Its situationnal really.  I think if such a Tazar lvl 17 hasnt killed his opponenent already its because something is going terribly wrong.  Opponent is 3 utopias ahead of you and has humongous stats?  Your opponent is kyrre/gunnar/dessa with possible glove and boots?  There are not many ways such a Tazar can still lose a game.  Opposing hero outspeeding you on a many ways map is about it... in which case the only thing that can save you is TP/DD(if not ruled out) and thus the only reason why I would pick wisdom over advanced air.

You have to realise that the outcome of a fight between 2 week 4 main heroes with whole armies depends essentially on might stats, armorer/offense/speed differential.  The other ways of having the edge involve implosion to none or tactic and huge archer group to none. Tazar has mass slow/shield and expert tactic.  Mass haste at this point would secure the only worries left if any I would have especially if I saw a wisdom/scholar hero & loynis on the other side...

Your fault is that it is not based on a real game (test map with pandora(s)), instead you write things out of your head which is fun, but when your might hero gets 3 magic skills and wisdom in a row in the end I can't help laughing sorry.

It's not even close to being realistic.
To be honest, reality and this levelup sequence should not be mentioned in the same forum they are so very far away.

So what should we base our choices on then?

My fault?     What is it based on then?  Is it based on not a real game?  How is not a real game played?  I wonder how people managed to have a theory behind all secondary skills picks up to level 17...  If you dont base your picks on homm3' rules and gameplay strategy as we should know them you have no context from which to base your decision upon.  Its not my fault.

If you understood nothing above I will change my mind and pick wisdom as other people did and hopefully for the same reason: tazar will gain cool animation with his book.

Maximus, Did you really need to create 17 threads about this BS?

Could have easily been done in One Thread.

Frank, my reply was not for you, it was for Maximus.
Advanced air can be a good choice, I do not doubt it, I did not even think before choosing.

In case you did not know this, it is not based on a heroes game, this guy just sits there and makes up the choices himself. That's what I commented at, after this might hero got water, air, air and wisdom offered in a row.

Maximus, sorry, I tend to look at the downsides.

Otherwise your thread was a very good idea and I had a lot of fun with it. Even in the end, well, for other reasons that in the beginning, but still -

Only for the records....about how often a might hero gets magic skills offered..

I had a game yesterday...Random Jebus, L size, no under.

My opponent didnīt want to rule out logborn heroes, so i was glad to find Pyre on day 1 in tavern.

First magic skill offered to her was firemagic (i think on level4)....i refused.

After getting offense and wisdom offered (took both..), she got airmagic offered....i refused.

Some levels later, she got again airmagic offered....refused again...

After getting tactics and armorer, on level 15 or 16 she got earthmagic offered...took that..

I think we all agree, Pyre is a might hero.....and she got a magic skill offered FOUR times!!

This tells me, all these rules are pure theory...

And btw....i went into the endfight with 7 skills on expert level (log, art, wis, off, arm, tact, earth), and after the endfight, i got EagleEye and Navigation offered....

That seems to happen very often, when u get 2 new skills offered and have already 6 or 7 skills on expert, those offered skills arenīt that usefull..

No theory - it's just how probabilities work.

Yes, eventually there can be 15 rouges in a row on the roulette. It does not mean you should play for it (expect it) though.

Perhaps i am wrong, but i think the probabilities also depend on the skills you have already accepted.

So when i would have accepted the offered firemagic, perhaps there would not have been offered 2 times airmagic afterwards.

What do you think about that theory?

So what?
Asking the question "what would have happened" is not a good idea. Mathematics will not reply to you. All it can tell you is that refusing a magic skill certainly raises your chances to get it offered as a new skill again (it would be 0% otherwise), but your rejection has certainly no positive effects on future offerings (if not independent it is even worse for you, I am almost sure that if you reject a magic skill as a might hero your chances to get it offered again is smaller that your chances for that actually having happened to you, so better take your chances while there).

Come on csarmi....donīt look only in one direction..

I saw the tables of the probabilities off all heroes and their chance to get any skill offered. But where do these values come from?....To what facts do they relay on?

When it says, a knight hero has a chance of 23,5% to get earthmagic offered, how do you know, this is NOT a "average value" of all possibilities?

Like: 44% chance of getting it offered, when the hero has NO other magic skill accepted already, 36% chance when he has already wisdom accepted, 29% when he has already another magic skill accepted....and so on..

Do you have any evidence, that this way of calculation is wrong?

And it would be STILL mathematics...

As long as you do not back up your hypotheses with statistical tests or game files containing info, I couldn't care less.
