's fault for the mistakes their leaders make - witch, in this case, are A LOT. I do not like where America's expansionist politics is going either, but that does not mean I must take it on the american people. They are just like anybody else.
So, I belive that you start your point from the worst point of view ever. It's a child's thought, more likely. Terence and Filip would say it better...

I'm an American, and I think that the people are corrupt and stupid, but the main problem is the president. The average American person would rather make money and sue the pants of people, but the president is the one causing the major problems. Declaring war on a phantom enemy with no evidence for the war, pouring billions per month and hundreds of lives into trying to "liberate" Iraq, preventing our allies from helping us and then trying to pass off our problems onto them, it's just dumb! What is Bush thinking?

About 90% of the stuff you just rattled off is a bunch of lies. Bush declared war on Iraq to get some hands on cheap oil so the already high price for oil based products might go down and to, I don't know, help out the innocent civilians that Saddam had been executing for no good reason on a daily basis. He didn't prevent the allies from helping. Most of them were against the war. They didn't want to help. He asked them to, but they denied him. And, no, he isn't passing off his problems to the allies. He recently denied a few countries from helping out in the reconstruction of Iraq. He signed a bill to put 80 billion dollars in tax dollars to help the poor souls over there. Bush is a doing a pretty friggin' good job. I'd like to see some of his critics get up in the pilot seat and do a better job. The only reason people are against Bush is because it's "cool" to hate the authority. People weren't happy with Clinton, Bush, Reagan, Carter, or any other president. We voted for him, so let's let him do his job.

History will repeat itself, and yes, the USA will someday fall. However, right now the world does revolve around the USA, and the world will continue to revolve around the USA even after you are dead...so you might as well get used to the status quo. Quote:

The USA never claimed to be the pillar of morality (although our President may beg to differ with me on that issue), but the USA has obviously assumed or has been given the role of "the world's police force." As you mentioned, the USA does not have the best record for high school education and post-secondary schooling, but that doesn't matter, cause the USA has Hollywood and Las Vegas to make up for its shortcomings.
