FORTRESS BLOWS!!!

OMG ... I am so glad that they rid the new game of that atrocious castle.  It was clogging up H3 along with the Stronghold.  Firstly, any castle with only a lvl 3 mage guild dosn't deserve to exist.  Secondly, the units were weaker then in any other castle.

All that is needed is to cast Expert Slow and the game was over.  Fortress units were slow as it is and when they were slowed they became useless.  The lizardmen were pitiful an possibly the worst ranged units in the game.

As far as the "cows" were concerned ... they're bulls ppl ... unless you're trying to be retardedly funny...neways ... as I was saying ... they were difficult to build because it also took a resource silo which was rediculously useless and a waste of gold.

The Hydras were too slow and any advantage that the basilisk gave was negated when he was slowed.

The only half decent units were the dragonflies and the Wyvrens because they had speed but the flies were killed quite easily if they entered enemy territory (got surrounded and melee'd to death).

So in conclusion, I think that all you ppl begging for the fortress to return, definitely have the wrong idea ... infact I'd like to see a fortress town win a single time against ... hmmm ... well... let's take the most powerful castle ... the NECROPOLIS!  Maybe would win 1 out of 10 games ... and that's a big maybe.

Stop crying, get over it, and hope to god that this awful abomination does not appear in future games.  Individual neutral units are fine, but not a whole crappy castle of them...

my own...hmmm, let's say irrefugable opinion is that fortress crawls like a puny worm around my feet, awaiting its doom, that is, when I play against fortress.

Even I can't find words which show this castle what it really is.maybe that's because i do not wish to use words such as "sucks"....

Thank you

Sir, I greatly appreciate your support.  When I first clicked on this post I thought that it would be 7 pages of Fortress bashing but instead all I was reading was a bunch of ppl...who know nothing about the game who were praising it.

If they just liked how it some of the creatures looked then maybe they shouldn't be commenting in regards to future games because that hurts serious Heroes supporters and players such as myself.

As I've said before Fortress is by far the WORST castle in H3 and nothing should be left from it.  I challenge any of the afore mentioned pansies to argue a decent point but then again I don't see anyone responding.

I'm glad that I have atleast 1 supporter in my argument ... my hat goes off to you.

Go ahead. Cast Slow on them. You're likely the first to cast a spell. Once I get to attack, I'll cast Mass Haste. Oops.

Fortress is one of the best in multiplayer. It is very easy to get Dragonflies and Wyverns VERY early, giving you excellent map sweepers so that you can get to the vital mines earlier as most other castles. You'll also have early Hydras, which allows you to have a bigger number of Hydras as your opponent will have Level 7.

Then, add the incredible Defense skill of the Beastmasters. Try to knock out the Hydras now with your pansy Ghost Dragons. Won't do. And what's that? Mighty Gorgons blowing away all your Arch Angels with death stare. Good riddance. And what is approaching there? Uh-Oh, it's an army of Wyverns, large enough to take down your Naga Queens. And those Basilisks petrified your poor vampires, so they won't do anything for the time being. And there? Oh, the Chaos Hydra just mowed down some Titans and Power Liches in one blow.

The Fortress is best described as a tank. Not fast, but very hard to take down. And yes, you can slow it. But the Fortress person is quite likely to have spells too. And while it isn't a Magic-Oriented town, it is quite easy to obtain Mass Haste.

Fortress doesn't need to attack. They'll just sit behind their Fortress walls and wait you coming for them. They'll happily slaughter you one creature at a time.

Fortress slow? Perhaps. But they have the best Low-Level Scout (Dragonfly, lowest lv. creature that matches its speed is Efreet Sultan), and have LV6/7 very fast. Try beat that, wiseguy.

By the way, didn't you say Necropolis is the strongest? Yeah, with that huge army of Skeletons, duh. But you forget 1 thing. Fortress can cast first. And they can cast Mass Slow/Haste too...

Only remedium for you is creating another thread. Not everybody is like you; only one person supported you and those 7 pages mean something don't you think? So go on create another thread and bash fortress as you wish. And Necropolis the best? Best town is Tower as for me... or eventualy Dungeon.

Well, there is a reason Necropolis is banned on several multiplayer games. Reason being them being overpowered with Skeleton flood.

even if the fortress will be back I doubt that all the creatures will be the same so stop critisizing our old fortress even though it's not that strong but u can develope really fast as meph have said and it does have some good creatures...but neways I just miss some of the creatures who were in the fortres such as dragonflies and gorgons baselisk and especially wyverns...who weren't in heroes 4...none of them (note: I haven't played the expansion) so it would be nice having a town with those creatures in it and maybe some new ones too

There was a strange wind whistling through the trees.  Despite the years of experience the band of explorers had had, scaling the Mountains to the East of the Holy Griffin Empire, squelching through the swamps they were now mired in, they had never heard the strange, almost rhythmic sound before.  The man with the tinder box listened for a minute, wishing the hairs on the back of his neck would stop standing on end, and then shook his head, and lit a fire.  This was his mistake.  The wind intensified, and the small band’s ears quivered and then ached as a sound unheard by any man who had returned to tell the tale roared through the forests.  The fire was snuffed out, and moments later, so were the men…

SANCTUARY
“Receive the homeless with open arms, and crush those whose arms are closed…”
Associated Colors: None, any and all colors can be used.  At one point the color grey was suggested, but it was turned down, and the Brown Reformation was ended years ago.
Worship: Varied, or not at all.  Worship of Sylanna is growing slowly.
Core Philosophy: Love others more than you love yourself, for the ties of friendship are greater than the whips of enmity.
Country/Kingdom: Marais
Capital City: Yenuto
Key Symbols: Two open hands with palms up, Scales

Description
Over the centuries, there are many creatures who are shunned by those who shared their lands or who shunned those who they shared their land with.  The Sanctuary is the place for those races to run too.  Those who can make it past the Mountain range to the East of the Holy Griffin Empire find a safe haven where all are appreciated.  The core philosophy of the nation has kept them from infighting since its foundation.  There is no main race in command, though some species are scarcer than others.
Their philosophies may have been inspired by the first few tribes that wound up in the Eastern swamps.  They found many wonders there, and fears, but above all were the benevolent Wyverns.  They accepted the weak and weary with open arms, well, wings really, and so those who lived in Marais did the same for others.
They are friendly with the Nagas, for they meet every now and then in the vast lakes that populate their marshy home, and are of course marauded by the Goblin tribes from the north.

Creatures
Lvl1
Lizard Man:  The Goblins caught several of the greater lizards that ventured to far from their caverns.  Finding them harder to domesticate, they fused them with some of the more docile human slaves.  They never made that mistake again.
Lizard Arrow Smith: They are better than their unupgraded forms with the bow, and wear weak armor made from densest tree bark.

Lvl2
Harpy: The Harpies were one of the creations of the Wizards.  Several escaped across the mountains, and now serve as the primary backbone of scouts and messengers in the sanctuary.
Harpy Witch Some Harpies picked up a few pieces of knowledge from their wizard makers, and carried that information with them to the Sanctuary. Their spells are varied, though the more harpy witches in a stack the more powerful they become.

Lvl3
Centaur: Centaurs were guards in the Silver Cities, and they spearhead the first charges in smaller armies with their battle charge ability.
Centaur Captain: Captains of the guard were able to charge with even more speed, and sometimes this speed allowed them to stun their opponents just before they are crushed.
http://www.celestialheavens.com/show_big_potd.php?id=126
Lvl4
Gorgon: The gorgons were women so hideous that everyone around them repulsed them.  They finally joined together all their abilities and tried to turn themselves into great serpents to attack their offenders, but failed.  The snakes in their hair and their long reptilian tails are so hideous they literally turn enemies to stone.
Gorgon Stonecarvers: The effect of a gorgon’s stare wares off, but Gorgon stone carvers can litteraly weaken the unit’s level (eg, a stoned Hunter into a war dancer) When it wakes up it is in for a nasty surprise…

Lvl5
Werewolf: Werewolves do not fit in with humans, and they are not accepted in normal packs.  Thus they live with those who may fear them but do not shun them.
Every second week of each month they get an increase in attack by 75%
Ulfsark: These werewolves can change their skin at will, from the slow but strong defensive human to the ferocious and fast Wolf-Man.

Lvl6
Wyvern: The Wyverns were the first to inhabit the Swamps, and they have a complex society of their own.  Their speed in battle and acidic breath allows them to contend with even their mightier cousins, the Dragons.  Their defense, however, is not so great.
Wyvern Monarch: The Wyverns who achieve the highest position in their society are gifted with stronger and better armor.

Lvl7
Swamp Hydra: The weaker Hydras of the Dungeons aspire one day to become as great as the more serpentine ones of the swamps above.
Mire Hydra: The poison in the Hydra’s breath leaves survivors of its intital attack writhing on the ground of the battle field…

That is not the fortress. That is the Haven, only shorter.

I meant more the concept of the fortress.
