I agree it really depends on the player.

Let's say, excluding Conflux, Stronghold for strongest and Inferno for weakest.

Totally depends on the Map...
The Spells available..
Amount of creatures
because you can easily build 6th level dwelling in Fortress in THE FIRST WEEK..
it also depend on your game style..
My personal Fav is Rampart but i play way better with Fortress

I think strongest is rampart and weakest is inferno in small maps.In big maps necro is strongest and stronghold is weakest imo.

Dungeon is definitely the weakest town. All of the others have at least something going for them, but not Dungeon.

Dungeon is great. When you have high Spell Power + Expert Fire Magic + Armageddon you're unbeatable, because Dragons are immune for all spells, but can't resurect them if they are hurt from other units.

That is so wrong it screams I'm a H3 noob from a mile.

You'll see people debating over Inferno or Stronghold being the weakest, some will suggest Fortress or even Tower because of expenses, but Dungeon...

All creatures except Scorpicores kick ass, and in Wog, Scorpicores get to be great if they gain enough expi.

Shooters without melee penalty, mana vortex, artifact merchant and the creature portal which you can use strategically if there are good dwellings around... Harpies hit and run, Minotaurs are both good at defense and offense, Black Dragons spell immunity is great if you have stuff like Armageddon, Meteor Shower...

One question people say conflux is overpowed, but lets imagine we removed those things:
Magic Lantern, Garden of Life, Pyre buildings,
Sprite, pixie, firebird and phoenix creatures.
Conflux would still be overpowed?

Dungeon really isn't that good though.  Think about it... Which town has the highest level creature that could be classified as a complete rip-off in terms of value whether it is upgraded or not?  Inferno has lvl 5 pit lord/fiend, but dungeon has lvl 6 w/ scorpicore/manticore.  Other than that fact though, dungeon is pretty good.  If you can get around the fact that you won't have a lvl 6 worth recruiting (unless you have a large surplus of gold, but imo if this happens then you misplayed the financial aspect of your scenario and probably wouldn't make it very far in the end-game anyway) then you could argue this could be the best dwelling in the game.  It could also be the worst if you think your higher-level creatures are extremely important.  Just my opinion...

I usually just stick with castle, unless I know exactly what the map is going to be like, how much time I'm going to have to prepare, etc.

I think Inferno is one of the worst (except when you farm demons):

- Imps are very bad, the only saving grace is Familiars' ability. It's good but not spectacular.
- Gogs are very good
- Hell hounds are okay
- demons are below average
- pit fiends are below average, the upgrade is extremely expensive and of questionable value if you don't plan to farm demons
- efreeti are a good unit, good for cleaning neutrals and good for big fights due to fire shield
- devils are good at least against neutrals, but in big battles they're fragile.

So you 2-3 genuinely good units: gogs, efreeti, and possibly devils. Nothing to write home about.

Fortress is problematic, but the units are good up close. Wyverns and Serpent Flies can afford to be relatively weak because other levels make up for it.

I don't get why they decided to make scorpicores rather weak for their level. I mean, come on, it's a freaking flying lion with a proportional scorpion's tail.

regarding scorpicores / wyverns / efreet, i think the reason they all have less health is they are flyers.  flying and good speed is at least as good +10 to +20 health I think.

scorpicores could possibly be the most intimidating (based on looks only) yet worst creature.  although i also think they are cool

although inferno has low health compared to total health of other armies, it is possible to gain power quickly with just a few devils due to waiting in fights and no retaliation.   that makes up for the weak creatures in my opinion because you can win fights that other castles would probably not.   also inferno can be very dangerous with armageddon

dungeon is certainly not the worst town.. probably top 3 or 4 best.. deadly magic, portal of summoning (which can be downright unfair, i'm sorry), and strong army (good combo of shooters and flyers).

Yes, I am a noob, but I'm skeptical about Dungeon's creatures being that good.
Troglodytes - below average.
Harpies - good.
Beholders - average.
Medusas - below average.
Minotaurs - good.
Manticores - bad.
Black Dragons - below average.

Overall, Dungeon lacks anything that stands out. Harpies and beholders are good for early game creeping, and Minotaurs are good tanks, but that doesn't make up for the overall mediocrity. Sure, it beats demon and skeleton farming on small maps, but on bigger maps it's the worst.

Except black dragons are not below average and beholders and medusas are both ranged units without any melee penalty which is really really handy. Also, medusas' stoning can be quite the life saver. Compare medusa with other level 4's:

Crusader:I prefer medusas but let's say it's a tie.
Vampire: Definitely the strongest level 4 creatures. Medusas has no chance here.
Demon: Medusas are way better.
Magi: Again it may have been a tie, both ranged units. Yet I still prefer the no range penalty and stone gaze to mana reduction.
Basilisk: Medusas are better.
Ogre: Medusas are better.
Pegasus: In Wog these turn into awesome assasins with expi, but in plain H3, I'd take medusa over them any day.
Fire Elementals: Medusas are better.

So how is medusa below average? Same can be done for beholders, they are not below average or average. They are very handy.
