In fact thats a quite good I dea, RSF. Let's see when we can use it. Maybe we should collect some of this "small-ideas" and then star such a small competition next to the big project IYY and me are up to.. Well, definitely nice idea thx for the suggestion

Okay, here's my idea on the multi-competition:
**Multi competitions should be categorized in several themes such as: fantasy, minks(), precision competitions etc.
**The limit should be a week
**All the competitions should start at the same time and end at the same time
**There should be a sub-guildmaster for each category, and Daddy, the GMaster, should announce all the winners
**A scoring system similar to Woocks. A winner will get 1 point
Coming soon...
PS:Nice Mink, cool mink-tiger(mincera tigris?)!

Daddy and I have decided that the guildmembers deserve to know what's coming up in the following weeks and maybe months. Besides the regular competitions that will still be running, we will be launching our grand project, presented here as it was presented to Woock and Daddy a few days ago. The first part of the project will be starting soon enough (make sure to take a look in my tutorial), but for now, look at it as a whole and prepare for a true revolution in the guild.
Several months have passed since I proposed the idea of The Guild of Pixelartists to Lord Woock and a dream was born. The guild grew in size, post count and skill, becoming one of the top HC groups (well, maybe not just about yet, but no harm in some mild patriotism.) Just like all other HC organizations, the guild is an abstract concept that exists only in text on the forum pages. This may be fine for those other taverns and groups, but we are artists and need to rise up from our text-based creation into a visual form. In simpler words, we need to have a pixelart picture of our guild.
But no common pixelartpiece it shall be! What we are looking at here is a project of canvas size 900x400 (approximately) with a two or three storey guild building (seen in a non-isometric view), including several rooms. The guildhouse will then be decorated with smaller versions of the winning competition pictures, a fireplace, bar, carpets, statues and whatnot. Also, every member of the guild, as well as the most important fictional characters (so far, one mink and one fruitmonster should suffice) would have a permanent place to stay in.
This project would not be created at once, but rather be split into several subproject, or competitions.
Part I: The Architect's Project
For this contest, a guildhouse design will be done by each member. Besides a size restriction which will be strictly enforced, there is to be one important rule: no furniture, decorations or anything else but the actual building shall be included. The winning picture of this contest will be used as our guildhouse.
Part II: Interior Design
Ah, what a fine new building we are about to move into! But alas, it's empty and gloomy. Maybe throw some pillows? Or maybe start working on decor pieces. This part could be split into several contests (for instance "draw a table for room #1") or be a free-for-all, where all members add random furniture pieces and decorations they like.
Part III: We're Moving In!
The stage is set, and we are ready to hop into our new and stylin' lounge. But who exactly are "we"? Time to make characters for the guildmembers. I think that the best idea here would be for each guildmember to draw a picture of him/her self. This could also be a contest, but all the characters that work with the regulations (rather strict regulations this time, so that the pic would look good together). Once a character is submitted, the creator chooses a location for him in the house. This is where the sprite will be placed.
Variation of Part III: The item/experience system
In this variation, all characters (except for those who won contests and our Guildmaster) start out in their undergarments. In order to gain extra items, one must win contests, submit tutorials and such. For each contest, the guildmaster or contest starter specifies the prize category (i.e "medium sized weapon", "simple hat", "cloak", "shirt") and the winner him/herself gets to draw an item from that category. This is done so that players won't draw themselves items that are too damn cool, and yet have the freedom to draw in the style of their character and choose something that would be suitable (for example, the choice of weapon, or the colour/style of the shirt).
Variation of Variation of Part III: Generic characters and the Store
We like HOMM, right? We therefore like Might and Magic, right? (well, maybe wrong, but whatever) We can use an equipment system similar to that of M&M6-8, that is, the paperdoll system. In this variation (which is currently favored by IYY, Daddy and Woock), all players will have generic bodies (except for my toned abs, how different to guys look in their underwear anyway?) and only the heads will be personalized. Clothing and items can then all be drawn before being applied on the player and then, once the player wins or buys the item, it can be stuck on him like on a paper doll. This way, we can have a store in which items can be bought, and to which all pixelartists can submit their items. Along this this system come two rules: no artist may buy an item he/her submitted AND the guildmaster sets the prices on items. Besides this cool item system, the new approach has another advantage: with generic bodies, we can easily make characters looking forward, sideways and sitting.
Part IV: Quests and Competitions
So far we've only seen competitions in the GOP but soon, with the new graphical reward system, quests will also be included. A quest can give you XP (which is used like money) or an item. Here are sample quests:
- start a branch of the GOP with the same rules on a different forum and gain a number of active members there
- design quality characters for the HC webcomic
- draw a picture of _______ (in this case, all decent competitors get some XP, notjust the winner!)
- create x number of quality furniture of a specific type
- design a specific type of clothing
- teach a n00b the skill of pixelart
At a given time, only certain quests will be active. These will be posted on the notice board (in the guild picture - just a small board with pinned notes on the wall, in the forum - text on the first post of the guild). Along with this update, a new type of competition will be implemented: the pixeloff. This is a dynamic, timed competition between two guild members. The guildmaster specifies some crazy idea for a drawing and they are both to draw it at the same time, with a set amount of time. Before starting the contest, the two players agree on an amount of XP to bet and in the end, the winner takes that XP from the loser. The bet doesn't have to be XP: it can be a specific item.
Part IV+: The Neverending Story
Once all of the characters are in the house, our project is complete but that does not mean that we cannot keep modifying it. We can keep adding winning comp art, new furniture, items and members.
NOTE: Since we want this project to look consistent, we will have to employ a specific style of drawing and stick to it. Since I am, well, me, it is quite obvious that I propose the style that I employed when drawing the characters for the HC webcomic, but in a smaller size (we want space for all the characters). A significant amount of detail and some realism should be expected, as well as a consistent style of shading for all characters (we'll have to decide on the particular shading; no shading is also a possibility). Save for the fictional characters, I propose that all characters would be humanoid, and of an approximately similar height (in case we use Variation of Variation of Part III, in which case this is quite obvious anyway).
Yay, a QP! Thanks friendly mods! Goodbye floodprotect!

*confused*
I don't know... I don't have so much spare time to do such thing... and I am a lousy pixel-artist (too lousy for that)
However, it is a good idea, even though I will not take part.
EDIT:
here's an updated version of desert, though not full (I added daddy's mink pic (from his webpage) here )

Don't forget: even if you don't participate in the construction of the building and the crafting of items for stores, you will still have a character, be able to do quests and buy yourself equipment and room decorations.

I think the rainbow looks just fine Asmo.
IYY - That post deserves a QP. We should do the 3rd variation of part III. However I think that the quests are absolutely wonderful. I especially like the idea of creating a new branch of GoP.
However I think that the method to set it up and how directly attached we want it compared to this one is important.
Here's what I was thinking though.
Imagine if we had this ginourmous house, and then as we add new people, we simply hook it on to the main building and call it "(name of forum) Addition."
But my question is this does the person who started the forum stay there once it's been well-established? Because there would be twice as many contests for that person to do, which would take a lot of time. I think that the branch should function on it's own for the most part.
However, I also think that once we have another branch, we could have interbranch competitions that involve enormous projects.
Or we could have like Guild vs. Guild competitions, however we would need a neutral panel of judges to rate all of our works. This would probably require a third party guild.

That idea was not fully developed in my head yet, so it's still in the planning stage. What you're saying sounds good enough, but I think it could also be a good idea to leave the guilds once they are established in other forums and new guildmasters are selected. All guilds must, however, use our currency system and obey our guildmaster.
lol, that's if the whole thing works and there -will- be other guilds.
