Tavern Atmosphere
What makes a Tavern so 'taverny'? The answer is as plain to see as the nose on your face. People make the tavern what it is. Rules don't set the tone for a tavern, implied unspoken social guidelines do. When people visit the Tavern, they come here for the laid back atmosphere and congenial aura.
"Have an ale, tell us your story" is what it says at the door. There's no lock on it, no set of hardline rules posted, and no bodyguards. There aren't any bars on the windows, moat surrounding the building, or fence encompassing the grounds. Inside, there is a small stage off in the corner raised one foot-high for fools and comedians. In the other corner you'll see a nicely lit hearth, poker, and blower with a good healthy stack of freshly chopped logs. There is also a bar for serving whatcha like(all manner of droughts and quick snacks). There is a nondescript slew of stained wooden tables with short-wick candles half-melted in the center. They don't serve meals! They serve chili-cheese fries, nachos, beer nuts, spicy hot buffalo wings, miniature pizzas, hotdogs, sodapop, beefjerky, and all manner of quick and easy half-baked items. They don't even have plates, forks, or knives! They only have tall and short glasses, cups, and mugs! You don't see any hung tapestries, ornaments, or anything fancy at all. You see kegs of ale lining the walls stacked three rows high. You might see a horseshoe over the entrance for good luck  .
When people come to the tavern they don't want to be told how to enjoy themselves, they simply do it! The minute we start subjecting the Tavern to decorational critiques is the minute people stop coming and the beer goes stale.
Look, all I'm trying to say is that it isn't broke so don't go trying to fix it ok? I think people can decide for themselves how best to visit(not sculpt) the place where everybody knows your name. Strangers are welcome. And the mods do their jobs discretely.

I agree as well with the if 'it aint broke, don't fix it' philo, but the thing is that when I'm seeing lately is a bit of a decline... posts are less frequent unless they are posts that pertain to a specific group. I mean like the Guild of Pixelartists and now the n00b tourney.
It just seems lately that when someone does post something funny or that might start up a fun conversation its just not getting the same response it might have got some years ago. Now don't take me that I'm lamenting any good ol' days here, but my point is that it seems the only way to get an active topic nowadays seems to be to create a clique to pull others together.
To use the lovely picture Consis painted us, yes we still are a tavern but the only talking is in private groups whispering in the corners.. we get the odd patron in for an ale, but after shouting hello into the wind a few times, he chugs his pint and leaves 
I would just love to find a way to bring back the clinking of glasses and the hearty laughter booming from around the hearth

True enough, I am speaking generally though. I have noticed a bit more activity in other topics lately, i would just love to see more  I do like the alcohol thread .. though it starts out a bit.. erm... well, you know  In any case , I'd just like to see more of that.
RealDeal, why do you feel that not everyone is allowed there? I mean, it's not really alcohol (its just words silly!) so it doesn't matter if you're a minor

Thanks, I think I actually understand where Pandora is coming from now.
It's kind of a neat idea and I'll make sure I try my best as I like the idea of the Tavern.

I agree. The Tavern threads are clique, or dull. The Old welcome feeling of the Tavern is gone. The Tavern seems more like the VW now, but not in a good way.
I think I just need to SPAM the Tavern, that should make it look better.

Sorry to be way out off topic here, but i have a problem and i didn't know where to post it: each time i receive a IM msg, after the original one i receive a blank one, dated 1970, and it does not say from who. I guess either it's a bug or some ghost from the past trying to make contact .Damn i didn't knew a had special abilities...
please advise..

Wow, tigris i a medium and can contact ghosts! Can I talk to my grand-granny?
I know, It's not about the qp-issue, but I realized that the activity here in tavern greatly rose the last days. I think that is great and I hope that it at leas stays like this

2 Many QPs are going towards Pixelarts IMHO.
QPs in tavern should from now on go towards Welcome Threads and such. I like IYY's post so it's not about him not diserving a shoulderclap, but imho a lot of Qps in tavern has been sent towards it, where some better posts has gone unrewarded.

Okay I think Dingo is right on track here. People aren't posting those random funny things anymore. A page or two back in this thread someone pointed out a thread that should be in wastelands, but a majority of us thought the thread was great. Those threads define Tavern. Yes they may appear like spam, but they are actually a series of quite clever one-liners. And like I read through a couple of the newer Wastelands threads and they were funnier than the threads in Tavern.

@RealDeal - funny, I didn't see all that many QPs given out in our guild. I might have missed something, and would greatly apreciate a list of QPs in GoP.

Maybe i didn't be all that precise.. but QPs giving out to walksthroughs and stuff is at enourmus. Make a good walkthrough, and bing you've got a QP, it shouldn't neccaserily be like that.

Alot of the VW threads, seem to be better than some tavern threads. I think that maybe Chill Out. Should be moved to the tavern, so that I could always link it. Once it gets deleted then I can't Link it anymore and I love linking to that thread.
