I don't have SoD and the stores don't have it anymore...
Well, I hope, I can get it in ebay or amzon...
But first I will await ur test

regards
Daddy

The only compilation still on the market that contains SoD is HoMM platinum(Homm1 ,homm2, homm2pol, homm3roe, homm3ab ,homm3sod)
How the hell do you get a signature! I have one, but it won't appear, and it's under the size limit!

Damn, I'm really the kind of guy that searches eBay for HoMM3 Complete and Platinum and HC: Final Chapters everytime I go online or so, and I rarely find anything. Maybe I just go online on bad days.

Hmm meanwhile, I checked my old cds and can't find World Tree (first downloadable campaign for HC)...

So if anyone has World Tree and agrees to send it to me, please contact me! I have Fiery Moon (2nd downloadable campaign) and the 4 first Chronicles that I'll be happy to share. (FTP anyone?)

I think there's a function on e-bay that lets you save searches, and will e-mail you next time an item of that description goes on sale.

Download World tree here.

Looks like eBay filters searches by geography.  I'm in the US, and I never could find Asmo's auction, even as a Completed auction, at www.ebay.com.  I assume neither of you are in the states?

I just now found ebay.com.au and ebay.com.sg that give diferent result lists.  I wonder what else is out there..

What I'd really like to find is a new Heroes IV for less than USD$60.00! *mumble*

Ow thank you. I didn't even know this place... Call me an imp.

I used the e-mail function for ebay searches a couple times in the past, but I figure I prefer to dig for treasure by myself... When I say I rarely find auctions, it's often because sellers don't ship to my country. Or because prices go too high too quick... A while back I thought I was the only HoMM3/HC enthusiast on whole Earth! I'm still amazed by the number of people willing to buy HoMM stuff at any price. I'm afraid I can't afford that. Plus I don't really like the idea to pay an "old" game more than its release price... knowing the money is not even for the 3DO guys...

live from inside the imp's brain

Just downloaded the Final Chapters h3c files. Gee, only 100 kb each?!

Are the Final Chapters only 2 scenarios or complete campaigns? I'm asking cos I don't have HoMM3 at hand, only all 4 Chronicles so I won't be able to test those h3c right away.

If the Final Chapters (h3c version) are only 200 kb, I really don't know why I'd buy them on cd. Still, the videos, even though they're sometimes unclean and even crappy in places, are a nice "reward" especially in the Chronicles. Dilemma, dilemma...

I've been comparing the Final Chapters .h3c files to the CD version, and for 100k files they're surprisingly complete.  The entire campaign is there, including the scenario vidoes and text, but without the narrator's voice.

The only other differences I found were the loading screen images and the scenario selection menu.  The CD gives you 8 scenario icons, the files give you a blinking map.  And of course you miss out on the main menu background images.

Still, I'm happy I bought the CD. I probably paid way too much (nearly US$40.00), but it was worth it to me.  Looks like it's getting easier to find and a bit cheaper now, too.  There are three USA auctions on eBay right now, all for half of what I paid.

So does Ubisoft own the Chronicles series along with everything else, or is it abandonware now?  (Or both?)

No it's not illegal at all. I can download whatever I want. If I should think that paying 25 dollars (and spending a lot of time and effort to find) for an un-playtested, un-balanced, not even thought out piece of "work" (with a catching storyline though) and and I even manage to find it somewhere on the net (where you can download it in 100k format in 1 seconds), I can do it legally.

The one who put it up there violates the rules though.

nope, downloading is illegal too. especially if you know you are not supposed to do it. but you are right, the bad guys are the ones that want 25 bucks for 100K

It's not illegal to download the files if you already own the original, which I do.  I grabbed 'em only because Errator asked what was in the h3c files, and I thought others would be interested in the comparison.

I certainly didn't intend to turn this thread into a who's-a-pirate discussion.  They almost always turn into flame wars.  If y'all want one of those, go start a new thread in the Wastelands so it can be deleted in a week.  *growl*

I'd still like to know if Ubisoft, or someone else, owns the Chronicles series.  If it became freeware/abandonware with the death of 3DO, then the whole piracy issue is resolved anyway.

I don't think the chronicles actually worth that 25 bucks, with what I heard they are just four small simply designed maps (with a storyline which I suppose is the only reason that everybody want to get a hand on them) with no new animations (those animations you get in campaigns for each level), artifacts, monsters, terrain, towns etc. and I suppose they have not even create a new artifact for the sword of frost, huh?

The Final Chapters CloneCD

Hi All! Sorry for disturbing.
Because of Heroes Chronicles: The Final Chapters buying impossibility I want to ask the lucky owner of the Original CD to make CloneCD-Image (1:1) and share it with the Community. Nonworking cracks suck...
Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english.
