Then I guess we need a new MOD for the Monitor.  Wolfman would make a great MOD IMO.

Other Side of the Monitor

The Other Side needs an active mod.  There are off-topic threads floating around, as well as minor troll issues.  Valeriy just isn't here often enough to take care of these day-to-day problems.  By my understanding, the mods of the other forums do not have the ability to "swipe" off-topic threads from the Other Side or to delete troll-posts (i.e. those from he of a million usernames).

I made a topic on this problem then deleted it because it sounded like complaining without offering help.  The fact is, I cannot offer much help now or in the long run because my time and energy reserves are limited (technically, I'm not here right now ).  However, this is really frustrating.  Aside from hanging a "Please Do Not Feed The Trolls" sign on the door and politely asking people to make threads in the appropriate locations, what else can we do until the elusive Mage of the Land returns?

Edit:  Erm, add a bug report to this...Dingo seems to have contributed this thread before I even posted it!

It is a bug when the server thinks that the reply was posted earlier than the topic was announced. Though, it is always on-topic plus it happened before with my thread where BURCUSH posted before me.

I Agree

Khaelo,

I've been in agreement for this since I first joined Heroes Communtiy. The last time I saw Valeriy doing the Other Side of The Monitor was when he came to give me my avatar. That was the last I saw of him in HC. It's been a long time and I never understood why he only made himself the mod for Other Side. It doesn't make sense to me considering that he is almost never around.

If I had a choice, I'd vote for Khaelo to be a Mod in the Other Side. She's great and is a frequent poster there. If Valeriy get's this and wonders why I'd vote for Khaelo as a Mod then simply ask around. Lots of people will tell you Khaelo would do a fine job moderating the Other Side.

Khaelo (hey, I actually spelled it right!) would be a great mod, but right now she said her energy reserves are sapped.  We should probably use one of the mods that we have.

Off-topic, but another feature I would like relating to the Admin's rare appearance: An "override" feature that allows mods to do the same thing as Valeriy if 8 of them work together.  This would make it so that it's not misused, and it would make it so that we don't have the endless call for the admin.

khaelo would make a good moderator indeed.

been speaking to Ivo (nidhgrin) about this forum though and he decided not too give out QP:s because of that the threads here are usually very much emotional and that makes it really harsh to decide which posts that deserves rewards and which ones who doesnt.

I believe he has a great point. If you are a person who wants to be friends with everyone this is problably the last place you wanna moderate (though IMO if you wanna keep being friends with everyone you should have no part as a mod to begin with)

I think that the best mod fot the other side of the monitor would be Consis.
Why?
Because he always gives much thought to what others have to say about stuff and, most importantly, he always takes part in the kind of discusions that belong or already are in this forum.
The only thing that bothers me about him is that he is allways good hearted and cannot see that the dark side of the force rulez

But now, seriously, I think he would be a great mod here

Edited: I also would like to suggest that some other forums that have only one mod should recieve one or two more. I do not question the mods' abillity to moderet, no way, they are  good at what they do, but i do not think that they all have the time needed to take good care of those forums. If there would be mor of them on each forum, then things would go more swiftly.

as long as consis would stay fair and open minded i belive he can be a good mod too. The biggest "risk" with him as i see it is that he can be very emotional (which also can be a good thing but in leader positions it usually isnt).

as for vadskye and dingo.. i hope their "i should be a good mod" jokes were just..jokes

Val could just write a script that picks 2 random key words every day.  Every post made with the first random key word that day gets a QP and every post with the second random key word gets a penalty.  He could even give the robo-mod a fake screen name so that we could have 230 threads a day entitled "Superhappyfakemod sucks!"  "Why is Superhappyfakemod a mod?"  "Question for Superhappyfakemod..."  It would keep us entertained for months!

Requirements To Be A Moderator

FAQ/RULES clearly state:
Quote:
Can you let go of your own viewpoint and judge from a neutral perspective?

Khaelo can do this. She is an excellent candidate. I am unable to let go as Sir_Stiven pointed out. She would be a much better moderator.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Doomnezeu. I appreciate it.

Khaelo would be the perfect Other Side Mod.
I can just see her androgenous little manga avatar with the big sword underneath it!

Wolfman would be good too, until someone says something just a tad critical about the US, then he'd be handing out mega penalties

other requirements...

Mods need to have time, energy, and commitment to HC.  The job looks like a nightmare , so they need to want its responsibilities as well.  While I wouldn't mind filling a mod position temporarily, in the long run, I have none of these qualifications.  Therefore, I have not gone through the application process.  Presumably, Valeriy doesn't want intrim mods (temp workers never know what they're doing!).

If we're nominating candidates here, I second Dingo's psychic suggestion: Wolfman -- if he decides to apply, of course.

In any case, new mods would be delayed until Valeriy graces us with his presence again.    That was kind of the original point of this thread:  is there anything we can do now to prevent/curb potential problems in the Other Side?

Yeah, it isn't the first time this has happened either. I tend to find it quite amusing. However, I have a possible explanation for this madness: The timer offset in each profile is different, to a degree of 24 different hours, so the server may interpret a post from Dingo at 10:28, his time, to precede a post from Khaelo, the original, at 10:49 his time. It would technically be right in that regard, but let's say Khaelo is an hour behind Dingo. She would, therefore, have posted at 9:49 her time, long before Dingo's response, yet the offset may have caused the clock to misinterpret the timing of the post for whatever reason, confusing the server into thinking he posted before she did, when that is, in fact, untrue.

Oh great, now I've confused myself. Feel free to prove me wrong in this, at least I won't be so baffled by it anymore.
