Apparently, I did something ignorantly. I followed your directions and the directions from the read me file in the objects package, combined. After a little trial and error, I got it to work! I dragged the new adventure objects from the new adventure objects map into the object palette, and after I dragged them in, I dragged them back onto the map I got them from, saved the map, and they appear in the once empty New Adventure Objects option. Great!! The maps have to stay in the maps folder though, you can't delete them, or you lose all that work you did to put them in the palette. No biggie.
Interestingly, now the Hidden objects, all of them, appear as well!
Sadly, the modded objects still crashes the editor. Evidently, I'm still missing something there. But you can recall either of the Map Editors (original & c_e_Mod) to continue a project. So, that's good news!
As a bonus to all this, I have put objects from one of my Empire maps into the Equilibrus palettes also! There are some original Equilibrus objects that are not in this package. For instance, the bridge inclines for crossing large rivers and such. And other bridge parts. I'm sure there will be other things I can find to put in too from my older equilibrus maps.
I will put together a package of stuff from the original Equilibrus for anyone who would want these objects in their add ons sometime in the near future. Or you can get them and put them in as one sees fit.

The AOP is truly the key. You're right. It needs to be removed and you can take off on the Map Editors and do whatever you want with the add ons to make your own AOP.

Glad to hear you got it working!

As far as Equilibris objects that aren't in the object package (or anything else for that matter), I think Karmakeld would definitely want to get those added. So if you're putting those additional objects together, we would definitely appreciate it if you posted them somewhere!

As far as the modded objects, what specifically are you trying to do? I just loaded up the object package (no aop or anything, just the objects themselves in the h4r file renamed to new.h4r for vanilla), and I added several to the palette via Tools->Customize->Object Palettes, select the palette, and then select the objects from the list.

I didn't try running the game, but I did save the maps with the objects both in the palette and on the map, and was able to reopen the map after closing it.

Okay then. With the Modded Objects, I'll Keep that in Mind. Thank you for clearifying that up for me.
I looked over the bridge sections, and I thought they would've been Equilibus related, but they are from the original game. I had to cross check to make sure. My Bad.
I believe that Mr. K got everything from Equilibrus in this package correctly. Everytime I think of what might be missing, I eventually find it. So...I believe eveything is there.
And thanks to what you have provided me, making it easy to understand and allowing me to put a real positive spin back into H4 again, I could be making more maps shortly. (After all, it's winter where I live. Stuck inside.)
I am used to playing Equi 3.51 and have gotten accustomed and comfortable with how it plays. And if things are too easy or too hard, I go into the map and edit it. I then forget about the map on purpose for a while, and then play it months later.

Glad I could help out!

And also really cool that you're going to look into doing some map creating again.

Have you checked out the Advanced Options Map Editor? It can greatly reduce the time it takes to do map making. One of the nicest features is the ease of copying and pasting events / scripts between maps. You can even save your favorite scripts to file so that they will be available for you to copy / paste without having to remember which map they were in to find them in.

If you have additional time and would be interested, Karmakeld and I could use some help with some landscaping, as well as some map testing for the Unity project we've had going for a while now

That sounds good. I could help out if you like.
I also have all the Paint Brush palettes from Wild Bear, Pitsu, Ururam Tururam, Rife and others from years ago. (It pays to save older stuff on CD's. (That's what we used before USB's.} I have like 75 brushes altogether. I'm glad I saved them after all these years because I can't find them online anymore. So, that may help out with your project.
I also like using the H4util and H4Runner to make pictured maps. I need to test them to see if they work on Win10 without any problems. Geez, the Empire series of maps I made were just beautiful. They were released on CH only. I have them still. In original H4 and WoW format. Take a look at them sometime and see for yourself what they look like. And.....they are unscripted! Easily scriptable.
I also made a map called Hypnotized which was a random map created through the H4util. When or if you ever decide to make one this way, be prepared for massive clean up, and reshuffling your placeables. To get the map where I wanted it, it took me roughly under 2 years to do. And again, without scripts. I have that map as well in my files. Or Mr. K may have it as well. Either way...
I mention these maps because I was experimenting with the H4util and H4 Runner and the paint brushes at the time. Along with 3.51. I liked how they all worked together.
I read where some people were having trouble with the H4util. Making picture maps. I found the MS paint programs after Win98 are not easy to work with using the H4util. I still use the Win98 MS Paint program with these programs. It's sweet and easy.

Been playing catch up with my H4Util skills. It's been over 10 years at least since I used it last. Oh no!! I'm reliving nightmares from making the map "Hypnotized" using this utility. Funny how things come back to a person just after a few clicks! ('')

Try the advanced options map editor! I'm not just suggesting it because I'm the creator of the tool, haha

I guess it does depend on what you need it to do. H4Util can do some of the things my editor does, but it's a bit easier using my tool.
