Thats one of the problems with heroes. How can anyone recruit an army of kings and queens? This goes for nagas and medusas too. It doesnt make sense. Imagine an army of 56 minotaur kings. Thats a whole lot of kingdoms.

Still.. There's a lot of creatures like centaurs, that are abviously more weak. Like dryads, fairies and nymphs.

To get it all correctly, there was only one medusa and minotaur. Now, there was a whole lot of dinosaurs (i suppose thats why Tyranosaurus got it's name, since it was more or less the "Rex" of the dinosaurs). Intelligent creatures like nagas, medusas and minotaurs can not naturally be called "kings and queens" since they are thinking creatures. It's not just a name to them, it's a title. That's why it does'nt make sense.

Why not animate a devil instead then? If this should work, the necromancers should be able to animate any creature on the battlefield after slaying them. Skeletons would become meaningless then. Dwarves, Centaurs, Medusas and Titans have very different bone structures.

I think you are asuming too much Necromancers should just find any dragon leftovers, and transform them into bone dragons. Bone Dragons/ Ghost Dragons worked fine for me.

But necromancers choose cerberus to animate.

Bone Dragons are too weak IMHO.
Black Dragons are immunity for magic, that why they can't resurrect(spell), but necromacer find way to transform Black Dragons if they still living. Like Nercomancer transfom from Liches.

Now now now! Bone dragons are weak level 7 monsters, because almost all other creatures from necropolis have special, powerful abilities. They have to be weak, because of the game balance. Necropolis are already too strong. They have oceans of skeletons, zombies with disease, wraiths which steal spell points, vampires that resurrect themselves, liches that attacks with gas clouds, dread knights with both curse and double damage abilities, and then the ghost dragon, with aging ability. Besides, they are all undead.

Not just necromancers, but also ordinary mages and wizards becomes liches.

In homm 3, all creatures in necropolis are undead. Thats the game i refer to.

In my opinion, undead is creatures that were once alive. Vampires are dead creatures. They feed on the life energy of other creatures. Since they were once living, they are undead- dead creatures that rise from death.

Why do you want manticores in a volcano? Sorry if im a pain in the "bip"

Vampires are half-living creature because:
1) They can resurrect self.(Undeads can't it)
2) They can resurect because drain life from other living creatures,(some Bats drain blood and they aren't undeads)
3) Living creatures can become a undeads if they died, and can become vampires in occulitic ritual.
4) Others undeads creatures don't need blood or somthing else to live.
5) Vampire have flesh and own blood, undeads like skeleton, ghost or zombie are dead in 100%.
All creatures in necropolis(and in others towns) divide on:
- Phantoms all undeads: ghost, skeleton, lich, zombie, banshee)
- Wraiths: (vampire, werewolf, striga, lilith, succubus, kepie, nightmare, ghoul even genies....)

half-living is an interesting idea, maybe an upgrade path like zombie-ghoul-vampire might be more reasonable that way. the "true" undead would be skeletons and the like.
