I heard of such things already. Seems either your router "changes" the IP every now and then (not sure how or why it is possible) or you got an Antivirus program, which runs a "test" after a specific amount of time and closes ports for that, and then data cannot pass.
Did u try to set your computer on DMZ in your router menu? This should help.

@Dejavoodoo
Yes, there are always between 20-40 players in gamespy lobby of H3. On weekends even more.

DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) is an option in the "advanced settings" of your router menu. If your comp is set on DMZ, all data may pass for this 1 comp on the router. All other computers, which are connected to this same router can't host any games though. Maybe we can meet on Gamespy later, and you tell me your exact router modell, and I may find the way to DMZ for you.

..no wonder I'm having problems. As it turns out, GSA doesn't support Vista yet. *sigh* I guess I'll play with you fellows once GSA is patched for Vista.

If u got an MSN account, u can contact players via Messenger and play a game through TCP/IP connection. Read here for some MSN accounts of active players on gamespy.

question!

Hi, i have a question and would be happy if Angelito will give me an answer asap.
I use hamachi to play h3 all the time and for a week or so smth strange happens: when I connect to hamachi it gives me a virtual ip different from my LAN ip; i launch h3 connected to hamachi and when i try to host a tcp/ip game it shows me the LAN ip not the hamachi ip. Before last week all was normal, when i wasnt connected to hamachi the game showed my LAN ip and when i connected to hamachi it showed me virtual ip. Thats strange! What can i do to make h3 recognize my hamachi ip all the time?
Thx in advance!

You can't play online through the link in your game. You have to make an account on Gamespy (it is for free).
How to do that can be read in the first post of this thread.

When done, u have to go to the Heroes 3 lobby on Gamespy (look here how to do that) and u will find other players there.

Hehehe, it's my room.
I still cant connect to play any game yet! By TCP/IP neither GameSpy.
Im connect to Internet through a router.
As Angel's post said i must open some ports, by Start -> Setting -> Control Panel -> Windows Firewall. But there's simply no "Window Firewall" stuff in my Control Panel (Windows XP SP2)!
So i open my web browser, type in 192.168.1.1 (my router's ip). Btw my router is DSL-520T (it wrote that).
It pops up with very very much things that made me lost in it
Finally i found Advanced -> Filters. In that tab, I can add some ports allow or deny. But still, there are Inbound and Outbound.
So i add those ports to both and allow them, then Apply (2300-2400 TCP & UDP, 12880-?? (forgot)).
Then I saw in Advanced tab there is a DMZ tab also. Enter that tab, enable DMZ and enter 192.168.1.2 as IP address (dont know why, but I try something else, it said invalid, so there) ^^
I dont have time to test whether i can connect to play now or not, for some reason
I just say there what i've done, so if you know what's the problem with my comp, pls help me then ^^

The IP adress u have to put in when u set your comp on DMZ is your INTERNAL IP. The IP the router gave to your comp (192.168.1.1 is your router, 192.168.1.2 is the next comp, 192.168.1.3 the next...and so on...)

And your router should have a brand name too. "DSL-520..." is not enough
Like on cars...there is "500 SL"...but it also is named "Mercedes"..

So if u name the brand, I can find a link for your router...

Ok Angelito. May be D-Link is the brand?
Btw, if my Heroes version is pirate, can I still play on Gamespy?
I mean, when I launch Heroes, it said that I dont have a CD, then I can only join other's host, and I cant play single. I have a WoG crack that if I install that WoG, all be fine. I can play single then.
But the problem is, if I install that WoG, then my version is not compatible with other on GameSpy (and I dont wanna play WoG also). Recently, when testing with PopoTomato by direct TCP/IP, he said that he can see my host, but his game said my version is 3.5 not compatible. But if I dont install WoG, I cant play single, and my version is considered pirate (it's pirate really ofcouse )
Can you explain and suggest me something (dont tell me I must buy the game though ). Thx in advance!

You should try to get a game going with someone who doesn't have a router or any other things which could "disturb" the game/connection in any way. Coz if 2 players with routers want to setup a game, you never know who's the reason for the game not working.
Come to gamespy and look for someone who is able to play without any problems, that way u could find the reason for your problems easier and faster.

i dont know why it is always so hard for us to play multi online. I gave up with the router problem, so i cant play H3 on GameSpy.
Fortunately, i have hamachi and i can play with others through it. Why GameSpy doesnt as simple as hamachi?
btw, if anyone wanna play with me by hamachi, here is my room:
network name: heroesvn
password: 123

It's really hard to figure out why some have problems playing with routers, while others only adjust some settings and all is fine.

And about hamachi...the problem doesn't seem to be Gamespy, otherwise you should be able to play through TCP/IP without any problems.

So if u even can't play through IP, there is still something missing in the router setup.

Youve obviously tried alot of things, only possible thing I can think of is that you just have a sucky modem ive had that problem aswell but now I have a new one and most things seem to work fine now.
