The strange thing was, he was never disconnected when he unplugged the ethernet cord from his router and put it in his computer...

some routers (like mine ) has a wireless feature... and windows XP automatically detect a local wireless... maybe he thinks is connected to the LAN with his ethernet card, but maybe he is connected with the wireless card... also if you want to test it out... you can get my MSN messenger on my profile and have no problems in helping you

Choosing ally in multiplayer

Well, my problem is not so technical like the other ones in this thread; yet still gives me some bad times. During the last weeks, i've installed a lan on my home and me and my friends gather each Sunday and play Heroes. (Yes, these are among the happiest days in my life!) Last time we met, I made them play a random map. We used votrex template on a 2vs2 game (XL - no under). Unfortunately, the computer made up it's mind differently every time we started a game regarding which players are going to be allies. Angelito do you have a clue? Most likely I overlook something right now, since after many restarts we ended up playing with random pairs and not the usual "bandit teams".

I don't know if there is a problem, but I now use Heroes 3 Complete - a version that was freely given to the public via a greek pc-game-magazine.

Best regards,
dimis

If no computer player is involved, computer choses teams randomly, but tends to use the color order mostly.
Means, red + blue are allied and green + tan. This is what happens more often than blue + tan vs red + green.
But u canīt set it 100%...

Hi,I'm new to this site

and heelp!

I did everything as angelico the problem is 'Error occured trying to connect this session...'

I forwarded ports. Here is a screenshot of it.

(I didnt include the ip adresses in the screeny but red ones are the same and blue one is different)
I used the same IP adress that I wanted to forward, after forwarding, rebooting I figured out that I missed something after checking my IP adress again to write it for forwarding with servername GSA2 as you can see in the screenshot that my IP adress just changed(the blue one)(yea,no static IP)So I wrote the changed IP adress in the forwarding(the blue one)and I disabled the firewall and checked if Firewall permitted heroes3 and Gamespy. And everything is perfect!BUT WHY IS STILL GIVES THE ERROR!

help would be superb!great!extreme!

I posted in a hurry sorry for the grammar mistakes

Angelito, are you still available to test? I heard you got my friend, Traxion's HMM3 working, and he's the only one I'd be playing with, but when he tells me what you told him to do, and I do it...it still doesnt work. I sent you a PM with my MSN info. Thanks again!

that is the strangest window arrangement i have ever seen. it just looks totally backwards with the start menu on the bottom right, and the minimize-maximize-close on the top left of windows. wow lol.

i have the same forwarding settings as you; works fine for me i dont know what the problem is.

maybe you need to write negative port numbers... everything else is backwards on your computer lol.

Hey there, just a general query.

I used a play Heroes III online a year or so back, and always used MSN. Though obviously MSN no longer have a Heroes server...

So Gamespy have a heroes server? I searched and found an arcade download but probably due to my comp/AOL the download didn't work. Is this what I need to be getting?

Thanks for your help

You need to go here and click on "Basic Ad_supported". This is the version for free and enough for playing online.

Yeah, that download doesn't work for me. In mozilla when I click it, the download doesn't automatically begin, and even after clicking the link that normally solves this problem, nothing happens.

I've had no luck with the AOL browser or IE either (which is to be expected).

Is there another place I can download it? Or alternatively could someone email me the installer? prodigal17@hotmail.com

I appreciate your help.

If u even have problems with Internet Explorer, u have some strange setups it seems.
Perhaps u have your security settings on "NASA standard"?..
Check your internet properties about security level adn then u can also try to delete ALL temporary internet files. This will do wonders some times...

I deleted my temp internet files, as for security options I'm a little unsure ...

Is there really no other server, or another place to get the gamespy arcade?

When u click on the download link, there will "pop-up" a window, which shows the current status of the download and has to remain open till the download is finished...perhaps you have an active popup blocker, so this window has no chance to appear on your screen?

The pop-up window appears, but the download does not automatically begin (in firefox). So I click the link which is then supposed to launch it, but it says it cannot find the server.

In AOL and IE browser, the download begins automatically, but the progress bar remains empty, nothing happens.
