extract midi files from HOMM2?

Does anyone know how to obtain the midi files from HOMM2? I think they must be stored in one file, namely Heroes2x.agg (or heroes2.agg if you don't have the expansion) in the data folder where you install the game on the hard drive. I think this is because I opened the file in notepad and found at the bottom of the page midi0005.xmi   midi006.xmi....etc. I think .xmi files stands for extended midi I read somewhere.

My goal is to see how the music was composed in homm2 which is obtainable through midi files.

Are there tools that anyone knows to extract midi or xmi files from a file or are there any other ideas on how this can work?

If you open the Heroes II cd in Media Player, you can see the sound files.

yes, but that are the stereo files. Gigahurz wants the midi-files. If you want to hear the "CD-Stereo"-Music, you can put ur H2 into ur CD-player. where to get the midi files.. dunno, sry

UPDATE: Well, I found two midis at VGMusic.com for HOMM2; the grass theme and one of the battle themes. Trying to contact the author of the midis to see if he/she has more.
However, it doesn't seem the midis are directly from the game but they do sound reasonably close to the music.

gigahurtz, those midi's were made by the guy on the piano. They aren't the actual song's.

Oh well, it seems the best way is to use some of those wav- to-midi conversion programs to convert the stereo tracks from HOMM2 to midi (these programs are not very accurate though but they do help).

Thanks for the replies.
