Quote: He must have deleted his first post and therefore the whole thread got deleted as a result. That's the only explanation for the LGBT thread that I know of. Perhaps a mod may know more.
It would explain his negative post count.
He has -400 posts. I think he originally had eight hundred. 64 pages is roughly 1200 posts, so if we substract 1200 from 800, we have -400 posts. I think it's a reasonable explanation...

Members can't do that. After previous incidents that was no longer allowed.
Now what's happened here is that all the people who posted in those threads have messed up post counts. If you look at father's count, he's at a huge minus now - anyone else who posted will also be affected.
Not that it matters anymore - but so it doesn't appear I was being sneaky I have removed the QP I gave him in the Tavern, and replaced it with a penalty, as well as I have penalized him in the tribunal for a post he made that I should have penalized at the time - but for whatever reason I had wanted to keep the peace.
I can't tell anyone anything about what happened - I wasn't there.
All I can tell you is that even if some of you feel its unfair to have penalized him as I did, I won't budge here. No way does a member who does what he did deserve a promising status, I'd have removed them all were they in my reach.
I'm sorry to everyone who lost posts - what a colossal waste of your time to have bothered there. Not to mention that an actual important topic, where some people took the time to reveal a lot about themselves with the intent of sharing with the community - not just with Father is now lost. How that man felt it was within his right to even suggest that their words be destroyed is well beyond me. He can delete all his posts in a fit of rage for all I care - but if there was anything real about him and he cared in the slightest for anyone here - he owes those people an apology.
I don't care at all that his Diary was removed, but sorry to those of you who bothered posting there too.
I'm not going to say nice mod things here...this was a ridiculous thing to ask to have done. If he comes along to read this - father, please don't come back.

Seconded. There is no second chance for people who constantly derail threads with their negativity and delete 64-page topics with excellent posts in them.

I don't know woth you guys, but I see it as a possibility that something happened in RL to Father, something that made him upset, and made him delete those threads. I want to at least hear his side of the story before I draw any conclusions.

Well, I could care less about Father or his petulant tantrums.
What I care about is the posts that were lost. Many people put a lot of effort and heart into the posts in the deleted threads. No one person has ownership to a whole thread, whether he/she started it or not. I would have liked to have had a copy of my QP post. I spent quite a bit of time on that.
What I would like to know is how did the threads get deleted. If a user has the power to do that, then that is something that needs to be changed. If a mod did it, then I consider it a huge abuse of mod power. Regardless, if whole threads can just up and disappear like that, I wonder if it's worth it for me to spend time posting here. Sorry to say that, but.. well, it's the way I feel. No point in putting effort into something that can just vanish at someone's selfish whim.
As for Father, well, he's not worth my time. If he deleted the threads or his posts, I can just say that it was a cowardly, childish, thoughtless, inconsiderate thing to do. The only upshot to the whole thing is that it might mean he won't come back, which given his behavior is to HC's benefit.

I know it would not be the same, and that we might never get back what we put into it, but I am willing to open my own thread on the matter. Guaranteeing that the thread would stick around for a long long time. However, I understand if the community would rather not after what happened.

JJ - as I understand it his request was to have the entire thread deleted - not simply his posts.
That is what I object to.
To me its wrong to create a thread where people are invited to discuss and share their thoughts on what can often be a sensitive issue, to invite them to share their personal life experiences - and then show absolutely no regard for the things that they wrote about.
IMO - no one was posting as direct letters to father, they were sharing with the community, and what we learned about those members was very eye opening and interesting to find out who they are as people. Not to mention, in some cases what they told was not easy to tell.
Father showed no regard for any of those individuals, for their feelings or for the time they took in participating in the thread.
I don't care about any of the rest of it - if he acted due to personal problems or whatever, I can understand being upset or irrational and wanting to leave but some of these people were friends to him, and IMO this move was spitting in their faces.

I still would like to know why? Why would someone, who has PROVEN to have some great potential, do such things? I feel rather blind-sided by this.
As for the thread, threads can be restarted. We can continue the discussion without him, though it indeed is a pity that the GREAT posts in the thread were deleted.

I am really angry for what he did, I guess that is what he wanted. A last revenge. I pity the person.
So is there a possibility of getting that thread back?

Backups work like system restores in that they back up the site to a previous checkpoint, so a lot of posts would be lost. Anyone who was around when HC went down back in 2004 will remember that we lost about ten days worth of posts because Val had to load from a dated backup.
By the time Val sees this, it probably won't be feasible to do a complete reload just for the sake of one thread. All we can do is hope there's some workaround we might not know about or that the backup system has been overhauled to allow for this kind of thing. I wouldn't cross my fingers, though.
