Something else. Look at what the thread is about and consider what you are posting. It's not a popularity contest neither a place to ask for yay or nay, it's a thread to announce changes in the modsquad. If you want feedback better stick to hcm, keep this thread clean please.

Also do keep in mind that being a moderator is not just a perk, an upgrade to your membership. It is a serious job that requires free time, clear head and a neutral perspective. You will have to read every single post in the subforum you are appointed at, keep a consistency in the quality points handed out, resolve arguments, deal with troublemakers, clear unnecessary posts and generally be a role model for others. Ask yourself if you will have the time or enthusiasm to post for fun like you used to.

QFT and QFE.

And let me emphasize that it requires even quite a lot of time if you want to really do the job properly and in depth. That's why you'll see some of us not always being equally present and active in our respective fora.

As a final sidenote, I could add that I actually agree with someone from previous page that your personality doesn't really matter that much when it comes to modding - the important thing is that you're mature enough to put your own interests aside and keep calm and take a qualified decision on how to handle the situation, even when people poke sticks at you or try to agitize you in other ways. In fact, the current mod squad is an extremely heterogene lot when it comes down to personalities.

The Collective Corporate Joint/Shared Moderation Adventures Of THE POSTBUSTERS

"We have massive complaints about a thread."
"Really? Which one?"
"'Take a Sin, Leave a Sin'."
"Rght, I got some as well about that one. Ok, let's give it a quick once-over, that thread just reached 3rd page, so that should be short work."
.
.
.
"Well? What do you say?"
"Hmm, strange. Pretty quiet thread, actually."
"Yup, strange, indeed. Lust and its desastrous effect on the human race is an issue..."
"And the virtue of greed as well, although it's called a deathly sin there - so what's wrong?"
"Honestly, I've no idea. All the prerequisites are there, but still: no discussion, neither about capitalism/socialism nor human/machines. Not even ONE off-topic stray."
"Well, that might be the problem, it just wouldn't be off-topic, really. It would be more like AROUND-topic..."
"Right. So what do you say? Do the complainers have a point?"
"Definitely. NEITHER off-topic strays NOR heated discussions about either economical issues or human/machine comparisons..."
"Well, that's the problem with these around-topic threads, they make discussions impossible."
"Exactly, because no one knows whether something is on or off topic. So, what do you say? Warnings for all?"
"Thread starter is the culprit. The rest just followed suit. What could they do?"
"Agreed. - I have to say, I had a bad feeling complaining about that thread, but it was the right thing to do, really."
"Exactly my feelings. Doing things by the book can be so gratifying..."

Well it normally works the other way around: You apply if you feel you have something to contribute, and we consider whether we agree - which will be both an evaluation of whether we see you to fit the role and also whether we actually feel there's a need for more moderators in the fora you apply for.

So in general, if you feel a forum needs more attention and you have something to contribute, send an application explaining why and what you have to offer.

Due to heavy RL work load Pandora is lightening her HC moderating work load and stepping back from Volcanic Wastelands and Other Side of the Monitor. MightyMage and Elvin are jumping in to take care of the Volcanic Wastelands. Mytical and ShadowCaster are joining Angelito in Other Side of the Monitor. Angelito steps in to help look after the Turban Tribunal.

I'd like to give Pandora huge thanks for looking after so many forums for such a long time! RL always takes priority and balance is important I'm glad you are still staying around despite the work pressures. If you free up again, any forums are yours for modding

Lich_King has not been seen online for a long time and my attempts to contact him have not been successful. I sincerely hope that he is doing ok. While he is away I've taken his name off the moderator list of the Lands of Axeoth, Temple of Ashan, Altar of Wishes, Age of Heroes Coliseum and Turban Tribunal, while retaining his moderator status. Hope to see you back soon Lich, at least let us know how things are going.

Finally.
Funny how people hate you when you mod & put your sword down.
Now that you are retiring from modding in a few forums, they feel bad.

Well I for one am glad you are. You defanately felt the pressure.
Plus your RL & other responibilities that the children here (Especially the guys) will never understand.

Good for you.

I don't think it is that Aculias.  We can disagree with somebody and still respect them.  Authority can grate on people sometimes, but you can like the person and not agree with their views.  I know I am going to clash with several of the longer standing members of the OSM.  It is my hope that even if they disagree with me (and they will) they still respect me like they did Pandora when she was OSM Mod.  Heck if I get half the respect that Pan did here I will consider it a victory.

Mytical, you'll be great And remember, I still have a sword, and if you need me I'll always be around (there's no escape for me !)

Aculias and Geny, now we have some time for fun again

@ Azagal, I didn't take what you said in a bad way - I know too well that we've had more than enough arguments along the way, but in spite of personal disagreements you were never disrespectful towards me as a moderator.

As for choosing replacements, this was no spur of the moment decision - its been quite a long time coming. This way seemed a much better solution than leaving HC entirely, and we spoke in HQ and I spoke with Valeriy for quite some time about it before it actually happened out here.

The new moderators are going to be much better suited to 'the new ways' than an ancient like me Treat them well (or else)
