If they wait for you to develop all of that.  For me, they start attacking about the time I have settled my third planet.  No where near time enough to develop anything.  Maybe it is because I tend to settle planets very fast.  Maybe they don't like rapid expansion or something.

Just putting in, that FOR ME MOO 1 is better than two - the added micro-management in 2 doesn't add to the game, and having SINGLE ships to construct doesn't add anything either.

MOO 1 is just right, managing the grand scale with ease.

But that's just my two cents, of course.

I agree MOO I was a bit more fun.  I even sometimes liked MOO III (after it was mostly fixed).  But I can find some odd things enjoyable.

Fanmade content for MOO III helped to fix a lot of it's issues.  Not all mind you.

What I remember the most from MoO 1, were the runaway Psilons. Lol, indisputably the potentially strongest race in the game.

Atleast they were nerfed in MoO2. (still the strongest, but Low G is a huge nuissance)

Oh, it has been ages ago.  I honestly have no clue.  One of my favorite things to do (back then) was play the reptile race that multiplied quickly.  Put all of them into farming for uber fast growth, while my scout ship found planets.  Put as many as I could into producing a population ship, rinse and repeat.  My tech was way slow at first..but when I had a dozen planets..put them all on tech and you can catch up FAST.

Oddly enough when I played the Silicoids (which was really slow at first) they tended to ignore me.  The low population ability probably kept them away.  But with the Reptile race there really is only a couple ways to use them good.  One is a 'zerg' mentality.  Populate, populate, populate.

If I remember correctly..take the starting stardate and add about 10 turns worth of time.  This was the earliest I had ever seen them attack.  I already had 3 planets and was heading to get a 4th.

If the Psilons have a lot of time and terran or gia worlds (at the beginning) to grow on..they are monsters to beat.  S/M maps they are slow starters and you can take them with fast growers however.

Just started a new Game with the Sakkra

Quick expansion, bumped into the Meklars soon (Erratic Technologists). Non-aggression pact quickly disposed of their potential threats, as they had other fish to fry. Expanded to the South, bumped into Alkari (Honorable Expansionists) and Bulrathi (Aggressive Expansionists)? To my surprise the Bulrathi were WAY ahead of Meklars, who on their part were ahead of me! Luckily they both had researched differnt paths, so All I needed to do was to research the paths the missed, then trade these fo their techs, and the broker these between Bulrathi and Meklars! Now I have a HUGE Tech Advantage to both of them

Expanded further, bumped into the Klackons (Xenophibic Industrialists) in the East, and the Trillarians (Honorable Militarists) in the south. I really, really HATE the Trilarians, and they also happened to be stronger than me! Ugh! They have bloody Titans, which I luckily managed to trade for Advanced Damage Controll (pfew!)

The Alkari have declared war upon me for some reason (I apparently upset them... I don't see how). I apparently wasn't the only one who "upset" them... they were at war with Meklars, Blrathi AND Trillarians as well....

We'll see who gets the main prize... I already capture Altair

Easily in my top 10 favorite games.  I don't know how many hours I've wrecked havoc across the galaxy.

Hell, I found an unopened boxed version of the game a couple of years back and bought it for $5, just so I had another copy.

Hey Lexxan you miss all the fun when you didn't chose the tactical combat..... I just love the star fights not so good as in The Star Trek the Birth of the Federation but the will do the trick.
But overall it is nice..... campaign... You plan to win by power or diplomacy

Yes, I always try to do so, when I'm not repulsive.

(And even when I'm repulsive, I STILL win by Diplomacy lol )

Also, that tribute I'm giving the Trillarians... they was the result of a misclick, lol
