Yeah, I really should....  the layout of Cave of Dreams was actually mostly done.  I still had to write the story events and give it to Fnord for scripting.

Hmm.., I wonder if I still have it around somewhere.

Hey Guys, I'm looking for some good multiplayer maps.
I don't give much about a story. I like playing maps where every player has similar start conditions. So if you know some good multiplayer maps i'd apreciate it if you post them.

Thanks

Sander's Folly

The beautiful and by right highly estimated Sander-Map now is about ten years old and played by lots of guys. I wonder, that the mapmaker in the meantime never has made any corrections!
These are my complaints and not too few:
1.In my first map run my Sander took the 200 mercury + bow and flew against pikemen. Day 1.1.6 re-buyed in the Vertigo-tavern, the story startet. Day 1.3.1 I employed the meanwhile dismissed Narrator with his wonderful artefacts in Ma’Goon tavern. I think, that was not the aim of the mapmaker. But this is so easy to correct to maintain the story line!
2. In the snowy tower area I met two stacks of minotaurs. Cyra was able to take one of them as joiners. Very helpful in the future.
3.  One shrine of two unspecified in the western swamp told me „Summon Boat“, therefore I didn’t need Gem in the tavern. All these items need corrections.
4. Lady Clubber supported me very good after having defeated her, then in green gown! If pleased, she can be disabled for the green party.
5. The Pandora boxes in the underground. At first the unguarded ones, all right.  But when one of my heroes is strong enough to beat Fej Moraji, he is by far strong enough to take these boxes with totally 3.380.000 experience points. And, if Isra or Vidomina do this work, additional nearly 100.000 skeletons for the green player. It is necessary to diminuish the guards!
6. In my map run the weak hero Straker had the D.M.Boots. An easy way to free the prisoners. These boots must be hidden behind a quest guard demanding the exitus of Fej Moraji.
7. There exists a wonderful water way to a wharf, leading to sea captains hat and to the orange Leblanc. But in this state of the map no summon boat is necessary. Faeries and mummies can be taken by water walk and the orange dungeon can be reached by flying Arestra from the waterwheel west of this dungeon. There exists a free landing point, which can be detected by this scouting hero with the speculum. In my run Clubber opened this view.
8. The quest guard demanding the red orb etc. must be put at the end of a long narrow water way without any chance to fly over the tower. This waterchannel should start from an subterra gate UG in the outmost southeast corner of the map and lead to the cave with the red one way monolyth. If there exists no wharf, the sea captains hat would do there a good job. The blow up of knowledge must appear behind. And plus 15 or 20 in knowledge are enough, because the artefacts of orange Leblanc count 20.
9. The reach of Gaylin Dale Nr. 1 (Northwest) by town portal must be stopped, because this possibility destroys the last act of the story. I would prefer to give this town to the orange party with some guards and a hero inside.
10. It would be good, to remove one of the details of the „armour of the damned“ from the artifact list, perhaps the rib cage. Otherwise with help of treasure chests, shipwreck survivors, the artifact merchants in Ma’Goon etc. the player would be able to fight against the orange Leblanc with the damned armour. This armour casts the spells although Leblanc has the red orb. In the „Armageddon“-Version, the map is made, the composed artefacts can not be placed on the map, but, if a hero has all the details, he although can put them
together.
11. Very grateful to get Orb of Silt and  Tome of Earth Magic from Sagimyris. But neither Sgimyris used these artefacts, nor the human player was able to use, because the following and last opponent, orange Leblanc, had the Red Orb.

I tried to discuss these theses with Th. Duncan, but no reaction upon my Email.
I think, the map is too old and he has other priorities.

When mentioning all this, it might be good to inform the community that you yourself have made a 'corrected' version of this map and uploaded on the German Heroes site 'Drachenwald'. Link: http://www.kartenarchiv.de/?area=h3
It's tricky for anyone else but the author of a map to do a thing like this without permission, and we can read in the comments section for this map - if we can read German - that you've already received some stick for doing this.
I don't want to add my own opinion here, but if you're posting the above, I think it's better to inform people about what you've already done.

@frifix

I'm sorry you were unable to reach me.  The email address listed in a lot of those older maps is no longer active.  If you still wish to communicate to me privately about this map, please send me an HCM.  Or we can discuss it here.

Thanks for the list of bugs.  It's been a very long time since I looked at this map, and so it would be difficult for me to fix it without a lot of legwork.  I will file your post away in the event that I ever get around to repairing it.

(I can't believe it's been 10 years!)

@Coconut

I do not have a problem with someone modifying one of my maps, provided the following conditions are met:

(A) You do not try to pass the primary work off (e.g., the map itself) as your own.

(B) You let me know that you've modified it and send to me a copy.

(C) You include in the text file clearly what you have done and provide a new version number for the map so that people who download the map can easily distinguish it from the original version.

A number of my maps have been translated and modified/updated by other people, and I think this is great! It saves me the trouble of having to do it.

Sander's Folly

Hello, happy for getting answer from Corribus.
Point A and C are fulfilled.
Now I am occupied with an overview of all the map-details, I have changed. In a short time, Corribus will get a copy of the map corrected by me.
Greetings, frifix.

New Sanders Map

Hello H3-fans here and especially Corribus!

Coconut has already shown the way to download this version:
http://www.kartenarchiv.de/?area=h3
That is the map section of the german community "Drachenwald", what means "Dragon's wood".
You can reach this german section by   www.drachenwald.net
The changed map now has the name: "Sander's News"
The original map of Corribus is like Maria: No stains! No touch of me!
In the second intro of the map the main improvements are listed. The complete list of changes (I hope, the list is complete!) I have sent to Corribus. Now everybody is able to see and to judge the awful things I have done!
So long, frifix.

Good morning

I saw this thread and decided to answer so everyone will notice this thread and hopefully also give their list

I haven't played many "user made" -maps yet but I have played a lot of map which were made by 3DO company (I think). I started to play "user made" -maps last summer but before that I have played some of them because they were in my "maps" -folder

So here is the list atm...

1. The Lord of War
This is the first user-made map I have ever played so this brings some memories from old time.. In fact I haven't even beaten this map yet In these day I played really badly against AI (I didn't know any trick versus legion of dendroids, just stayed and protected my shooters and got many losses etc..). But one of the reason why I didn't beat the map was that I wasn't able to go ship in the labyrinth. I don't know does it need any trick but anyway I didn't know how to get wizard's land either. Anyway I loved the look of the map..

2. The Lone Knight
This is one of the maps which I played recently I don't know much about story cause haven't studied english really well.. but I liked the route to beat AI in this map And the map looks good..

3. The empire of the World I
I also played this recently. I liked the routes and design was beautiful But the narrator was the best ever because this is maybe the first user-made map where I understood the whole story the narrator tells story simply and outspokenly, I liked it really much

4. Sander's folly
Well there were a lot of texts but I think that I understood at least the main story It was interesting to follow sander's footsteps in the beginning and at the ending It was quite painful that I didn't get logistic and or pathfinding at all but it was enjoyable to follow the plot

5. Realm of Chaos
Now this is the map which I have played the most and I think at least 50 times There is not much story but it is kind of MP map cause you are able to play all races .. I have played all races many times because I loved this map so much this map has something magic I think.. It was challenging for me (on normal level) about 6 years ago but not it is a piece of cake... but I still like this

6. GoldHeart
The first map which I downloaded and I really enjoy the map because of this The story is really good (I think that I understood all plot) and the adventure was really nice. Same author in Sander's folly I think But I liked the narrator in this map more than in sander's because it was easier to read story step by step

7. All for One
Well this is the first map I ever played in HoMM3 so.. it brings me very good memories because it was the first time I played.. Well all places were werid for me in these days so this map taught me all before I continued to other maps

8. The fall of Atlantis
I played this after Lord of war. Got owned sometimes but then I started with Tower and managed to beat all The key to the victory is to get one really powerful artifact which will make your battle against AI possible.. Anyway you can choose your starting position which are in 4 different locations. But at least one of them is impossible cause a computer will come there really often early with thousands of armies.. anyway I enjoyed the adventure and the look of the map

There is only 8 maps cause it is very hard to organize them because I have played all 3DO maps (which were in maps-folder when I got homm3 complete)
But anyway the list may change because I haven't played all famous maps yet which have all people spoken about. Right now I am playing "To kill for power" and "empire of the world II" and I have to say that these are great In "tKfp" I am in the "dream land" and it is kind magic I have to say I have seen the "market of time" before in a map "myth and legend" as I recall but have never figured what it is.. I can't even find it from editor . And "eotw2" is a big adventure I think (i'm in the first castle atm) and story is easy to read At least these maps will be in my list in future..

Sorry about my spelling mistakes

E: little mistakes fixed

Of all maps, I like "The empire of the world II" best. It's the vanguard map of "completing quest" and "hidding road" maps. And in my oppinion, Darklord is the best SoD-map.maker.
Next, I like "To kill for power" of Tang Wen En and "Unleashing the bloodthirsty" of Andrew Tanzi. I also like "The new world", an AB multiplayer map which all starting heroes are campaign heroes .
In WoG, I like "Time of prophecy" and "Alexander the Great" of Salamandre- both are good at game playing and storyline.

Empire II is also my preferred, because of blowing design mostly. I wonder if Darklord is graphical artist in real life, the creativity he shows when using the editor is exceptional. I spent weeks to move out/in decorations from his map until I understood the mixtures he used.

Fortunately there are all kind of maps out there, for every taste. I can enjoy great design or great fights, as well as great story and plot, surprises and unique adventures. If there were not Fnord/Corribus maps, probably I would never come to WoG, the generic WoG has no interest for me.

WOG adds lots of new features, but also lots of scripts to use in mapmaking. But this map "Strange Trip" is for AB and it has some WOG properties. I suggest that you play it.
