Stealth!!!!
There will be stealth in Heroes 4! 3do said so in an article at IGN.com. See for yourself: click here
I posted some of the article on page 6 of "There will be 6 levels!!!!", so if you are lazy you can go see it there.
The question is, what will stealth do? Will it make it so the opponent can't see you? Will he know you are there if he moves his mouse over you and a sword appears? What will the 5 levels of mastery be? Can you surprise attack towns?
So many questions!
What do you all think?

Stealth must be part of scouting. Along with logistics & pathfinding. Didn't they say 3 secondary skills to each primary skill. I think that means attack & defence will probably mearge with offence and armour under combat skill.
Stealth = ambush.

Ahhhhhh.....
I found this at Computer Games Online:
Quote: "Heroes can travel alone, which will actually be required to take advantage of things like stealth and invisibility on the overland map. Heroes will also participate directly in tactical battles, so they're more like playing pieces rather than just modifiers."
So stealth will only work when the hero is going solo. Hmm, sounds like stealth will even make you invisable. Hehe. I could just go into enemie territory with invisabilityand take mine after mine after mine.......

And what exactly does traveling "alone"? With or without unsits is my question. Probably without units. That would be fun, a hero going on a limb and not worrying about which stpid unit to take to get the right amount of speed....sounds good.

If that becomes possible, I think the game will be quite weird. Maybe you lose the invisiblity for one day when you take a mine?

I think it's safe to assume that traveling alone means travelling without any other units. After all, your not exactly alone if there are 100 people traveling with you. I'm not sure what else they could possibly mean by alone.

Yeah, the golem dragon is definetly in the game. It's part of the story line. It will probably only be in the campaign or be a neutral unit. Then again, who knows?
Um, I assume alone means without troops. So, do heroes come with troops now, or do you buy them solo, too? This sure would screw up the 'Gremlin Rush' strategies.
I hope ambush is part of the 'Stealth' skill.

that would make ambush useless

I dont know about that, if to use stealth your hero needs to be alone, and ambush would be part of stealth, well dont ya think ambush would be pretty much useless, i mean for stealth you need to be alone, so theres not much of an army your hero can ambush, even if hes a high level, he cant do much

Personally, I'm hoping either stealth or invisibility turns out to be an ability that allows you to enter a town without having to capture it. This would allow you to visit places like the marketplace, blacksmith, mage guild, or even the tavern, but not let you buy troops. Imagine a map where you had to go into an enemy town and find a particular hero in the tavern there, hire that hero, then sneak out of the town again in order to complete a quest. With the new scripting engine, the mapmaker could even make such a visit a condition that had to be met before you could finish the map.

Wow!
That is a great idea. You should send that to 3do! They listen to every recomendation, even the stupid ones. Heres the address:
heroes3websters@3do.com
I meant that ambush could be a skill you have with stealth when you have troops, that way you could actually use the skill more often. You wouldn't be invisable, but you could surround the enemie (like in the banks) when you attack.

ohhhh, ok, i understand that, that makes sense, that is a good idea, i dont know if you meant it like this, but ya know when you fight like a dwarven treasury, or naga bank, or somthing like that, your army is surrounded, maybe ambush could be somthing like that
spidermage, great idea, there has been many cases where i would have liked to be able to do that

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant. What's the point of trying to be invisible if it only works when you have no troops? Most of the time you will have troops! This way the skill still works, without making you invisible, so it wouldn't be worthless most of the time.
And you really should send that idea to 3do Spidermage!

Well remember that fog of war works differently now. So it could be really useful having a scout hero with stealth running around mapping the enemy territory, keeping track of his troop movements, watching his towns to see when heroes leave, etc.
