HC Chess Tournament

Rankings:

Woock - 1048
RSF - 1047
RealDeal - 1024
Asmo - 1000
Dingo - 1000
Daddy - 964

Rules:

1.) For the first game you play against each other, being black or white does not matter. However every game after you must alternate with each other. Unless you agree differently.

2.) Standard game time is 20 minutes. However you may agree on any time you wish as long as it's 10 minutes or more. Games less than 10 minutes are blitz games. If you like blitz games, we can have a separate leader board in that or maybe a subtournament.

3.) We will use the Ranking System from TOH.

Quote:

All beginning players start with a base score of 1000. Player ratings provide a way to compare the strengths of two players without requiring them to play each other. It is not a competition. The rating system is similar to that used in chess ratings, the higher the rating, the better the player.

Ratings are recalculated after each game, using the following formulae:

Rn=Ro + 30 +0.05*(D) if they win, or Rn=Ro - (20 + 0.05*(D) ) if they lose.

where Rn is the new (post-game) Rating, Ro is the old (pre-game) Rating, and (D)

is the difference between opponents pre-game ratings.

So for example, if a player with a ranking of 1000 beats a player with ranking of 1100, the winner moves up to 1035, the loser moves down to 1075. If the 1100 ranked player beats the 1000 ranked, winner moves up to 1125, loser moves down to 985.

That is the ranking system of TOH however a slight variation will be made, since chess often ends in a draw.

Rn = Ro + 5 + (0.05 * D)

For example Person A has a rating of 1000 and Person B has a rating of 1100. If they play 3 outcomes can happen.

Person A wins. Resulting scores are 1035 and 1075.

1000 + 30 + (0.05 * 100) = 1000 + 30 + 5 = 1035
1100 - 20 + (0.05 * -100) = 1100 - 20 - 5 = 1075

Person B wins. Resulting scores are 1125 and 985.
1000 - 20 + (0.05 * 100) = 1000 - 20 + 5 = 985
1100 + 30 + (0.05 * -100) = 1100 + 30 - 5 = 1125

Game is a draw. Resulting scores are 1010 and 1100.

1000 + 5 + (0.05 * 100) = 1000 + 5 + 5 = 1010
1100 + 5 + (0.05 * -100) = 1100 + 5 - 5 = 1100

4.) Have fun and play respectfully.

My apologies to Lord Woock. I broke rule number 3.

Ahhh... Sorry about that. I forgot to post how people got their HC chess ratings. I'll edit that into the first post.

There are numerous ways. The first is if you have MSN Messenger. It comes directly installed. The second is by going to MSN Gaming Zone. Both are easy. I would recommend using MSN Messenger, because nearly everyone I know in HC has MSN Messenger except for a select few who think that AIM is the only way to go, but those select few I know quite well and organizing a game wouldn't be a problem. So basically I'm babbling. Those to my knowledge are the easiest ways to play online. MSN Messenger being the easiest. MSN Gaming Zone is simply one of the numerous places to play Chess online for free. I choose MSN Gaming Zone because most of the members here have used MSN Gaming Zone to play Homm3.

Okay Stalemates will be as such...

5 + 0.05D

So here's how it works.

RealDeal draws against Woock.

1000 + 5 + (30 * 0.05) = 1007

Woock draws against RealDeal

1000 + 5 + (-30 * 0.05) = 1033

RealDeal wins against RealDeal

1007 + 30 + (26 * 0.05) = 1038

Woock loses to RealDeal

1033 - 20 + (-26 * 0.05) = 1012

I'll do the math a few times, so everyone can keep getting examples understanding the Ranking.

Woock:

1012 + 30 + (0.05 * -12) = 1042 - 1 = 1041

Daddy:

1000 - 20 + (0.05 * 12) = 980 + 1 = 981

I report a win over RealDeal.

RealDeal beats Daddy.

RealDeal: 1038 + 30 - (52 * 0.05) = 1068 - 3 = 1065

Daddy: 981 - 20 + (52 * 0.05) = 961 + 3 = 964

RSF beats RealDeal

RSF: 980 + 30 + (88 * 0.05) = 1010 + 4 = 1014

RealDeal: 1068 - 20 - (88 * 0.05) = 1048 - 4 = 1044

Okay RealDeal and Woock were really close in ranking (less than 10) so they simply get the +30 and -20 from winning an losing.

Woock:

1041 + 30 = 1071

RealDeal:

1044 - 20 = 1024

Edit - RSF beats Woock

Woock:

1071 - 20 - (0.05 * 57) = 1051 - 3 = 1048

RSF:

1014 + 30 + 3 = 1047

Come on people play.
