Try the 47624 port aswell...directx applications..

Instead of just adding 47624 to the list of forwarded ports, I decided to choose "DirectX games" as the application that needs port forwarding in my router.  Interestingly, there are several more ports that get forwarded under this setting:
TCP Any -> 47624-47625
Any -> 2300-2400
Any -> 28800-28912
UDP Any -> 47624-47625
Any -> 2300-2400
Any -> 6073
(but it looks like 28800-28912 are not forwarded for UDP).

I have not yet had a chance to test this out with my buddy, b/c he's gone skiing.  But I'll report on the results once the test is completed.

6073 is the trigger port for the range 28800-29100.
So u got the range in TCP section, but the trigger port in UDP section.

HELP.
I can't even get to the lobby page of the game (Heroes III).
I have opened and forwarded ports.
I have added GSA to the antivirus exceptions and allowed it complete access to the internet.
And I can connect to GSA and access the home page and I can see the Heroes Icon under my games. When I click on it...NOTHING HAPPENS. The window goes black and nothing happens. sometimes a new window with a sponsor add pops up...but it's just a black screen. If I go back "home" everything is okay.
I have windows XP SP2.
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELPPPP!

Just close this black window by clicking the "x" button to the top right.
Here is a small walkthrough with pictures (scroll down to the middle).

Um...yes. I do that EVERY TIME. The new window dissapears and the I get the black window or the home page...but when I click the heroes III icon, according to your pics it should take me here:

I NEVER see that...I only get a BLACK SCREEN where the lobby is supposed to be.
And when I click on the icon it says theres only 1 player (I asume it's me, although I know there are more people online).
If I click on "home" it opens the web page perfectly...
WTF??
Please HELP MEEEE...
Like I said, I have Windowx XP SP2
I also have the HOMMIII: The shadow of death CD. Is that affecting things in any way? Although GSA does detect it and puts the heroes 3 icon under my games.
It's FRUSTRATING.
PLease help me.

Ok, so I connect to GSA and I go to the main page and I see this.

As you can see, there's the Heroes III icon under my games.
So I click on it and this happens:

Black screen...a (1) right next to the icon.
I have NEVER seen the lobby. THis is all I get.
And say, while I "wait" for the screen to change into something else, and I go to ANY other program, when I come back, the black screen is gone, and I see a part of the screen I just left...say, if I was checking my email, a "picture" of my email program appears on that black screen...I don't know if it makes sense...
For example, I opened the heroes 3 main page and then clicked back to GSA and this is what I got:

So...HELP??
I already forwarded ports and stuff...
I followed every instruction meticulosly...
WTF??

The middle picture...where u marked the Heroes III icon with a red circle. Just look at the very right side of the black screen....on top...there u can see a "X".
This black screen is supposed to be an advertisment. You will see a promotion for a game or something. So u have clicked on your Heroes III icon, then u see this black window, and NOW u have to close this black window ("x") and then u should see this:

At least this is how it works for me...

If this still doesn't work, u may have to install Gamespy again.

Hi guys,

I've posted before on the problems I've had with Hamachi.

It seems that the only way I can play heroes 3 against any of my friends is if we're all at the same place playing under the same router.  Anything else we've tried (port enabling, hamachi, etc.) doesn't work.

Is there any other way of playing heroes 3 multiplayer?  Me and my friends love playing heroes 3 and find it difficult to get out to the same household very often.

If I send out my hamachi address or my e-mail address, can anyone help me out?

Angelito - Perhaps you with your infinite wisdom of heroes can help?

As I am not using hamachi, I am not a professional refering to that programm, but I heard not all versions of hamachi, especially the newest ones, work smoothly. Some guys on Gamespy already complained about not being able to connect through hamachi coz of that reason.

Easiest and in the past most successfull way for me to help out other guys getting this game started is by meeting on Gamespy and trying step by step. Success rate is around 90% I would say..

So if you and your friends could log on gamespy and meet me in the lobby there, we could try different things and get nearer to the reason of the problem....and solve it hopefully.

What timezone you are? I am GMT +1 (Germany). If you could tell me some dates (and your nicknames) when I could meet you in the Gamespy lobby, we could try.

Thank you so much for the help Angelito.

I installed Gamespy Comrade to try and use gamespy.  I hope that works.  My nickname is raydar227.  I'm not really sure where the gamespy forums are, but if you login to comrade you can find me there.  If you can't find me post back in here and tell me where I can go to find you.

My time zone is mountain standard time (from Alberta, Canada) so I'm GMT -7:00.  I can make myself available at almost anytime so let me know what works for you and I'll try to accommodate.

Btw...I do not know about gamespy "Comrade". Never heard...so I don't know where to look for ya...

Edit:
Saw your message on Gamespy when I came back 10 min. ago, but when I tried to answer it, Gamespy crashed and shut down. So I could neither remember your nick or your email. Please post again here (by HCM).

Me and a friend are trying to play heroes 3 complete on tcp/ip, but we are having lots of problems. We both go on heroes 3 onto tcp/ip and when we search for eachothers ip (external) and it says "ip address can not be found." We both have hamachi could this be used in conjuction???

We both have our firewalls turned off and I have the heroes III ports forwarded on my router but my friend can not do any port forwarding on his router because it is his family's computer, could this be a problem?

If that is the problem can Hamchi circumvent that?

Can you help? If you have any questions about the problem please ask

If one of you can't forward ports in his router, nor set his internal IP on DMZ in router menu, you won't be able to connect.
For that reason, hamachi was created. You both have it installed I guess. One opens a hamachi network with a pass, the other one searches for this network and joins. That easy.

Paradox,

I've run into the exact same problem with Hamachi.  It seems to work with people that have tried helping me online, but it won't work with my friends.

It's actually kind of weird.  I can play against a stranger online by searching for their IP.  My friend can play against a stranger online the same way.  However neither one of us can play against each other.

Angelito has helped me with opening the correct ports through my router to play online.  If your router is on www.portforward.com then you should be able to give it a try.  They don't have a link for Heroes 3, but I think if you try the Heroes 5 link with the Heroes 3 ports it should work.
