Simultaneous turns
I heard that HOMM V will have simultaneous turns. This could greatly reduce time of play (especially 4 or more players) online. All players will simutaneously build in their towns, buy units and setting the move. After a player has finished his turn, he presses 'End turn' button. When all players press this button, the heroes move and the battles begin (simutaneously).
This type of game was in Etherlors I, but there has some drawbacks:
- Having a hero one level hero than an opponent could be crucal (because they move first)
- You can visit only one object per day (including collecting resources)
This can be corrected by queuing paths (like Shift+RightClick in RTSs)
-No hotseats
What is your opinion (if you understood, what I meant)

I really hope this is a switch on/off thing if it comes, I mostly use Heroes as social games, and there's nothing social with playing over the internett. Heroes practically IS hotseat.

No hotseats ? Are you mad ? This is 100% possible to do, Dominions2 uses simultaneous turns and it CAN be played hotseat, too.
The real drawback would be battles. They can't be done with simultaneous turns directly, so it either would have to be like in Dom2 (no control over units, you give orders and choose tactic before battle), or hybrid approach (turns are simultaneous, but after host executes new turn the battles begin. This hybrid approach would still use less time than curent homm turns, and allow battle control Dom2 doesn't allow).
But It can be VERY good idea to implement simultaneous turns. In Dominions2 you can play "blitz" games ("realtime", not by mail)... for 17 - seventeen - players and it's hardly longer than two player game. 17 player game often finished in one session, isn't this impressive ??
One more thing - because of simul turns, it can be really annoying to hunt escaping enemies. It certainly is in Dom2, but partially remedied by fact that you usually have multiple armies.
Except...

...except it is REALLY annoying to stand up after your turn is finished, and take off the headphones.
If you want fair competition, you can't allow watching other people's turns, or even gathering info by sound.
And you play more efficient with 1 machine per 1 player. You can plan more effectively with a map before your eyes. And, using multiple computers, you can see things you wouldn't otherwise be able to (which places did the hero visit, and so on... I admit I forgot about 'replay enemy turn')
You don't play cooperative against AI players, I hope ?
Edit by ThE_HyDrA: Luckily, I can.

I found it on internet where was a kind of interview for a romanian game magazine, where interviewed person said that they were thinking of turns happening at same time. I didn't have an idea what it was about, but after I have played Etherlords, I know what they were thinking.
I think that they will not take away hotseat. I was talking about Etherlords where are no hotseats.

I just want to say this:
The turn system is already perfect. I really hope Ubisoft leaves it as it is. And B0rsuk, it does not take away the fun watching others's turns. It's fair play, they see your turn too. And think about all the people who don't have access to the internett or can't play over it, we are more than you think. And I've tried online heroes playing, and I know it really is no fun. It takes many hours, you have to be online at the same thime as someone else, and you can't talk. If everyone use the same computer, it's perfect, eccept that it still takes a long time.

1. It's may be fair, in a way, but it limits the depth of game. You can't suprise anyone, make sneak attacks etc.
About hotseat - I played a lot myself, that's why I know what am I talking about.
