When moving from road to grass or viceversa, you always consume 100 movement points, for what counts is the distance you cover, which is the same both ways. Wouldn't be funny if when you go from grass onto cubblestone road you consume half the points you go the other way (the distance being same in lenght)? Another example is when picking up a resourse from swamp when standing on grass: takes 175. Same if you stand on swamp and move (or pick up something) on grass: 175 mp.

I was planning to test about diagonal movement (for last move, that is), which I thought is only possible if the hero has at least 70% of the required mp left (i.e. 100 mp out of 140 needed on no penalty terrain), but all my testing led to no consistent result (on different terrains). I'm sure many of you noticed that sometimes, when standing on penalty terrain, the movement bar shows a bit of green left, but when trying to make one more step that is consumed without being able to move at all. This is what I was trying to find out how much should be for that last step to be possible both straight and diagonally. Result is ZERO.

Its also possible to see a bit of green movement point but not be able to move on no penalty terrain, even when you can make a straight move.

Bump. Again, too useful a topic anyways.

GabyStan seems to have said differently to angelito. Which is correct? I wish there was a mod or hook that displayed movement points so one could better judge their turn and whether or not they have the extra to hit something along the way.

That's not why I'm bumping though. This is: Does "hole" alter mobility at all? I mean a tile that's been dug up. I'm on a map where I have five heroes and I'm pretty well contained. So my off heroes are doing their share of digging just in case. Am I going to be penalized when I later move over those squares?

Last is not the same

I followed topic in vcmi trying to replicate heroes3 move formula, and after discussion what is bug in vcmi and what is not and why it behaves diffrent than h3 they discovered very intresting part of h3 move formula

the whole you get is right BUT NOT ON LAST STEP
the game has special formula about last step and generally it allows sometimes do last step on lopwer cost - by last step i mean last step it can do in a turn - so skiping one by one tile doesn't help
but this formula can be special funky with step between coblestone and swamp and has something special with moving on diagonal

i haven't followed the formula to the deep, but if you want please ask in english section of www.vcmi.eu

Great insightful thread. Do fortress, stronghold and especially tower heroes have all 15 movement points when walking on grass or dirt ?  I was always under the impression that Tower heroes have less movement then let's say castle heroes when on terrain that does not give movement penalties (grass, dirt, underground..)

How much movement does a castle hero have on grass if there are 20 wolf riders in his army that have joined him ?

Neither the hero itself nore the number of creatures ar relevant to the speed the hero has on next day. Just the speed of the slowest creature in hero's army at the end of turn, and the relation between the creatures in his army and the terrain tile he is running on.

this feature was already discussed here at Library...works for non-penalty terrains only
