It's on my list, as is going back through the post nominated above. Unfortunately I've been hit in the face with the flu for about the last five days, barely able to get out of bed. Yesterday I developed a sinus infection which made even moving my skull unbearable. I think I'm beginning to mend - enough to visit here, anyway - but I probably won't be getting around to any major housekeeping for a little while.

I have to say that this is really starting to piss me off. The title of the thread in question is QUESTIONS OF MARRIAGE, and I consider it disrespectfully fanatical to hijack it in order to start yet another sermon about the one and only by the one and only.
I would have a bit more tolerance for this, if marriage was an exclusively Christian idea, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
So could the moderation please do something in order to get this thread in line again.
Now, I know that you shouldn't ask for yellow cards and warnings and stuff, but I have no qualms being politically uncorrect, so I do think that the sheer amount of fanatical off-topicness in combination with fanatical preaching does deserve minus QPs, 1) for the repeated off-topicness of someone who should by now know the meaning of this word, 2) for simple boredom of repeating the same bullcrap over and over and over and over again like a broken record, and 3) for devaluating a thread about something that should allegedly have some importance for a guy like Elodin, by 1 and 2.
Case closed. Make it quick, please, I'm somewhat sick of this crap.

Quite typical, JJ. You did not complain about atheists launching their attacks on religion but want a penalty imposed on me for addressing the attacks they launched.

And while I'm no mod, everyone not being blinded by any lordly light can see that it's post 7 on page 2 of the thread is starting the downslide.
In this case it's even more obvious, because OTHER posters brought in a religious or spiritual aspect as well, without combining it with the next declaration of war against the unholy atheists. It doesn't look like a guy like Markkur has a problem to make a case for these things without hijacking the thread for the Lord and at the same time waging war against the infidels.
Might be a good example.

You'd have to be mentally bankrupt to try to disbar the advocate for Christianity from a discussion regarding marriage just because you got angry. And you know full well that this is what your asking for, unless you actually think that Elodin will change.

Wouldn't be my first choice of words, but I guess I'd agree with you.
I also think that you'd have to be mentally broke to suggest someone tried that in the thread in question, so I can't really decide which part of your post is the most absurdly bizarre one.

I don't really follow the discussion in question very closely but if you're offering a QP just because someone's position is "coherent" and that the odds are totally against him numerically, that's an utter nonsense which completely misses the point behind "quality". I can coherently explain to the forum that the Earth is flat and 99,99% of the world population is hypnotized in believing that it's round, you can bet your ass that even the local trolls will be against me - would I earn a shiny then?
If any particular Elodin's post deserves a QP for a sensible reason though, let him have it.

JJ is absolutely correct. The thread is a complete mess and looking over all the posts it is very easy to see that the point at which it becomes a mess is (no surprise) a post by Elodin. Which isn't to say it's entirely Elodin's fault - it takes more than one person to completely derail a topic with off topic discussion. But the fact of the matter is that many of you like to pick at everything Elodin posts even though you know what it's going to turn into, and on the flip side Elodin doesn't ever let an opportunity pass to martyr himself for the cause. In future, let's all pay a little more attention to the thread's topic before we post something in it, ok?
In any case I apologize for letting it go on so long. Death-bed illness an all. At the moment the thread is closed and I will reopen it shortly after I do some major trimming.
EDIT: Purge completed and thread re-opened.

Of course the problem is certain atheists on in the OSM enjoy taking backhanded swipes at religion and then can't defend their nonsensical statements. At which time you begin crying and demanding I be penalized or banned for defending the correct position.  I think it is because most of the atheists I've engaged in conversations through the years have seemed to enjoy attacking religion but have been unable to defend their own positions. Which puts them in a poor position when they are challenged to do so.
I've certainly never declared war on atheists (and recently had a nice civil PM with one), contrary to your accusations, but I don't back down when an atheist takes a swipe at religion.
Oh, I've never hijacked a thread and I was responding to atheist claims in the latest thread, including to a post by Corribus (he wound up deleting his own post.) I've never ever seen you complain about atheists taking swipes at religion in any thread, it is always the response to the swipes that you object to.
Yes, I don't wear kids gloves in debates, but unlike many others I'm not slinging around personal insults (and I did read that last post that was deleted that was filled with nothing but insults towards me before it was deleted.)

I'm sorry to interject, but if somebody wants to post an off topic response then you simply DON'T HAVE TO RESPOND TO IT.
The amount of times, JJ, you've complained about Elodin yet you keep replying. Misery loves company and all that. Thought you'd at least have learnt by now mate.

Elodin, if I were you, I wouldn't reply to them. As soon as you see a reply in a thread swiping religion or insulting someone personally, just post your complaint here. All you need to type is "I feel I or my faith or whatever was insulted by this post," post the insult in question, and that's it. If it's truly an unprovoked, offtopic, etc. insult, they'll get punished for it and you won't. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
I feel that should concern everyone by the way, just thought to address it to Elodin because he seems to have this issue quite often.

Ha!!! As if. I don't get offended by someone taking a swipe at religion or at anything I post, I just want to respond with the truth. The OSM is supposed to be a place for real world discussions. I expect my statements to be challenged in discussions and I'll defend my statements with vigor and press my points with vigor when I disagree with statements. That is debate.
