Er... yeah...

This isn't really answerable, and people are just going to pick their current favorite again.

However, Beethoven was pretty good.

He wasn't. But that doesn't mean his music was bad. It's really good, but for me, Queen will be the best forever.

Queen isn't much like Van Halen...

they have a lot of similarities to Blind Guardian though.

Heh.

You're right.  Most people will just pick there favorite band... and I'm no exception!!  I'd say Led Zeppelin.  They were the godfathers of hard rock w/Black Sabbath being second.

Queen is good, but some of there stuff is pretty wierd.  Like all the stuff for the Highlander movie.  'Bicycle' is great, though.  Just (whoops, Youst) try listening to that withoug smiling!

Highlander stuff???

"Who Want's To Live Forever" is my mom's favourite song. And it's not wierd. "I'm Going Slightly Mad" is kinda weird, but it's one of my favourite songs. "A Kind of Magic" also was to be in Highlander, but finally it wasn't. There's no such song as Bicycle. Maybe you ment Bicycle Race? If you think you can't listen to it without smiling, try and find the text for "I'm Going Slightly Mad". This is a small sample of it's humor: "This kettle is boiling over. I think I'm a banana tree!"
Isn't that funny? Or how about this one: "I'm driving only three wheels theese days. Oh my dear, how about you?". Bohemian Rhapsody is also cool. How many different styles in one song (I'd say the same thing about Innuendo)! Headlong is quite nice.

hmmmmm  I would say that Cradle of Filth are definitely an acquired taste live, some people dont go for the chained fetish grils and the fountains of blood (altho they put on a great show). Best live band by far was KISS in the late 70's (and if u argue with this, u aint being fair lol) I dont think anyone can compete with the live show those guys used to put on. Another great band, and I was quite surprised at it, was Skid Row, very energetic and powerful. I saw them on a bill with Guns 'n' Roses, and they kicked gunners ass

Once there was a german band named Roten Rosen or something like that. It means red roses. But they've changed the name to Toten Hosen, which means rotten trousers lol! Cool, huh?

U2...

Maybe it's nowadays more pop than rock but...
I happen to really like all these songs...
I usually like only few songs from each band, but somehow U2 is whole different same goes with The Shadows...

Few songs:
Pride (In the name of love)
One
Lemon
Numb
Where the streets have no name
With or without you
Still haven't found what I'm looking for
Mysterious Ways
Real Thing
Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me

Sorry...LOL...

I had to do this.
I was sure that you would like that...

BTW Cradle of Filth happens to have some "good songs" (my friend is HUGE fan) but somehow I always think that people are just liking them because they do things like what they do in the picture you posted rather than from the basics of their music...

So how is it? Do you like them because of their music or because of their reputation and their ways of showing things?

Their image made them more popular than their music did.

Their music is above average, but nothing spectacular in general.

Has anyone else heard of the new band MudVaine?  They're pretty good.

Queen has a lot of good stuff, I just think some of their songs are.... not my type.  "It's a kind of magic" is a good example.  But no one, and I mean no one, who has heard Bohemian Rhapsody can say that isn't a great song!

Iron Maiden?  Iron Butterfly!

About Bohemian Rhapsody, I'll have to agree with Lord Paul. Do you have any CDs of that band? If yes, which ones?
