ehh...

Do the Australians drink tea? I never found that out asking any so far, mostly they deny it, but with such heavy British influence... I wonder.

Oh, buckshot? Well, I guess it's too bad you didn't follow your carinovorous instinsts and instead let him demonstrate just why hollowpoint is superior to buckshot. I guess his methods worked for him afterall though you were disappointed. Would that be more goose than gander?

Silly silly

Just so you know I'm not Australian. And if you think this place is under British influence, well it just goes to show how much you really know about Australia.

Told you he was buckshot..... don't need carnivorous instincts to know that, Ich.

Not Australian?

Well, what is an Australian? Someone who lives there, has lived there, or only people born there?

I think Australia had alot of British influence, I didn't say they are still under it though. Actually I hardly know anything about Australia. I could tell you more about any country in South America, or Asia than I could about Australia.

Ok, so what kind of instincts are we talking here than? Apparently you have them in more abundance than your plentiful confidence. ;-)

Back to thread

Sorry Ich, you're just a little bit too curious about me, so I'll leave it there. If you would like to have a nice talk though, feel free to IM me or message me on Zone.

I didn't actually know about the third star until someone told me about it and I actually looked over and saw a fourth quality point there as well. I was pretty shocked and at the same time, pretty pleased with myself. I'm not afraid to admit to that either, go ahead and bomb on me all you like. I don't kiss butts and I sure as hell don't come here to 'conform' with any sort of ideas. Val, I agree with you when you say that people will chase stars, regardless of colour or meaning. I thought about it and realized that it is pretty damned easy to rack up a bad point, so I guess that idea is out the window.

One thing I don't like about it, is the prefix in front of the posters title. Promising Famous Hero is kinda lame. I know you guys put a heck of a lot of thought into how to approach the idea, but I don't think it works very well. For me, well I'd like to see a title other than HERO. Maybe a medieval title? Famous Noble? Famous Knight? Famous Dutch/Dutchess? Famous King/Queen? To advance beyond the rank of a mere hero no matter how many posts, will surely give people even with low post counts something to aim for. I mean, the word promising doesn't really say all that much apart from make you feel like some sort of teacher's pet. It feels... let's say, condescending? I don't know about you, but I don't really like the feeling of being promising. It sure as hell makes me feel as if you guys have something in mind (why the hell are we promising for?) for us and like I said, I don't come here to conform to other people's ideas on what I should be.

I have surely something in mind just for you..

Some ideas about system Shae_Trielle mentioned...

I think "hero" after that famous could be changed into knight. So it would be:
(Yellow Stars)
1 Unknown
2 Adventuring
3 Known
4 Famous
5 Supreme (Hmm...some other word here?)
(Red Stars)
1 Knight
2 Baron
3 Earl
4 Duke /Dutchess
5 King /Queen

(Can't remember those female versions so please forgive me dear ladies)
(So I would be currently Known Earl...quickly Famous)

Also when one registers there should be option of female/male (which would affect that noble name) and then later on chance to claim avatar as Shae said in the other thread "claim your avatars".

Fullof many things perhaps because...

you are missing the one thing you really wish to be full of? No need to comment if you don't wish though I have a feeling you will eh, Shae? ;-) j/k Actually you made a number of insinuations, I can't speak to what is being promised; but if you feel the temptation to fulfill that, there could be some type of video deal for you...

Ahh... actually I pretty much only write on message boards and usenet groups. I have ICQ, but I haven't used it in years. I think I have AIM and rogerwilco and all the common chats plus mIRC channels I never join anymore. I just don't have much time, well- except at work, but my server is monitored so I can't really run chats, posting on message boards is the extent. On my home computer I might chat in german or portuguese internet rooms just to practise those languages, but that's it.

I used to post on 3DO's board alot before they made all these different communities the only forum, and I was just bored one night and surfed through the entire toh website and discovered this board, didn't even know it existed a couple months ago.

you want the breakdown?

I assumed you'd understand the innuendo, my bad. I'll edify-
What you want to be full of I thought was rather obvious, can't believe I have to explain that, in fact I won't.

A video deal was refering to your complain about what you are promising, if your innuendo it was something randy was accepted, then the idea of everyone holding you to your promise would mean an instance(or several instances, but anyway)could arise wherin a video sold only in certain stores could make enough money to fund your next vacation. I thought it would be a little crude to say it without innnuendo especially since I wasn't serious anyway, hope you understand better now?

Although, morbid fascination- interesting intrepretation if you think the staggering hunger I have for anything to do with you should turn morbid as a result of learning more about you.  Oh, just in case you didn't catch it... laying it on this thick means it is sarcasm, but having to explain makes it not as enjoyable.

I think I'm going to be rather disappointed if Chariotess has just suddenly appeared to defend the suddenly absent Sha_men from poster's ever present criticisms. Please, I think Sha has enough intelligence about him to fend for himself, don't you?

Ichon, LOL. You might just have to be a little bit more clear in the future. I finally understood the reference to a video thing. No thanks, I don't give away my secrets that easily....

Lupin, the red stars are just some sort of recognition for really good posts. The more you get, the more highly recommended posts you have and the more red stars you are given. This probably means that even your crap worthless posts are likely to be read many times by people looking for some sort of deeper meaning. Read many times by people looking for some sort of deeper meaning. Read many times by people looking for some sort of deeper... LMAO!

He didn't ask me to defend him here. He is gone for a while and how he can defend himself if he doens't have internet connection there where he gone? I didn't just suddenly appear here. I've been here lurking around for a while as Shamen gave me the hint to visit this place. There are some nice people here he said but he also said that some are pretty aggressive and don't understand something the right way. But maybe I give Shamen chance to defend himself but it's possible he even never reads this when he comes back if this post is forgotten. I always stood by my friends. What ever the cost.

Pretty agressive and also dense?

Well, I don't know if Sha-man had me in mind, but since he is always surprised how I interpret what he posts it's possible.

It's kind of funny you ask us to be nice, then go and say how absent minded Sha is, and also his countless mistakes. I'm sure that's what friends are for though. ;-) I'm curious if you are also Finnish...? I used to live in a neighborhood with three Finnish families so I actually know some background on the customs and a few idosyncrasies. Nice to meet you anyway Chariotess.

Shae- you have secrets? Deep and dark ones you'd have us think apparently... well, nothing in life comes cheap so do what you have to do. ;-)

OK, let's straight things up. Sure Shamen is my friend and he can take the critic of absentmindness. He cannot defend himself if I attack with that because it's the truth. And Ichon yes he was referring directrly to you I think about being agressive I have read some of his and your posts and it seems there some kind of clash there between you too, am I right?
You had three finnish families there? Cool. I mean usually people start discussion with finn the first question is what do you drink? I'm finnish and I have same hometown as Shamen but now live far away from it.
Where are you from Ichon?

Rogue, so you are moderator here? I'm not sure is this avatar from movie Merlin if you are talking about that. I just picked this up this name was Verdish or something. I have OK custom avatar ready I'm just thinking were to put in the net or can you email it to you moderators directly? I also have to get that post count to 50 so please how about someone trying to get some good discussions going so I get some posts. I'm good talker when things get rolling.

Change is inevitable, progress? Maybe not...

LOL  Well, the truth never got in the way of a good defence, ask any lawyer! Probably he wouldn't defend himself about his absent mindedness since he's actually mentioned it himself occasionally.

Actually, I don't think there is a clash between Sha-man and I- he is one of the few people on here I like to read, and I only correct him sometimes because I think he will actually benefit from it where most people wouldn't bother to think about it at all. He also knows some history which is nice, not many Americans do, more in Europe; but only most often what they learn in school and not more than that. It's funny he thinks I am agressive, but I am getting used to that from Europeans. All my friends in Germany and Sweden say that same things, but strangely most people in the US think I am only average aggressive. I hadn't noticed a huge difference in aggression levels between the old countries and here, but perhaps it exists.

So what do you drink? j/k  Funny that would be the question if you didn't meet them in a bar/pub. I'm from Seattle in US, but now live in Austin, Texas... It was pretty funny one of the men from those Finnish families looked very much like Saddam Hussein, some other people in the neighborhood had trouble to sell their hosue because of that. Very dark Lap, he married a Norwegien though so his daughters were nice, dark skin, but auburn hair with a crown of blonde, I never saw anyone with hair like that till I met them, It's weird that can be natural. Anyway... What town is it you are from in Finland? I have been to Sweden, Norway, and Denmark, but never went to Finland.

Progress is inevitable. Change? Yes that even more. Progress is inevitable if you like to develop your character. Everyone's got to change and move along. Change is word that can describe things going downward too. If I would say change it can mean anything. Because everything is change. But when I say progress is inevitable it's thing that you cannot evade if you put your mind into it. Without progress there isn't nothing or nothing important. But if I say change there is something but not necessarily important to you. As you happen to notice this can whole thing arguing which word is better change or progress can go forever. I might change that signature some day but let it be now. I like which matters the most. If you don't like it what I can do? And where is your signature and Avatar? Or are you so shady and hideous that film cannot be edited when they take your picture.
Finns drink too much and if you have lived along with three finnish families you should know that. That's why people ask what do you drink? Now that you mentioned it many finns are blond. Not me though I'm perfectly dark long haired beauty. In fact I have some blond stripes in them right now so they look like that girl you talked about. But I have pretty white skin so sorry to disappoint you. You had good fantasies about that girl, didn't you? LOL
I live in Helsinki which is Finlands capitol but I'm from small town that I'm visiting right now. You should visit Finland and if you visit in the winter take some warm clother with you, OK?
Shamen didn't mention your name in vain I was just making a point. You aren't so aggressive but I think you're pretty obsessive how do you right your messages. You say that Shamen will learn from his own mistakes but do you learn if somebody says you made mistake? Or are your opinions so perfect that you are untouchable? I don't think so...

What is progress?

I ask that because while I think change is inevitable not everyone puts their mind towards developing their character positively. Also- what one might call 'progress' another derides as degrading. So I think progress isn't always inevitable. If you admit progress is inevitable only if a person is constructively taking part in their own destiny I agree, but that certainly isn't true of all people. Also, what about the larger picture, society, culture, civilization, etc... do you mean progress at the final end point of time, or along the linear path we travel to get there? There have already been times in history when civilization and most personal progress was in retrograde, likely there will be times in the future also.

Ahh... how do you think I visited Norway, I had to go see that girl when she moved there away from her parents to go to school. I know FInns drink alot, but I've noticed that most seem to grab whatever is handy after the first few so to ask, "What are you drinking?" is redundant to the fact they are drinking something acoholic.

I would like to visit Finland sometime, maybe when I go to Europe next, but I am planning on Italy, and Spain then- not sure if I will get that far north.

Hehehe- everyone seems to think my answers are too much, but I type really fast so since I tell myself I really want to exchange some ideas that it's worth it in the thought it takes to translate what I mean into words the actual recording of those words is the minimal part in the process. Of course no one likes to be told directly they are wrong, but you can learn from it- sure I might not change my mind totally if someone says I am wrong, but I will certainly look at it from their point of view and consider if they have a valid reason for saying that. Even if they aren't totally correct, I might learn something or find out some aspect of the dialogue I hadn't considered before so it's still valuable. I don't know how much Sha-man changed his mind about anything as a result of something I've said, but so far since we've only talked of WWII and H3 mostly it's not like we are speaking of hugely importan topics. I'd like to play Sha in H3 sometime though, just to see if his thought process works the same way in the game as how he writes. Same with anyone who at least bothers to write their ideas or explain anything, usually a sign of a deeper level of thinking, though not always.

That progress means control of character and its development for me. I don't mean anything progress with civilization but one's own development. And that's very important for me personally. And I'm learning knowledge and new skills all the time. Question is are you? Or are you just wanna be riding the wind without cause? I don't really have any other cause myself than that progress of myself. I hate fate if it is something you cannot change. I see that my destiny is in my own hands but there is chance that something might go wrong. Because I think I can only learn from my mistakes I really can never lose as there is always something left. Death ends it all but when it happens it happens. What else can you do but live before it? But let's not go deeper into this OK?
So you have noticed that drinking habit of finnish people. Good for you. I meant that question "what do you drink" as ironic thing, too bad you didn't get it. And I was right you had/have soft spot for that girl.
If we could type with finnish I think I could beat you, you know But I'm not really so good at english. Even Shamen is better and he has more patience when it comes to writing that I do. What comes to playing he sucks. And I mean badly. Somehow still he beats me always in hotseat game, wonder why? So who sucks now?

Behold the true, and you shall be free!

Even within ones own development there can be retrogression or forgetting of old skills, talents- etc... it depends on what you consider essential to meaning, or the other things are pointless towards making yourself more developed and teaching character to grasp ahold of your destiny.

I don't learn as many new skills as I used to when I was younger, but motor functions take longer to learn well than does knowledge. I am learning new facts, ideas, concepts, perceptions everyday- that won't ever change if you keep even a little bit of an open mind. The best things to do are travel and read which while I don't read as much as I used to that means only two books a week compared to five or six when I had more time. Travel is my #1 priority. My hobbies aside from computer and skiing are nothing that takes any money since I save it all to travel.

As you were refering to another's question the irony wasn't as obvious as if you said it yourself. Of course you did, but in reference to another... so I did miss it anyway. That girl still writes occasionally and I just enjoy to have people around the world to talk with and visit when I am in their countries.

Yeah, I know it's hard to write fast in another language, I write very slow in German, and I don't really attempt to write yet in Portuguese, but I can read fast at least in those languages. Maybe you could beat me, I wasn't offering a challenge directly however.

LOL He has more patience than you? Well, you replied to everything in these threads so far, and that is better than him. Of course I assume you are on vacation visiting your home town? Well, lots of time to check the computer between visiting old friends and such I know how that goes.
