P.S  Regarding the Italian navy during ww2, the Brits actually made an air raid on Taranto the main Italian naval port, during which 3 Italian battleships where damaged. That meant a huge phsycological blow the the Italian navy, they actually never got over it.
The torpedo-bombers used in this air raid was the old bi-plane "Swordfish" completely antiquated, but this ole plain had some great succeses in the starting phase of the war.
Was a "Swordfish" from "Ark Royal" that crippled "Bismarck" so the british battleships could catch up with it.
The reason for mentioning this, is that if Britain had learned from their own succes the wouldnt have sent "Prince of Wales" and "Repulse" to the pacific once they realized the 2 battleships couldnt get carrier support. "Indefatigable" ran ashore during training in the Carribean and was being refited, this carrier should have gone with them.

Well, all armies have an weakness, the german army during WWII was very good indeed, but it had 2 great weaknesses: 1.Hitler not knowing and being logical that he can't take over the world witht he men and the resources he had and 2.His stupid command he promised one thign and did another thing.

If Germany's WWII army would have done it right ( don't attack russia or USA) then they might had won the war vs europe. Only britain was left of any serious threat..
They had some of the most skilled commanders ever, many say more skilled then allied had all togheter, but since germany lost the war beacuase hitler thought his "Deutchland" could take everybody on and be Victorious. This was later prooved wrong. Small battles have no importance. THe result is more Interesting. Some Countries losses a war with minimal resources and inflict maximal confusion and almost leave a country bankrupt to the Enemy. That is a victory, so that 20 years later the Country who had minmal losses but lost the war can attack again , this time on a extremly weak enemy. There are few examples on this, but there are some.

Seems I've missed it too, but many have left since they posted, so replying might be a bit pointless...
